I built the other 1971 Volvo 142 campaigned in the SCCA Trains Am and IMSA series on the East coast and mid-west. The car was owned and driven by Dr Art Mollin. At its first TransAm tech inspection at Lyme Rock we failed the weigh in as the car weighed in at 1875 lbs. We ended up adding lead ballast The car was run under IMSA rules at Daytona several times and also Sebring. Its last run at Daytona it was clocked at 169MPH on the back streight . Unfortunately, at 2:30 am the car came to a stop in the pits. The fuel supplied by Union 76 had been sabotaged and everybody got a dose of water. The Temperature that nite dropped down to 26 degrees F and caused fuel lines to freeze up leaning out the mixture burning valves and ended our run while we were in second place in class. This Volvo also ran many parts supplied by Richard Gordon and Volvo Sweden.
people who like this should watch the teratonga touring car classic *historics) with John Bowe in the volvo 240 turbo which won the Australian group A touring car championship with 320 bhp and 1030kg. Nothing looks as good as yours though.
Such a cool video! Rob helped rebuild the motor in my 142 it’s cool to see him drive this one!
My first car was a red 1972MY 142S, a magnificent vehicle for its time!

I think I saw that car or a similar 142 on marketplace recently. Was going for pretty cheap, but looked to still be in good shape
Damn the rain and those 510's 😀 Nice run Rob!
