Even though we in 2020 and I had these cars over 10 years ago and still love them. I have a 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander 100k bumper to bumper and bought it brand new with 3 miles.. Same thing.. My first SC430 which was a 2009 was totaled when someone hit me head on, and it was the common silver color. I was very bummed and ended up finding a 2006 with about 60k on it, and bought it from the kid of an owner who passed away sadly and seriously loved the car, with all maintenance done at the dealer.. Just a few months before, they had put over 10k into the car including new run-flat's and I felt bad because there is no way the car needed everything that was done, and I felt like the previous owner was taken advantage of, but it ended up working in my favor and the best of all I got it in Blue which I always wanted but harder to find. I have done many mods since, but my exhaust is a custom true dual with the resonators removed, and 2 Flowmaster mufflers and the car sounds demonic, and actually crackles as you let off the gas while the car is revving.. I have a Weapon R Intake on the car as well, and between the 2 mods its the loudest SC430 I have heard so far.. I actually had to take the intake along with other mods off however to smog it in CA unfortunately.. lol.. I am thinking of adding a resonator back to the mix, and if that is not enough I will buy that Magnaflow muffler by itself and work it into my existing exhaust setup. The insurance company let me keep my first SC430 which was stripped down, so I have plans for the spare engine to extract a lot more power, and to also mod the transmission and use a higher-stall torque converter.. I had Ed Hanson in San Diego County California do a full Cat Back System. Sound was a little deeper. Ed said by taking one pair of the extra mufflers out , using larger diameter tubing and doing x member to balance exhaust flow that it 1. increased midrange power and fuel mileage a little that would show up on a Dyno. Anyway getting on my SC going on the freeway - it pulls Very Strong. Went to Las Vegas from Phoenix last year where a lot of the speed limit was 75 and would say I avg 70+. Got 25.1 mpg going to Vegas and coming back to Phoenix got 25.6 mpg. And like You this was my 2nd one - First one totaled by a Truck that hit me - Looked at new cars but I liked driving my SC so much - Luxury car( smooth & quiet), Convertible , sporty and Dependable - just do regular maintenance - Love it. If Your not aware of who Ed Hanson is - He has a 4 bay Garage in Spring Valley Ca. and does nothing but Exhaust Systems - has big Rep among the car culture. Loved Your video .......

Of course as long as you take care of it. I have put around 5000 miles since I got it. And it's already at 165k. And I'll make one once I get the time!
Try a true dual exhaust without crossover. Two completely separate pipes, one for each bank, with two separate mufflers. It sounds so much better (not loud, if you get the mufflers) than the y-pipe you won't believe the difference.
I had that with 2.5" pipes going to magnaflows.. I installed an X-pipe and have flowmasters now, and it absolutely sounds demonic now, and crackles and pops just like the exotics do.

Thanks for your review! Like you, many many years ago i saw one of these in the UK - and thought what the hell is that, it was different and i really liked it. It would have been quite new back then!, the Business owner who owned it was a super nice guy, and even took me out in it!( as an electrician working at his factory) He explained to me, he didnt want a Merc or a BMW, and decided on the SC 430. He was smitten, he rated it higher than any other vehicle he had owned, and by far the most reliable! He actually kept the car for about 12 years. I was blown away with the quality of the interior etc. Now is the time that i can purchase one, I cant wait seen a couple of nice imports here with 40K on. The first thing i will modify will be the exhaust - i hope i can get one here in the UK!
I just got a 2010 SC430 - black and tan. I have so many questions for you. The HID lighting up front - how? The black top - was it repainted? What did you install that pushbutton which automatically raises and lowers the top? I am not mechanical but I love those upgrades. There is no backup camera - which surprised me since my 2008 GS460 has backup cam and push button start w/ key fob - but every thought of adding that in? I live in Austin - we should meet up sometime if you're available. Weekends are best for me.

No performance mods other than the injen intake. And I didn't have to if you're referring to the engine plastic cover. I had to shove it in there pretty good but the two nuts are still holding the cover down.

Didn't delete resonator. Didn't find a Borla specific to the SC430. I know these are specifically made for the SCs. No welding needed.
