Janmashtami also popularly known as Gokulastami is the festival of the mighty Lord Krishna.
Lord Krishna’s birthday is celebrated every year on the eighth day of Bhadrapada month’s Krishan Paksha, which falls in August-September as per the English calendar. This year, the festival will be celebrated on Monday, August 30.
Krishna Janmashtami, also known as Janmashtami or Gokulashtami or Krishnashtami, is an annual Hindu festival that signs the birth anniversary of Lord Krishna, the eighth avatar of Lord Vishnu. On the next day of Janmashtami, people celebrate the festival of Dahi Handi.
The festival is celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm and on this occasion, parents dress up their children as Krishna or gopiyan.
