I think it's so cute how passionate the haters are, like it's really important to them that the music sounds a certain way because they secretly love the band so much, it says more about them than it does about us haha
First time I've come back to this video since the album came out. I always used to share your music with my little brother because I love your music and wanted to share it with him. It's been 2 weeks since he passed away and this was one of his favorite Periphery songs. Thank you guys for doing what you do and giving us something to bond over. I love you Thomas. 2/24/96 - 1/13/19 ❤
It's 2021. P2 is one of my most favorite albums of all time and I'm finally giving the Juggernaut albums a listen. Angry that I slept on them. Periphery is so fucking good.
I feel like with EVERY new album a band comes out with it suddenly sounds "less heavy" or "pop" and I question where people get "pop" from this is no where near and in my perspective will never sound like that because this is COMPLETELY different and no where near sounding like pop. There's guitars, there's bass, there's drums, there's screams, aggression, confidence, loud, enthusiastic, performance in these fine musicians. But why do people think it's less heavy all of a sudden. It still sounds like periphery to me. If you guys listen very..very..VERY close to how they play you will suddenly realize what their style is and accept and respect for what they are. I remember my first song I heard was make total destroy , I went back and heard their old stuff.. They were very interesting it was very different unlike any band I heard in my opinion and it's crazy how I grew passionate for this band and had nothing but respect for them. Keep up the great work guys! Btw not every music has to be so "heavy" open your horizons rather than narrowing your taste and style down. Music is about opening up not narrowing. Gain some appreciation people.
THIS GOES OUT TO ALL THE MEMBERS OF PERIPHERY!!! How dare you guys try to explore and grow as musicians, music isn't subjective, its all about what I want. Making the same album over and over is the key to success, look at all the greats The Beatles, The Pink Floyd, The Nickleback, I rest my case. Let me give you guys some unsolicited carer advice, on the next album just make 14 different versions of "Icarus Lives", you will be on your way to becoming the next Kid Rock for sure. Also yea I know I don't have the success you guys do, but what I do have is an Axe FX, superior drummer, and a computer, thus technically making me a part of the "industry" and my opinion valid.
Your opinion is wrong. Making 14 different Icarus Lives is NOT the way to success. They should do 14 versions of Scarlet, but without the screams. Screams are satanic, and make people not like a song.
This song is literally amazing, I love the dynamic between major and minor, almost exists in between the two, and I really think that this stuff takes on the old Periphery and just enhances it so much. Absolutely love it.
God has truly blessed these men with CRAZY CREATIVITY. This is such a good song. Thanks so much for sticking to the grind to get these songs out to us! We love them!!!
I love everything Periphery has released for Juggernaut. As a guitar player and a musician myself, I know that it's hard to write music to the masses. Metal has always been about mixing your influences into what you as a fan wants to hear. Write music for yourself, not to the masses. Periphery is a great band of GREAT musicians and I wish I had half the talent that any member in Periphery has. They write MUSIC. Not your typical stock ass metal riffs. There's enough of those bands. I'm all for anything Periphery does.
I think this is awsome, it really shows how diverse they can be, its nice to hear different types of progressions rather then the same riff over and over again
Periphery is welcome to make whatever type of music they want to. I have absolutely no right to tell them otherwise as I would never want any band to cave into something they don't feel is "right". My opinion though is that from what I have heard in this song, and from the previous album as a whole is that they are moving away from what made me like them. Yeah their first album was heavy as fuck with mostly minor progressions but it was much more than that for me. Every track just had this presence and balls that made me want to re-listen to every song over and over again. The previous album just sounded so...so tame and uninspiring and that is exactly what I am sensing from these early releases from the new album(s). Even the heavy parts just seem off. Anyways just one man's opinion please don't get discouraged from it. Your newer stuff is just not my cup of tea right now. But please for the love of god smack some sense into me and pull a comeback kid and somehow blow me away with this new album. I want to like you guys I really do.
No worries dude, and fair dinkum if you aren't into what we are putting out now. We are incredibly happy with these albums and I know I have never been so excited to release our music before, so I would urge you to give the albums a bunch of fair spins from front to back to see if that sways you, but if it doesn't then we are glad to have had your support for at least a little bit. Cheers!
Misha Mansoor Fingers crossed for this one; by the way thanks for posting that MIDI Drum Programming video on Top Secret Audio's channel. It helped immensely for a demo song I was working on yesterday.
Misha Mansoor In all honesty, you guys will keep getting better and better. Everyone says how this sounds so commercial, but I believe you guys should get noticed even more by popular media. Cause in all honesty, more people need to hear you. You guys are just so damn good, you talented mofos have yet to fail at making awesome records. You guys keep being awesome!
Those who say it is too poppy, apparently did not care for "Clear" too much. Keep it up guys. The evolution of this band just goes to show, you are IMO, the most talented musicians I have heard.
People familiar with a band will come to a new release with expectations. An evolving band, especially with a certain amount of hype, will disappoint those flocking with those expectations (as we are now seeing in the comment section). Really like what I'm hearing on this track: fun, melodic, cinematic and groove metal that doesn't sound like Meshuggah worship (refreshing!). The only thing i'd like to see Periphery do more of going into the future is be a little more dynamic! it seems to be either clean/ambient/electronica stuff or balls-out-metal: rarely anything between.
Kyle Cornwell I don't really think so. I feel their first album was much more focused, and they've added more stuff to their sound in the subsequent albums.
I like that Periphery does studio updates often. Remembering little gems that were in those updates in these songs is kind of sweet. Like the little solo at 4:23.
There's so much musical technicality going on throughout this song, just use your ears people, this is a great song. Haters need to stop hating and just enjoy this great music. I've been jamming daily to every single one of the songs they've released. GO PERIPHERY!
nutty nintendo intro: CHECK Does it djent?: YES IT DOES Addicting chorus: CHECK triple guitar crazyness: CHECK Halpern wrecking face on drums: CHECK Sexy bridge/Wicked ending: CHECK cant wait for these cd's...
I started listening to Hard Rock when i was 11 and was opened up to metal when i was around 13. Through the years of 13 to 16 I was all about Avenged Sevenfold, Rise Against, Breaking Benjamin, Attila, etc.. Now, at 17, after being introduced to periphery, I cant find it in me to listen to any other band besides Periphery because their not just your stereotypical Metal band. Periphery is a group of incredible talented musicians with a passion for music. I'm inspired beyond any scale from the way they know how to create a beautiful rhythmic feel of any emotion without basing it on one instrument (i.g. most rhythm guitars would play a simple extended cord to capture emotion as the lead plays individual notes to fill.) Everything is always moving and when they do get stuck play cords they always find a way to make up for it, either introducing a complex pattern or an incredible vocal moment to keep you jamming out no matter where you may be blasting their amazing sound. I myself one day plan to go to college for music, including Sound Engineering, and really hope to find people willing to start a Progressive Metal band that would be strongly influenced by Periphery. I feel this world has slowly been taking a turn in the wrong direction in terms of music. Its time to show the world that music isn't all about a songs vocals or beat or lyrics, its about the part of music where creativity is a proven freedom full of talent. Keep on jamming Periphery! Allow your influence on music to spread forever in the future!
I really like how no song is the same so far with what they've released and that goes for all their releases in general. It still has the technicality I come to enjoy but still show evolution in then writing style without loosing integrity. This is a solid track and I'm stoked for the new albums
So far what I've heard on this album is fantastic! You guys really put a lot of work into developing your ideas and it shows. I like how the tunes leave more room for vocals. I love a riff fest as much as any other guitarist but this album shows a lot more maturity in my opinion. Great job guys!
Though my two cents don't really matter, I love where Spencer's vocals are heading. He's improved so much from album to album. The instruments are more bad-ass than ever as well! Good on you, Periphery, for making the music that makes YOU happy. Can't wait for the release!
I love that the first thing you hear is the decay of the final note of song the preceeds it. Those single piece of music albums though!!!!!! I love you guys.
Poppy? When you were inside your mother as a foetus, when it came time for your brain to develop, something went seriously wrong and you ended up with shit in your skull instead of a brain. That's gotta be what happened because Periphery doesn't make poppy music.
I definitely hear the vocals taking a more pronounced position and the guitars being rolled back a little. Any band at one point or another is going to evolve, you wouldn't listen to the same album the rest of your life so why expect them to write the same album? They write what they feel at the time. I can 100% hear the collaboration on this more so than previous albums and so far I dig it. I don't understand what people are up in arms over, this is a killer fucking song and I'm frothing at the mouth waiting for more! Keep it up guys!
OFFICIAL LYRICS: It's always better on the other side of it Wanting what you never have It is a goddamn, broken state of mind that we've been living in It's never greener inside the mess we're in Wanting what you never have The less we are content the more we throw away what little time we have left to grow Separate mind from me, but still I have no adamant will to leave What little time we have Stop bleeding on the inside We are alive, and it's more than enough to paint the walls that are white Can we show the one's who are blind? It's envy eating away at the core of us Wanting what you never have Isn't it the point of living to breathe Knowing this is all we need It's never greener inside the mess we're in Wanting what you never have The less we are content the more we throw away what little time we have left to grow Separate mind from me, but still I have no adamant will to leave What little time we have Stop bleeding on the inside We are alive, and it's more than enough to paint the walls that are white Can we show the ones who are blind? Show them that we're not blind! We're not blind! Stop bleeding on the inside We are alive, and it's more than enough to paint the walls that are white Can we show the ones who are blind? Fly past the withered trees Ascend to holy air and breath (Separating) (drive me crazy) Separating mind) This want is menacing and will not leave us be Can we purge this? The bastard in our brain will chew until it bleeds How did we get like this? Step out in the rain Feel life in our veins
@@looksirdroids9134 What I meant was these were posted from the lyric sheet in the physical CD. These TH-cam videos were posted about a week before the actual release date and only a few people got their physical copy early.
You fucking kidding me? Rob Halford and Dio are absolutely amazing and have some of the best range, and unlike Spencer they don't sound like whining emos
***** There's no difference. They're all incredible singers and the only reason people dislike Periphery is because their insecure metal sexuality dictates that all "good" metal should have infinite blast beats and pig squeals.
Could not be more stoked. I keep hearing riffs from the studio updates and now I see how they pieced it together. From Icarus Lives to here, I've experienced one of the greatest, most epic bands this genre (and other genres perhaps) has to offer. No, THE most epic band. These guys cover more ground than many other bands would hope to cover, and yet this is only their third full-length album. Juggernaut will be swell, but I hope for future releases they do not cave in their originality.
Really looking forward to this release. Every song so far seems to have it's own identity, like well-developed characters in a TV show/anime/etc. It seems like you guys had a certain direction that you wanted each individual song to go in, so I'm real curious as to what their specific roles are in the story, and how they all tie together.
I love how all these people talk shit on the band, then as soon as the band responds directly to their comment, they immediately retract what they said and try to play it cool with them. Anyway, love this track. Probably my favorite one released so far.
I don't see why people are complaining. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and that's what "good music" is (YOUR opinion). Personally, I like all the songs they've showed us from Alpha and Omega so far. Keep on making great music Periphery!
Periphery is just one of those bands that I can appreciate anything they put out. I've always liked them for their diversity, not for just one of their many sounds. I might not be as hooked on the new material as some of their older stuff, but I'm still thoroughly enjoying it and I can't wait to listen to it all the way through. I don't understand where all the hate has been coming from.
*NOW YOU ONLY HAVE TO READ ONE COMMENT, I WILL PREDICT THEM:* 1. Spencer has a pop voice! 2. Periphery I was so much better than this! 3. I'm glad they're not djent (or otherwise some negative comment about djent) 4. Metal is starting to sound too much like pop! :( 5. Avenged Sevenfold, Black Veil Brides, and BOTDF suck!!! 6. That one RARE comment about how Periphery is taking a good direction Anyway, this song is pretty cool! Not as heavy as I prefer, but I like it! Looking forward to hearing some of the heavy stuff in the studio updates!
Ron Jeremy I'm the only other person who I've seen do this. I just think it's laughable how Periphery's haters and pseudo-fans have extremely predictable hate comments, that's all.
Lyrics It's always better on the other side of it Wanting what you'll never have And it's a goddamn broken state of mind Yeah, the one that we've been living in It's never greener inside the mess we're in Wanting what you'll never have The less we are content the more we throw away What little time we have left to grow Separate mind from hate Punch through the unknown Adamant will to leave the little time we have Stop bleeding on the inside, we are alive And it's more than enough to paint the walls that are white Can we show the ones who are blind? i'm a mix expert and let me just say that this thing has it all. lows, mids, highs. definitely some guitars, bass, and drums in there too. good effort misha!!
For years I practically refused to listen to Periphery because I was one of the people who couldnt get into Spencer's vocal style. I was a death metal vocalist at the time and was stuck in a box of "everything needs to stupidly heavy, fast, and include deep growls" but ever since I started branching out from the depths of death metal, deathcore, and well any and all things absurdly heavy I have discovered music that really transcends my expectations. First I stumbled upon Protest the Hero which opened a door for me as a vocalist that I never even thought of opening, then I stumbled upon Nothing More which opened even more doors to musicianship, and for the last few months I found Periphery which has blown my mind all over the damn place. Listening to Periphery has helped me find out that I can actually sing not just scream at the top of my lungs and do covers of anything that includes a rasp in your voice. I used to be the "fuck this music its for pussies" troll but now that I have sat down on multiple occasions and listened to Periphery's entire discography I can say without a shadow of a doubt that this is true musicians music along with the other bands I posted above. These guys found a way to combine pieces of so many different styles of music (note that I said music and not just metal) and craft them into works of art that it takes a deeper understanding of music itself to fully appreciate. Hell I just finished a play through of P1, Icarus, P2, Clear, all the singles from Juggernaut Alpha/Omega, and I see a band that is evolving into something much bigger than it was when it started. P1 was mostly Misha going absolutely ham on every song and now the new tunes are a culmination of the entire bands vision for their music. Its really refreshing to see a band expand upon their original sound without it taking away from what originally made them great. There are differences but that is called evolution my friends. 22 faces, The Bad Thing, and Graveless sound like old school Periphery without a doubt and Alpha has a way of getting stuck in your head for hours at a time even if you haven't listened to it in a while. I know trolls are going to come and rip this post to shreds because they think their opinion means more than anyone elses which it doesn't. Everyone's opinion means the exact same....nothing. Its just your personal point of view and nobody is wrong when its their opinion because its your own personal beliefs. I've been the troll and once you grow out of the box that you live in you'll realize that Periphery is carrying the torch for the future of metal and music alike. Let these guys keep doing their thing and quit bashing them because its not how you would go about writing the tunes. This is Spencer, Jake's, Misha's, Nolly's, Matt's, and Mark's band...not our's and we should be happy that they want to share their music with us and not keep it to themselves. Stop being internet trolls, if you don't like the music then go listen to something you do like and let the people who actually enjoy it converse about the music we all love. Keep up the great work Periphery!!! Those of us who truely appreciate your music have your back!!!!
Jeff Ayotte Not gonna jump your ass or anything, but I seriously hope you didn't mean to classify all girls as people who only like to listen to commercial, poppy easy-listening music. I understand if you didn't mean it that way, but, if you did, you are dead wrong. I'm a girl who was raised on metal bands such as Judas Priest, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Megadeth, and Pantera. I pretty much despise most pop music. Get your facts straight, man. lmao
Every time i listen to one of the new songs, I feel guilty because I know I should be waiting for the release to listen, to hear the album(s) in full. I agree, op.
but there are 16 (or 17?) Songs on those albums. which means they already published about 1/3 of thier work... I know how you are feeling. I shouldnt hear these songs, but I cant resist because I'm so stoked for the release. :D
You have to consider that there are twice as many songs to look forward to. They want to tease us with the project they have spent a lot of time experimenting with and perfecting. Since the album will drop in a couple weeks, they are most likely going to give us 3 songs of each album to tease us with before the full thing.
The production and tone is so thick and rich that you guys could give a enjoyable depth to practically anything you could think to play. Gorgeous stuff guys.
People tend to forget that Juggernaut is supposed to be a lot of experimental stuff. That being said, this is dope shit. I'm ready to throw some money down for Juggernaut Alpha/Omega.
I wish the power chord chugging part was more impactful, it didn't feel heavy enough, but I know it will live. On the other hand, I can't stop listening to this song, it's so good!
My favorite thing about these albums has to be listening to them front to back, over & over again. While finding things I didn't hear before and also hearing parts of other songs. This is a tremendous band and a killer album(s).
I will never understand how people can be so critical of the music bands like Periphery put out, obviously they have some different style here but you can't deny that it's still good fucking music. Just listen and enjoy it. If bands wrote every song to be one signature style they'd get old and generic and you'd complain about that instead...
Does anyone have any clue what the story is about? Can we discuss the concept for once? This is the foundation of the album and no one seems curious about it
Love this song. So many dimensions to it. I like some of the recurring lyrical themes Spencer's throwing in. Can't wait to hear the albums in their entirety.
I'll be honest, at first i was not feeling it, but at about the half way point the switch in my head flipped from "dumbass" to "tasteful musician" and i have determined that this track is pretty tasty. My compliments to the chef
**Enter catchy yet sarcastic comment about how much I hate this song so I can feel popular because I don't want to admit that this song or the albums are pretty good**
I've really enjoyed each song they've released! Keep writing the music you guys want to! Spencer sounds awesome pushing the limits of metal vocals. Spencer's vocals sound extremely demanding.
Yo, has anyone began piecing the story together from the lyrics yet? I wanna hear some theories. Obviously something to do with a main character/dude, hell, the woods, and a spooky monster (wraith?). Lots of faces, too
I'm just as lost as you. Even with 3 songs being back-to-back (and now a title track which would (imo) imply some serious connections), I haven't pieced anything together besides the "you're buried alive" bit in 22 Faces and The Bad Thing.
Just curious are you familiar with Spencers lyrics in the past? It can be complicating if you aren't aware. Though if you do understand what it is actually about it is pretty neat.
Yeah, I've tried deciphering that in the past, mostly to no avail; they have explicit themes in songs like have a blast and make total destroy, but on the other hand, I have no clue what Ji or racecar is about. Haha. I'm really stoked to see all of the artwork in full, it should give a lot away.
There are a few references to pushing and pulling (The Scourge, 22 Faces, Psychosphere), seems to have something to do with the cover art of Alpha. All the references to walls as well make me curious about the house on the cover of Omega. Also looks like some sort of rip in the Earth/reality under the house, which ties in with The Bad Thing and The Scourge. Mind control seems to be a theme as well, "Now I am a product of a mind that wasn't ever mine". MK Ultra was a secret government mind control project. The themes are all coming together, but the most of the acutal story I can clean is that the main character faces a struggle to control his own body and finds himself travelling to either some sort of afterlife or a parallel world. I think I might be what you could call an obsessive fan.
Nah man, you're on to something! I looked up the theory of rainbow gravity as well; interesting stuff (theory essentially denounces the idea of the Big Bang)! The song title hell below makes me think that the "bad thing" was the main character being tricked into opening a path into hell. Some of the preorder merch has some of the other art on it to, and everyone in the band keeps pushing this theme of "the wraith", even though there hasn't really been any explicit references in the music yet
I know you guys (Periphery members) don't really let the fans dictate what kind of music you write. Even though you probably don't care what this random internet stranger has to say, thought I'd let you know I absolutely love your old songs, and these new ones are blowing me away with awesomeness. Can't wait to see your show with Nothing More!
It doesn't even really have a major "tonality." The two "major" sounding chords in the intro are both minor chords (with some additions that form the major sounding triads). And although the chorus has a "poppy" chord progression, I feel like it makes the odd-meter more digestible. I think the music sounds fresh and inspired, but that's just my opinion. #BILLYMAYSISSTILLALIVE
To be most perfectly honest.... Super hyped for this album still. I love it when artists try to take new directions with their work or even go out of their way to produce something they found enjoyment in doing! Keep up the awesome work guys!
However, if there is some justice on this planet that band is certainly going to be big! *watch?v=mTmBhs7rYsI* Absolutely Love her voice! Go take a look at the video
Cobbled together some lyrics I could tease from the video and the fourth webisode - please do help correct any mistakes! :) It's always better on the other side of there Wanting what you never have It is a goddamn broken state of mind Here, the one that we've been living in It's never greener inside the mess we're in Wanting what you never have Unless we all contend the more we throw away What little time we have left to grow Separate mind from hate, what do we have now? "" What little time we have Stop bleeding on the inside We are alive And it's more than enough to paint the walls in our word Can we show the ones who are blind? It's envy eating away at the core of us Wanting what you never have And isn't it the point of "" Knowing this is all we get? It's never greener inside the mess we're in Wanting what you never have Unless we all contend the more we throw away What little time we have left to grow Separate mind from hate, what do we have now? "" What little time we have Stop bleeding on the inside We are alive And it's more than enough to paint the walls in our blood Can we show the ones who are blind? Can we show the ones who are blind? Stop bleeding on the inside We are alive And it's more than enough to paint the walls in our blood Can we show the ones who are blind? "" Sent to all the air we breathe [repeat once] This want is menacing It will not leave us be Can we purge this? The bastard in our brain will chew until it bleeds Until we get like this How did we get like this? Can we purge this? Step out in the rain Feel life in our veins [repeat once] How did we get like this? Can we purge this? The bastard in our brain will chew until it bleeds How did we get like this?
The song is good in my opinion. Pretty groovy. But the vocals at 4:19 just kill it. If there's any more of that normal voice then scream shit in the album I will cry.. Lol. Spencer sounds decent either way but man does it remind me of some Bless the fall or bring me the horizon shit...
I think it's so cute how passionate the haters are, like it's really important to them that the music sounds a certain way because they secretly love the band so much, it says more about them than it does about us haha
Jake Bowen gets a single like. Love it!!!!!!!!!!!! Well two now.
I see it as a sign of you guys really hitting it big
I love this personally. Strongest song so far.
good job guys, i really like how u can play anithing and make it sound good, keep goin , experiment, learn and make new good stuff just like now!
yall are just some bs djenty downtuned pop punk now lol damn nigga you gay
First time I've come back to this video since the album came out. I always used to share your music with my little brother because I love your music and wanted to share it with him. It's been 2 weeks since he passed away and this was one of his favorite Periphery songs. Thank you guys for doing what you do and giving us something to bond over. I love you Thomas. 2/24/96 - 1/13/19 ❤
Please stop saying it sounds "poppy" just because it's got a major tonality. This is great. Favorite from the releases so far.
Personally, I think it does sound really commercial. Sumerian strikes again.
Would modern punk be better for you?
Explain "major tonality"
***** I think he's saying its in the major scale. Which gives more of a....uh...."happy" sound to a song. Rather than being in the minor scale.
***** so many accidentals that one couldn't say it's cut and dry major key.
Spencer's performances on these albums are fucking amazing. His screams have gotten soo sick.
Right? On the bad Thing, he sounds freaking evil
Yeah totally agree with you bro, you really speak the truth, Id love to hear more of your opinions on these things. We should like start a band.
Dibs on kazoo
You can tell it - this band knows how to make music, and they love to do it. Periphery rocks so much it makes me hurt.
It hurts me too I can't stand how good they sound.
That chorus, a great song :)!
I didn't like it at first but then I realized I was being close minded. this song rocks
+Mike Hart Same honestly
Me too
I did the same thing
The level of self awareness in this thread, is truly unprecedented for the comment section of a TH-cam video.
What's wrong with The Beatles....?
Cameron Ratliff Nothing they are one of the greats!
That's what I'm sayin'!
Your opinion is wrong. Making 14 different Icarus Lives is NOT the way to success. They should do 14 versions of Scarlet, but without the screams. Screams are satanic, and make people not like a song.
haha
This song is literally amazing, I love the dynamic between major and minor, almost exists in between the two, and I really think that this stuff takes on the old Periphery and just enhances it so much. Absolutely love it.
4 years later and this remains one of the catchiest choruses of all time.
Cheers!
I think its really fricken cool that you are replying to the comments, loving the work on this album so far, btw.
Misha Mansoor release hell below I'm sure they'll change their minds about juggernaut then hahaha
Love your work in porn industry, Ron. I admire you. You're my hero. I love you.
And if there's anyone who knows a thing or two about "balls-out," it's definitely Ron Jeremy.
I've found what I've heard from the new album to be pretty damn dynamic. Not every song, but the album as a whole sounds like its going to be.
I think evolving is a less appropriate term here, and that 'streamlining' is more appropriate.
Kyle Cornwell I don't really think so. I feel their first album was much more focused, and they've added more stuff to their sound in the subsequent albums.
I like that Periphery does studio updates often. Remembering little gems that were in those updates in these songs is kind of sweet. Like the little solo at 4:23.
the end of this song is so moving
Great track! New songs really are growing on me, glad Periphery aren't just putting out the same record over and over like a lot of bands seem to do.
There's so much musical technicality going on throughout this song, just use your ears people, this is a great song. Haters need to stop hating and just enjoy this great music. I've been jamming daily to every single one of the songs they've released. GO PERIPHERY!
Who are you calling "people"?
Easily the best single so far :D

cant wait for these cd's...
I hope that Misha eventually releases an solo album.
Have you never heard of Bulb?
Misha has so much solo work its ridiculous
"an solo"
Hahahaha
I can't wait for an juggernaut albumz
Zack Hammack lol. I'm leaving that in.
I've loved everything periphery has released so far, they're absolute musical genius
SOOOOOOOOO GOOOOOOD. Find me one band that comes even close to the unique sound that Periphery has. Nope. They're in a league of their own.
I really like how no song is the same so far with what they've released and that goes for all their releases in general. It still has the technicality I come to enjoy but still show evolution in then writing style without loosing integrity. This is a solid track and I'm stoked for the new albums
This is great!
storyline...chord progressions....beats...vocals...all so good! also a huge fan of your work man
So far what I've heard on this album is fantastic!
I friggin KNEW this song was gonna be a jam the second I heard Spencer tracking it in the webisode you guys released. Outstanding job!
There's really nothing else out there like the poppy stuff Periphery is making. Spectacular. "Ear worm" doesn't do it justice.
Thank you Periphery for writing whatever you want and not molding Juggernaut to your fan's expectations. Looking forward to getting these albums.
OFFICIAL LYRICS:
It's always better on the other side of it
Wanting what you never have
It is a goddamn, broken state of mind that we've been living in
It's never greener inside the mess we're in
Wanting what you never have
The less we are content the more we throw away what little time we have left to grow
Separate mind from me, but still I have no adamant will to leave
What little time we have
Stop bleeding on the inside
We are alive, and it's more than enough to paint the walls that are white
Can we show the one's who are blind?
It's envy eating away at the core of us
Wanting what you never have
Isn't it the point of living to breathe
Knowing this is all we need
It's never greener inside the mess we're in
Wanting what you never have
The less we are content the more we throw away what little time we have left to grow
Separate mind from me, but still I have no adamant will to leave
What little time we have
Stop bleeding on the inside
We are alive, and it's more than enough to paint the walls that are white
Can we show the ones who are blind?
Show them that we're not blind!
We're not blind!
Stop bleeding on the inside
We are alive, and it's more than enough to paint the walls that are white
Can we show the ones who are blind?
Fly past the withered trees
Ascend to holy air and breath
(Separating)
(drive me crazy)
Separating mind)
This want is menacing and will not leave us be
Can we purge this?
The bastard in our brain will chew until it bleeds
How did we get like this?
Step out in the rain
Feel life in our veins
As opposed to what? Unofficial lyrics? These are the lyrics, there is no official, no unofficial.
@@looksirdroids9134 What I meant was these were posted from the lyric sheet in the physical CD. These TH-cam videos were posted about a week before the actual release date and only a few people got their physical copy early.
Refreshing stuff guys, see you on tour!
Hard to believe you're avoiding the connection to Pokemon when you make an intro like that haha sick tune!
Catchiest Periph tune thus far, I love it!
>Hates Spencer's vocals
>Actively listens to Rob Halford and Dio without complaint
inb9 maymay arros
You fucking kidding me? Rob Halford and Dio are absolutely amazing and have some of the best range, and unlike Spencer they don't sound like whining emos
***** There's no difference. They're all incredible singers and the only reason people dislike Periphery is because their insecure metal sexuality dictates that all "good" metal should have infinite blast beats and pig squeals.
techdeathcurator You are joking, yes?
PartyThrasher118 Whatever helps you sleep at night, I suppose.
Anything Misha writes is always golden to me
You had me at the 8-bit intro...or is it 16-bit?? Haha so awesome!!
Spencer writes the catchiest choruses
fuuuck, periphery choruses always get stuck in my head -.-
Could not be more stoked. I keep hearing riffs from the studio updates and now I see how they pieced it together. From Icarus Lives to here, I've experienced one of the greatest, most epic bands this genre (and other genres perhaps) has to offer. No, THE most epic band. These guys cover more ground than many other bands would hope to cover,
and yet this is only their third full-length album.
This is my favorite one so far! Can't wait for the full album
Time for my daily dose of that intro riff. So sick.
Alpha and omega albums have been a daily jam for a minute now. Loving every minute of it guys!
*NOW YOU ONLY HAVE TO READ ONE COMMENT, I WILL PREDICT THEM:*
1. Spencer has a pop voice!
2. Periphery I was so much better than this!
3. I'm glad they're not djent (or otherwise some negative comment about djent)
4. Metal is starting to sound too much like pop! :(
5. Avenged Sevenfold, Black Veil Brides, and BOTDF suck!!!
6. That one RARE comment about how Periphery is taking a good direction
Anyway, this song is pretty cool! Not as heavy as I prefer, but I like it! Looking forward to hearing some of the heavy stuff in the studio updates!
Nailed it.
A7x and bvb arnt that bad of bands but botdf does suck
Brad Hubbard BVB sucks pretty hard. This is a lot heavier. Not that they would be in comparison to them haha
you forgot:
7. the one guy who points out the types of comments to expect from a video.
Ron Jeremy I'm the only other person who I've seen do this. I just think it's laughable how Periphery's haters and pseudo-fans have extremely predictable hate comments, that's all.
I could listen to that chorus on loop for hours. Absolutely amazing. Periphery, you have outdone yourselves.

gotta love that chorus *_* And the twist in sound at the end. Great stuff Periphery :D
I think people are forgetting that these are concept albums so the songs are going to sound different as the story progresses
i'm a mix expert and let me just say that this thing has it all. lows, mids, highs. definitely some guitars, bass, and drums in there too. good effort misha!!
I'm speechless, you're amazing 😂🤯😁
I absolutely love every song that has come out.
I get more, and more excited with every song that debuts.
To all those claiming periphery sounds too "poppy" now, have you actually ever heard pop bands? Like One Direction and Maroon 5??
Well, usually when people here say "pop" they mean "popular-uninspired-metalcore".
Joshua H and those people have ignorance on such a level that is astonishing.
Or people used ''poppy'' for something commercial who many people (girls) like or something who isn't hard to listen
Jeff Ayotte way to lump us all into one category. I'm a girl and I listen to metal. (AKA music that is "hard to listen to")
Jeff Ayotte Not gonna jump your ass or anything, but I seriously hope you didn't mean to classify all girls as people who only like to listen to commercial, poppy easy-listening music. I understand if you didn't mean it that way, but, if you did, you are dead wrong.
I'm a girl who was raised on metal bands such as Judas Priest, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Megadeth, and Pantera. I pretty much despise most pop music.
Get your facts straight, man. lmao
I'm really enjoying the new stuff, and the production. Sounds HUGE.
Does anyone else wish that they wouldn't have released so many songs before the album? It's not gonna be as exiting now, in my opinion, but great song
Every time i listen to one of the new songs, I feel guilty because I know I should be waiting for the release to listen, to hear the album(s) in full. I agree, op.
Well there's two full albums coming out so they have some wiggle room.
but there are 16 (or 17?) Songs on those albums. which means they already published about 1/3 of thier work... I know how you are feeling. I shouldnt hear these songs, but I cant resist because I'm so stoked for the release. :D
Album probably leaked somewhere if they're releasing this many.
You have to consider that there are twice as many songs to look forward to. They want to tease us with the project they have spent a lot of time experimenting with and perfecting. Since the album will drop in a couple weeks, they are most likely going to give us 3 songs of each album to tease us with before the full thing.
I love the originality and the unpredictable progression through each new song. Thank you guys.
At 3:40 are the backing vocals for the screams saying "Separation"? What are the lyrics there.
What a roller coaster of a song. Amazing
I wish the power chord chugging part was more impactful, it didn't feel heavy enough, but I know it will live. On the other hand, I can't stop listening to this song, it's so good!
I love every song released so far. Pumped for the records!
ayyeee
My favorite thing about these albums has to be listening to them front to back, over & over again. While finding things I didn't hear before and also hearing parts of other songs. This is a tremendous band and a killer album(s).
I will never understand how people can be so critical of the music bands like Periphery put out, obviously they have some different style here but you can't deny that it's still good fucking music. Just listen and enjoy it. If bands wrote every song to be one signature style they'd get old and generic and you'd complain about that instead...
This song is so good. Between this and Graveless, I am so excited for these new albums! Can't wait to see you guys in Tempe on the 21st!
Does anyone have any clue what the story is about? Can we discuss the concept for once? This is the foundation of the album and no one seems curious about it
This! Please! We've got the title track with both its predecessor and successor and I have no idea how they connect lol.
In Spencer's interview he said that it has something to do with the occult.
oh god yes
I can tell this duo release album is going to be my favorite so far. So FRESH
You know, this song would fit perfectly into a Kirby game.
This is NOT a comment I expected but I secretly love it.
I mean it's basically a metal interpretation of Green Greens anyway.
Man, these albums are going to be sssooo good.
Dude I'm seeing this band for my birthday_💀
Love this song. So many dimensions to it. I like some of the recurring lyrical themes Spencer's throwing in. Can't wait to hear the albums in their entirety.
I'll be honest, at first i was not feeling it, but at about the half way point the switch in my head flipped from "dumbass" to "tasteful musician" and i have determined that this track is pretty tasty. My compliments to the chef
Matt drumming is great! Well written song.
This just sounds like they are trying to hit the billboard charts and get mass teen appeal. Ah well, RIP Periphery.
First time I've ever listened to this band. I love it!!!!!
Couldn't agree more with whoever this guy is
It doesn't even really have a major "tonality." The two "major" sounding chords in the intro are both minor chords (with some additions that form the major sounding triads).
This song gave me djent 000-0-000-0verl000-0-000-0ad
Alpha and The Bad Thing are by far my two favorite releases so far. 22 Faces is pretty chill too.
However, if there is some justice on this planet that band is certainly going to be big!

Absolutely Love her voice!
Go take a look at the video
Sounds like easycore. I like it!
Cobbled together some lyrics I could tease from the video and the fourth webisode - please do help correct any mistakes! :)

What i really think that you nailed on this album is your guitar tone and overal mix,Guitars sounds monster like.
I don't understand all the negativity in the comments. Then again it's youtube so people will always argue.
Oh man, I have been waiting for this one since Spencer's vocal video!
That's the exact bone I have to pick with the album. I can't hate on their musical direction, though. These guys are musical fiends.
You must not be familiar with Periphery then.
SooshiShef Uhh no. I'm very familiar, and that is why I noticed it, Spencer never did that in a single song before Juggernaut.
He did a bit in Scarlet.
Naw, I know what you're talking about, it's not like this.
Merge and elevate. I love you guys.
