- The Boston Celtics defeated the Dallas Mavericks, 107-89, in Game 1 of the 2024 NBA Finals Presented by TH-cam TV to take a 1-0 series lead. Jaylen Brown led the Celtics with 22 points and 6 rebounds while Kristaps Porzingis (20 points (8-13 FG), 6 rebounds).
Kristaps Porzingis scored 18 points in the first half of Game 1 of the NBA Finals after having not played in both the Conf. Semifinals and Conf. Finals. It is the most points by a player in Game 1 of The Finals after having missed the previous two rounds since the league transitioned to a 16-team format in 1984.
Previously, the most points by a player who fit these qualifiers was 7 points, by Andre Iguodala (GSW v BOS on June 2, 2022).

I dont think it's motor, just health - he was just under 30 min for the season, but a lot of that was bc when the C's were blowing people out, they'd sit him early. Then the refs let Miami dive through his legs for a few games, and all the careful management went out the window.

Man Celtics with healthy KP too much fire power Dallas needs big adjustments for game 2. KP got the freshest leg out of all the starting 5 and it’s showing. Man Boston getting so lucky this year they faced injured teams so didn’t need KP and he got so much rest got healthy just on time for the Celtics.
Celtics still beat Jimmy, Donovan and Haliburton when those 3 were still in the playoffs before getting hurt.

For the Celtics to win this series, they need to be consistent with their great defense and solid shooting. They must also veer away from being stagnant for a certain quarter. (They tend to do that which results to the lead being cut and then they lose.) They need to keep the enerygy consistent and energy flowing. Don't let the narrative affect their team plays. They all need to be healthy.
For the Mavericks to win this series, they need to find a way to make every player engage like they did with the TWolves. Luka can handle his own. The entire team just needs to feed on that energy and determination.
