  • Sweet comedy from the 60's and 70's
"Telephone Conversation" was written by Jannette Layne-Clarke in 1966 and later became the first episode of the immensely successful radio comedy series "Okras In The Stew". This performance was recorded in Guyana at Carifesta '72 by Radio Demerara.

Listen to Alfred on Rediffusion in Barbados in the mid sixties when I was about seven. Wonderful stuff. Thank you.

Alfred Pragnell was a well-loved storyteller who won acclaim for his performances of much of my aunt's material. This piece was recorded by REC and WIRL in 1973, and then "Tea for Two" was released in 1974.

Thanks for your kind comments. She will be featured on UWI TV in their "Research Room" programme on the Caribvision channel. I'll be doing the recording tomorrow.
