I keep coming back from time to time to listen to this cause it's so great! I like the original don't get me wrong. Not putting it down. But this is even better to me. I love the tone and delay. And the playing is so you! Not putting on someone else/trying to play exactly like someone else. And you're able to pull it off in spades! A natural talent! Make me a bit jealous. :) I've played for about 32 years and I'll never be this good. Don't ever quit man!

People keep questioning the quality of the recording, using the argument that because of the lack of street noise, it must be recorded in a studio and dubbed on later. The truth is that James used a battery powered digital recorder, placed just in front of the speaker / amp to record his LIVE performance. You can only see the edge of it in this video, but if you look at the following TH-cam posting below, you can see it more clearly

Wait for the little boy to appear in the middle of the video and you will see it on the floor in front of the speaker. James used this live street recording to sync with the video when he got home. It's positioning almost eliminates all the street noise, but you can still hear the little boy say goodbye just before he turns and runs away. The result is a fantastic quality recording. NOTE: James won young Guitarist of the year at the Royal Festival Hall in London at age 13, he is one of the best Guitarists in the UK.

I used to play this song over and over when I was learning guitar back in 1982. I couldn't hold a candle to you then and still couldn't today. That was fantastic. Really made me smile to see you doing that cover. Rock on!
I never learned to play the guitar but I definitely played Strangers In The Night possibly more than any album I've ever owned. I owned vinyl, cassette and 2 different versions of the CD. Nobody outside UFO has done this song justice like Mr. Bell in this vid IMHO.

63 years old here. I was blown away when I heard UFO's live album, Strangers in the Night in 1979. This guy is a genius and a natural. So clean and technical version of Rock Bottom.

Whoever said that is probably a shit player. I play but I'm pretty rubbish. I've been at it years but I justify don't have that natural 'feel' that some people have. It doesn't make me hate good players though. I actually like watching people do things that I can't.
The live version of this on 'Strangers In The Night' has one of the greatest and most melodic solos ever and there are snippets of that solo here. Nicely played. I wish I had been passing, you would have got a nod and a fiver from me :-)

I've been to at least 25 Grateful Dead concerts, I've seen Jimmy Hendrix live back in the 60's, Jefferson Airplane, The Beatles, Eric Clapton, Blue Oyster Cult, Kansads and many more old and new bands alike. Most of the legends! Your as good, or better than many of them! Don't ever undersell yourself. That you can play as phenominal as you can at your young age, just blows me away and I can only imagine what your going to be like even just a few years from now. You have mastered your craft and I look foreword to many years of your playing! I've already put everyone of the songs you played on youtube on my Ipod and listen to them daily. Do you have an album out yet? Its my dream to visit the UK sometime soon and I hope your playing a gig when I do go there as it will definitely be on my itinerary.
