Thanks bro, 1988 and 1989 were the best years for these cars. BTW Here is the part# for the ignition kit I mentioned. It's now being manufactured by Pro-Form pn# 440-426 you can find it in the Summit Catalog,
That's odd how the car doesn't have a bench seat in front. All the Gran Furies I've seen have it, including the one I own from '87. Apart from the that, the interior's practically identical; same color and everything.
@@omcara1 I had two Diplomats in the 80's and both of mine had a split bench seat but we had a couple that came with those single "bucket" style seats, which were supposed to be better for law enforcement use. I think all LE vehicles come with them now but back then it was an option that cost extra. Go figure. My next patrol vehicle was a 1986 Ford LTD-II and it came with those single seats. They were FAST but the seats were AWFUL.
@@CallMeMrStopmotion For some reason I was thinking those smaller LTD's from the early to mid 80's were referred to as the "LTD II" but after looking up an image of it I realize the "LTD II" was indeed an earlier version made in the 70's. While I never had one of those, I did have a 77 Thunderbird as my pov, which I believe used the same chassis as the LTD II. That said, my 86 LTD came with either a V6 or a V8 and being it was a law enforcement model it obviously came with a V8 and I believe they were made from 83-86. Again, this was nearly 36 years ago, of which I'm trying to remember the details about a state issued vehicle I had so I'm bound to have gotten something wrong.
+Brian Williams Hi Mr. Williams, glad to see you're back on air. Unfortunately, this car was not in Straight Out Of Compton. It has been in Donny Brasco, Drop Zone and True Lies. Although it was painted Green & White in those preceding films.
omcara1 ok ty. I’ve seen those initials used quite often and didn’t know what what the actual letters stood for. That’s what I was interested in finding out.
Here is another one of my classic cop cars. !966 PLYMOUTH BELVEDERE II in a music video. >>>>>>>> th-cam.com/video/f7euqPvGYxA/w-d-xo.html
I missed these type of police cars.
It has 5 letters on the grill, it's a Diplomat.
It's a Dodge Diplomat. It even says Dodge on the front grille.
That's a fantastic looking Gran Fury AHB. It's such as classic cop car look. Thanks for the tour! -Chris

@@omcara1 you have a very good car i hope your car survives
* Plymouth Gran Fury* Also, the flasher on the rear of your lightbar is frozen on blue.
Got an 88 gran fury, a good car.
Nice!!
I hear CSX in the background
I feel like it needs a rolled steel cage instead of the clear plastic one
I wonder if anyone would get out of the way seeing a old school police coming

I agree. This was a weird set up all the other AHB Dippys Iv'e had came wit bench seats too. Thanks for tuning in Nigel.
Buckets were standard. Bench and 60/40 split bench were optional.

+Brian Williams This was on the set of Rock Of Ages with Tom Cruise.

What is AHB?
It's an ordering code for "Police Package"

A38 from 1969 through 1983, AHB from 1984 through today.
Wish the cops today would ride on these bad boys.
Me too.👍
If cops had their choice choosing a cop car from the 80's, I think most would go with the Chevy Impala or Caprice.
@Steven Darkins eh, a lot of cops who drove them didn't really like them much, a lot of them said the suspension made it ride like a boat in water.
