  • This is a special re-release episode from the FOTF LIBRARY VAULT. It was restricted shortly after it's initial release (originally premiered on Jan 9, 2022). And ever since then, it is not being recommended to anyone by this platform.
    I have gone back and censored the key image that seems to have been found offensive. Of course one can easily find this famous post-mortem image on a search, but the high resolution image can only be found at the Thanatos Archive, who owns the original photo. I recommend you go there:

    THIS STORY:
    Summary -
    Carney Parsons and his wife, Minnie (Strange) Parsons and their three children were annihilated in 1906 by Jody Hamilton, who worked for Carney and lived with them. After the family was wiped out, they were thrown in the Piney River. Someone fishing found their bodies. Hamilton went to church wearing the suit he had taken from Mr. Parsons, also his ring. An announcement was made at Church of the discovery of the slaying. Hamilton slinked away, riding a mule taken from the Parsons family. They followed him, caught him and hung him….until he was “DEAD-DEAD-DEAD”.

    _________________________________________________________
    The Angel face you see is the Haserot, named “The Angel of Death Victorious". The stoic angel is seated on the marble gravestone of canning entrepreneur Francis Haserot and his family. Holding an extinguished torch upside-down, it represents a symbol of life extinguished. Wings are outstretched and the gaze is straight ahead.
    IN THE END, DEATH ALWAYS WINS. LEST THE FACES NOT BE FORGOTTEN...
    This channel is focused on casually walking and viewing a handful of the thousands of forgotten names and faces at various cemeteries near and afar. Seeing their faces up close. And when able, telling the stories behind their names.
    Most graves are unknown and lost to history.
    Some are famous.
    And some infamous....
    ....and some with tragic endings.

      It wasn't any more common then than they are today. MANY photos from the Victorian era are mislabeled as post mortem when they are NOT post mortem.

  • @Bobhbaum
    @Bobhbaum ปีที่แล้ว +230

    Hard to believe anyone would be "offended" by the pic. It didn't show the bloodied bodies. It was a family which was "slaned" (could have been the stone mason was a bad speller). And, I felt you handled the entire story with the taste and dignity it deserved. Here we are roughly 120 years later and individuals--for any of a number of reasons--sometimes STILL become angry to the point of committing murder. Fine job, Ron.

    My dad’s family is from Licking and are still there. My grandfather and great grandfather were at the hanging. Jody is buried in the cemetery where a lot of my family is buried. I believe that Jody suffered from a brain injury and unfortunately committed such a horrific crime because of. Just guessing of course, I have had several clients with brain injuries who would just snap.

    I'm glad you got this one back in the feed. The fly in and the music is so amazing.
    The story of how quickly death row inmates were executed back then -- instead of being allowed to do appeals and stall for decades until they die naturally of old age after dragging the victims' families through constant court cases like they do today -- is interesting to hear.
    So sad about this family.

      I bet if they still held trials and punishment like that today there would be a lot less crime. But a lot more protesters would be there and it makes me think what they would do if happened to someone in their family.

    Btw, it sounds like the murderer had TBI, traumatic brain injury. And that combined with childhood violent abuse made him a walking stick of dynamite. Tragic all the way around. Especially the children and wife. 😭😭😭

    Loose noose hanging, sounds deliberate. "Slan" meaning "to hit, to beat" in West Germanic dictionary. Considering the beatings the Parson family endured the photo looks rather peaceful. Thanks for taking us along Ron 🥰

    • @lorrainegrey9120
      @lorrainegrey9120 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The faces in the original photo did show some signs of their injuries, but by then, they had all been cleaned up (obviously) and put in their other clothing, so it's really not that terrible to look at, except for the sadness of it. BTW, Minnie Parsons was several months pregnant with what would have been the couple's fourth child. She was some years younger than her husband Carney, and an alternate or gossipy version added that Jody Hamilton possibly had an unrequited crush on Minnie, adding to his rage over the other perceived offenses.

    Tonight was my first viewing of your channel and I thoroughly enjoyed it. At a mature age you are able to understand and convey these stories from long ago. The story made me think of my grandparents graves.. They are buried in a tiny church side cemetery. My aunt researched our family history back seven generations to gain evidence of a family member who fought in the Revolutionary War. I am fortunate to have these many pages of my mother's side of the family. Today many think of our country's history as "dead white guys" but it is so much more. Thank you for giving voice to those who are forgotten.

    This sure was worth watching again. Sometimes the 2nd time I pick up more insight then the first. To see this whole family wiped out like this still brings the same sadness though. I'm not sure why anyone who is interested in a cemetery channel would be offended by the family picture. I see death as an eternal extension of life. I have more fear of living then I do of dying. No more suffering no more pain and no one will have to carry a gun in heaven. RIP to this beautiful family. They sure didn't deserve this.

    it was apart of history yes it’s sensitive,tragic but death photos where in many homes it was how they honoured their loved ones you do such a great job making it so they,their story isn’t forgotten a heart of gold
