Thank u,i enjoyed the video ,now i can prune my guava tree, how about fig trees?

Yes, as long as we’re free from freezes. Figs are best pruned when dormant, but if they’re overgrown, do what you must. If I’m late on pruning figs, I usually wait until after the first flush of fruit to do a late prune.

What is a good pesticide for guava trees ? I bought a 4-5’ tree and it’s doing great for I found some flies on the leaves and some white markings, I bought some Neem oil to see how it works I’m in South Texas

I make the tea with dry and fresh leaves. I like the fresh leaf tea taste. I boil the water first then add the leaves and immediately turn the fire off. Let the leaves in to a max of 10 min and get a nice smooth light guava leaf tea.

Does your fruit get maggots inside. I’m in South Florida and find it frustrating and disappointing to see a great crop and see the maggots when cutting into them. Any thoughts or recommendations. I’ve tried bagging but very time consuming and impossible to bag everyone.

I have not had this problem. With peaches, I've heard covering them in clay helps with things of this nature. That, or diatomaceous earth.

I have the same issue in Port St. Lucie, trying various techniques, picking early, homemade baits hanging from tree, picking up any dropped fruit daily, soaking fruit I pick to locate worms and they drown when the wiggle out in the water, spraying tree with Monterey garden spray, and just bagging the fruit I can use and not trying to bag too many. Still a work in progress. Going to prune today.

@@sidneywhite749 I’m finding it interesting to hear that you soak them in water. What’s your procedure for doing that. Do you cut them open of place the entire fruit in water.

@@davidlatif7829 just put freshly picked whole fruit in a bowl of tap water and within a few hours I see some worms wiggling out of the fruit and a few dead ones already in the bottom. I am just testing this concept. Afterwards I drain the bowl and rinse then put into the fridge until I have enough to make into preserves. I bought an expensive Oxo brand ricer to separate the seeds from the juice. It’s an pita but I will not let the bugs beat me down. Any fallen fruit get disposed because I learned they were mostly infected. Share any ideas you have.

Yes, it made it through that HARD FREEZE. It came up nearly from the ground. Hopefully it wasn’t grafted.

Maybe Notching where leafs fell off, I have a guava that's about 6' and it had a bare branch and leafs on the ends and I notched above the old leaf buds and it's starting to put out new grows in those branches, if you don't know what noching is put it in heading and there are videos explaining how to notch your fruit trees.on TH-cam, sharp knife and go in about 1/64” not to deep enough where you will feel resistant of the wood, Good Luck

Dark green leaves, is it Ruby Supreme?
You should make more goat videos or incorporate them more. I believe many people are interested in renting a goat 😆.
