"Saki" means root vegetables, "Mana" means boiled, and "punhi" means full moon. Sakimana Punhi is an agricultural cultural festival that is significant to the Newar community.
Sakimana Punhi is a Newari festival celebrated on the full moon of Kartik. It is a day of thanksgiving and respect that involves making figures of gods and temples using local grains. The Dafa community sings religious hymns and plays traditional instruments. Devotees eat pindalu (co-co yam) and sakharkhanda (sweet potato).
