Much relief after going through this stuff th-cam.com/users/postUgkx-ip-9JdKgYMhubLnEjt3OXJkFyS4D2Jd Stress no doubt affects my blood sugar levels. Taking a walk usually help bring them down. Eating sweets is not my favorite, but if i take a large portion of them, my blood sugar level rises high. I think it's the high concentration of the glucose flowing into the bloodstream all at once. This is a lesson worth taking note of. This is a great material to learn from.

Probably the best Ryan’s th-cam.com/users/postUgkxGZedDTcDfgD7fG_uU4esfx_EgxzlY2_1 Plans on building a shed is hardly ever found. And Ryan takes the mystery out of different types of foundation options, etc. He even shows how to build a shed with different designs. Very comprehensive, covering different roofing materials, siding, etc.

I envy Chris & Dot. While the world continues to go mad, they grow their own food, wood supply, energy etc whatever happens it won’t affect them. Even the cat has a better quality of life than most Brits. Well done Chris for being ahead if the game!

    Inspirational stuff.
Whilst you were milling, planning, cutting, installing, chopping, planing, chiselling, sawing with hug bit of wood and glass, editing, posting, and generally doing manly stuff, I was inspired to hang a door on my campervan conversion this week which t'wife described as "a bit shit". And then I had beer. And picked some puny tomatoes before the slugs got to them, so kinda the same in a way. Almost. Nearly.

I really enjoy the way you build, Kris.
You create and employ models, jigs, a lot of math, and always come up with something very organic that looks like it grew from the land. The roof pitch is just right, to my eye. Any higher and it might have looked like a church. Happy building. Have a great day!

It's your dedication to detail and that you compromise function due to aesthetics in a functional way in. Aesthetics in the end have an impact on quality of live and to weight aesthetics and function is so tricky but you always master it and I really knew each single one of your uploads and love all of them so educational so pure knowing what there is the struggle and seeing your love for nature and living beings its a pure bliss and a statement for goodness is even possible when heart and mind find connection and support of people feeling your power giving power back… really its difficult to find words but your videos flush my live with positivity! Ok and you are a cob, earth, shingle, wood, plant, animals, water power purity lover it‘s like you are just the guy doing quite all the stuff I strongly believe in.

When sinking those long screws into hardwoods or just regular lumber, I’ll drag the screw across a bar of soap that I keep in my tool belt. Man it really helps them sink good and tight with a lot less stress on my impact driver and it makes the battery life last a lot longer too. You should give it a try next time your project requires over 3” screws👍

Kris your woodworking is a joy to watch. I'm not making this comment to be critical. I did observe a possible problem with mounting the roof glass. The facia board should have been hand planed to the same angle of the rafters. That way the glass lays flat. I did see at least a 1/4" gap at the lower rafter and glass. I'm afraid of leaks or cracking if not corrected now. I hope I helped without intimidating or chastising your wonderful wood working skills.

I love your videos and have been watching 4 years now! One suggestion, instead of lifting the car you could alternatively dig and concrete a pit around 2' wide 5' long and a depth around 5' with a couple of metal covers when not in use. That way you don't have to lift or support anything, and can move comfortably in and out from under the car to work on it while retaining your full shop space. Much cheaper than a modern automotive lift and requires no electricity or power.
Love your work, when you were building the water generator some years ago I was so inspired, watched it like a TV series!

Years ago I framed houses. You are correct about the ''spreading'' force when there is no ceiling beam for triangulation. Allow me to suggest something. No car on a lift is going to all the way up. The bottom of the rafters are an upside down ''V'' . This means you can get a small amount of triangulation up near the bottom of your ridge. Figure your narrowest car, measure the roof and have the cross piece an inch higher than the car can go.. Cross piece can be a plywood gusset, steel strap or conventional lumber well nailed. I'm sure you already thought of this, but on the off chance you didn't..........

Another great video Kris. Some takeaways from my perspective (for what it's worth).
    1) I think you made the correct decision about the roof line/roof pitch. From a cost/benefit perspective, the amount of time you will have the van or whatever other vehicle on the lift will be but a tiny fraction in comparison with the times you will pass by that building being bothered by the aesthetic of an excessive bulge to your roof line. You made the right trade off.
    2) This is the first video where I really appreciated the nature imposed rhythm of working with the mixture of power sources you have on hand (i.e. wind, solar, hydro). While at first it might seem a pain to wait for things to power up, if you didn't have that forced downtime, you would have missed out on some of the other simple pleasures around your home such as taking puss puss out for a visit with the sheep. The older I get, the more important I think it is to take time to slow down and appreciate things. This may be a reason why so many of us enjoy this channel and others like it.
Can't wait to see the preparation for the turf roof. Very interested to see how that is done so that the wooden understructure doesn't rot away. Great stuff as always Kris!

I loved doing cedar shingles, although you do need plenty, as the overlap is about 2/3rds at shallow pitches. I've also love the spare stainless ARS nails that are left over. Your joinery was as impressive as ever.
