You guys at Sweetwater are the best in the industry. There's no contest. Real Musicians selling to other real musicians. It doesn't get less corporate than that. When I deal with your reps I feel like a human being rather than a customer. It's great
A very worthwhile vid. Especially as I record live drums always but apartment living has its disadvantages. But mainly leaving these set up for demos and spontaneous inspiration keeps the juices flowing. Sometimes you just want to put the idea down “live” even when you’re not ready for a live drum session… 👍🏽
The Roland Td27 was the BEST investment ive ever made in my entire life, Adding a new Kick and some extra thin cymbals a Czarcie kypoto pedal and it is EPIC.
What a GREAT and helpful video. I wish they'd put a link to the deep dives for each kit in the description so we could easily hear them and learn more.
Folks talking about “not hearing how it sounds” are trippin. An e kit sounds like 1000 different ways, and can sound how you want by adding your own samples
Hello, Future Sounds! You can indeed use electronic drums to trigger drum software instruments so long as the drum module itself supports MIDI, either via USB or via a 5 pin MIDI jack. In the latter situation (only a five pin MIDI jack), you'll need to have either a MIDI interface or a MIDI input on an audio interface. Thanks for the interest! Nick can you put a video out showing best practice using an e-Kit with a mixer live? I have the Roland 507 kit, Mackie powered speakers -212, just doesn’t sound very good. I was told to pickup a small board and add more compression and delay? I haven’t yet:(
Im trying to find an e kit specifically for home recording, all focus on the feel and build quality and the samples can be dogshit because ill just use midi output and vsts.
Swap out the first kit with the Alesis Nitro. I love Roland, but the Nitro just offers so much more at the same price point. I'd also swap the Yamaha kit for the Roland TD-17KV. Again, similar price but much more offered. If I had crazy cash, I'd go with that Pearl Mimic Pro, it's an insanely powerful drum module.
My biggest concern is playing response. I got a cheap kit (Donner) and it only picks up about 60% of anything I play. 16th notes are out of the question.
I’ve been researching my first electronic kit due to noise limitations where I live. I’ve heard about converting acoustic sets to electronic . Have you done this? I have no idea how to do it.
Hey, kernelxsanders. Thanks for reaching out. Unfortunately there isn’t one with that many inputs. You will need to use two modules and connect those outs to an interface or mixer. I hope this helps. I have enough $ to get a decent mid range set, but my problem is I need one thats very compact. I dont have that much room in my space. any recommendations for a compact midrange one? preferably one that can be folded up.
Hey, Cory. Thanks for reaching out. Yup. Sure does. It has an 1/8” aux input for that purpose. I hope this helps. Jason Thiele, Senior Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 1391, jason_thiele@sweetwater.com

I have a Yamaha DD-75 but I am thinking about get full electric drum kit that I can afford. I don't think it's going to be a Roland kit or Alesis idk if it's going to be Yamaha or Simmons. It's whatever I can afford. And if I can't be able to afford a decent electric kit, then I'm staying with my Yamaha DD-75
Thumbs down for leaving out two main factors. One, still no idea of price range. Second, still no idea of the sounds of each. The only thing explained is the components.
I've had it for three months. Its awesome! And the new digital hh will make it complete. Ordered it as soon as it was announced;) Had the td50kvx, but the toms and crashes on this thing is what I was missing. No hotspots and unbeatable feel. With sd3 as vst these vad-kits are the best on the market. By far.
Reading about cymbal choke problems with Alesis kits and toontracks SD3 and EZD products, so much were the feature is just disabled, I’m wanting to pickup an alesis mesh since they don’t sell TourTech in the states but I would like to use the choke feature with my toontracks products
Hey, Jake. Thanks for your interest. Both the Yamaha DTX and Roland TD27 and up are stellar for recording. Hope this helps. Jason Thiele, Senior Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 1391, jason_thiele@sweetwater.com

Love this! Can you guys do a drum mic > interface > whatever comes next for dummies soon, please? I know I need mics and stuff, but terms like preamps and compression and ins and outs and all that is just over my head and there is no videos out there that really just puts things into laymen’s terms.
Ordered my Roland TD-17KV from Sweetwater almost a year ago. I've used it on a bunch of freelance remote session work, countless private lessons, and on a solo EP I released last fall. It's wildly exceeded my expectations!
I have a donner ded-200 kit 4 cymbal one I love it it’s great it’s a great quality stand and kit the reason why it’s cheap and still is worth it with this 100% is that it has a really really crappy module has some nice kick sounds but everything else sounds crappy but the toms and snare are great! Quality nice triggering I guess but they are very small that’s the only downside of them but if you were to upgrade the model if you can do that and get expensive electric drum software like what I’m going to do it’s will probably be an amazing kit that just has small toms and snare lol also the kick pad supports a double bass pedal which I’m also getting the official ded video of them demonstrating the kit they have a double pedal on it😈
let your son play what he wants, there no proper way to start. Try the command pro, don't sound like your son needs all the crazy features that the 7000 TD50 has. You could have plugged them in. It would be nice to actually compare them. Also what the F is a sales engineer? That's some buzz word sales bs there if ever I heard it. I hate that dodgy nonsense.
You'd think a video claiming to help people choose an electronic kit on ANY budget, that it would actually cover ANY budget but it doesn't. Can't afford a 700-800 dollar kit on 700 dollars a fortnight.
I think if you're going to outline kits for different budgets, it would be very helpful to mention those actual budgets
Totally but the prices change all the time
You’d think a video outlining which electronic drum kits are good would include how the electronic drum kits sound.
Not necessary.
Exactly...
meh, more important is how it plays, sounds, there are too many good options
they sound the way the digital kit youre using sounds. i agree tho he should have talked/showcased sensitivity
Freaking right?
It would have been really nice if we also could have heard what those drumset sounded like
they're electronic... Sound is really the last of your worries seeing as it's computer generated haha
Yeah I had the same question
You can...just youtube each one individually.
Not at important as you think it is.
@@BloodsCaress you'd be surprised how good the top modules are getting
Wow thanks for actually playing them so I could hear how realistic they are. Really appreciate that.
Bruh. He literally said they each have tens of different sound settings. He played each of them without any setting in order to grade them all fairly.

Woo! From a guitarist looking to get a v drum set at some point, this helps to understand what I'm looking for. Sweetwater really is the best!
Sweetwater da goat
don't buy any of these, buy an alesis nitro mesh, I have one it was like 375, pretty cool
@@tea2920pardon me I was interested in checking out the nitro kit and am curious to ask you how your kit is holding up?
My budget is "as cheap as they come"
I've read reviews, the Nitro is too small for an adult. I'd like a nice adult starter set.
Go Titan 50 then

thank you . i love how you spend time and brake down each kit
So then with electronic drums I could technically connect them to Logic and use logic’s built in drum library’s, or 3rd party plugins?

TD27 or Gewa g9
