Building a feature wall with a fireplace

I finally bought my first house and this is the first proper project I am doing! I am building a wall with a recess for a TV, Sound Bar and fireplace! It has an electric fireplace in the bottom and the entire wall is Line with VJ paneling.
This video isn't a how-to but does go through the carpentry and painting stages of building this wall

Any problem using the VJ with the fireplace? I assume it heats.
I’m looking to do something similar and the electric fireplace does get warm around the top fan vent and wasn’t sure if the heat would make it a fire danger.
