John's smile at 3:59 says it all. He will always remain humble when around established legends. Clapton's chops are still on point at 70 years old, my God.
What joy to watch this...love Clapton's energy. You know the guitar is good hands when EC smiles at the end of JM's solo. The original and his successor ( you can go on and on how JM has been immature and self-centered, blah, blah,blah...but let him grow up and find his way...you can't deny his talent) What a pleasure! EC is without a doubt, simply the best.
such a long time since I've listened and watched John Mayer, great playing and great stage presence as usual, and he's still getting better and better, just wow
mayer and clapton are both very good at adjusting their styles to better fit the sound of the people they are playing with. there are some guitarists that are purely their own style, and cannot/will not ever change, like chuck berry or john lee hooker. mayer's style changed so much when he joined dead and company, it's impressive he's able to go from this to sounding exactly like jerry garcia.
It's different than garcia in my air. It's obviously played in format garcia built. But I can differentiate between them clearly. Listen to old dead blues specifically pig pen material that Mayer has done with weir and co. It's all mayer
really seeing the Grateful Dead-esque influence on John recently, he's got some new sounds up his sleeve, I get the feeling he's onto something big with his next album..
I was there. Mayer was great. But when Clapton took his solo, the entire place stopped in its tracks. You can say it's due to the effect, but it was more than that. He owned it. It was powerful and moved the thousands of us in the arena that evening. Mayer is great. Clapton is a "god." I was fortunate to be there, despite the Rangers postponing the show due to their game in the Stanley Cup finals, causing me to spend an extra night in the city.
Jo80Ch probably most important pedals here are A tube screamer and probably a klon and reverb pedal. the rest of the Sound is basicly amp, pickups and his fingers :P
Great video. Thanks for sharing. I just came across an up & coming musician similar to this that's worth checking out... Mikey Wax... Search his song "You Lift Me Up". Really good stuff.

mayer adds so much to the music scene. so cool he joined the Dead and still so humble and grounded. just normal but amazing.
2 best guitar players ❤️ 🤲 ❤️ 🤲 ❤️ 🤲❤❤❤❤❤❤❤bless
When you get to make Eric smile like that with your solo, you know you've done good :p

+OldbutStillRockin Mayer is not his succesor, Mayer is only a young guitar player, I don't undestand people imagining........
comomola,you're a closemind dumbass
@@comomola30 just shut up bitch 😝😝
Warchimg Clapton giggle at how awesome John is on the guitar is all the validation this guy needs. I love Clapton and his love for collaboration.
The youngsters always bring out a little of the old fire that's still burning in Clapton. I saw him play with Marcus King and it was awesome.
This was truly amazing! Love seeing John and Eric Jamming.
EC's solo was awesome.
Johns tearing it UP with that NF3! PRS for the win.
such a long time since I've listened and watched John Mayer, great playing and great stage presence as usual, and he's still getting better and better, just wow
eric and joe b....magic!
fucking awesome!!! Both John and Eric absolutely nailed it!!

John Mayer the successor
+Gerard Lecrivain Are you drinking too much? jajahajahajahaj
AWESOME
Slowhand Jr & Slowhand Sr are really awesome !
Clapton, his entire career, is so willing to acknowledge when someone plays absolute filth. He can't contain himself.
Wow! I love Clapton he's Big! But I love John Mayer, too 😍
In love☺
Opening song that night. I was there. Great show.
holy crap this is amazing. can't say much more without blabbing on and on.
really seeing the Grateful Dead-esque influence on John recently, he's got some new sounds up his sleeve, I get the feeling he's onto something big with his next album..
Chazza534 John has really added color to his playing recently. He is a legend.
Chazza534 John Mayer is a fucking pimp.
+musicmaster135 LMAO!
oh my god... wait... oh my eric! eric is god!
John Mayer genial
What a duo!!!!!!!
Is Mayer playing the same PRS that Herring plays?
Yes, NF3. Sounds awesome!
They combine both more than 70 years of playing... Its like messi and ronaldo playing in the same team

😘💜
There isn't affinity between the two. The solos of Mayer are no laughin matter.
😘
Do you have any more from this night?? :O
A man with a Brain addicted to notes , a good notes
Now if we could just get Paul Reed Smith to create a new PRS guitar for Eric ....everything would be "beautiful tonight"
What pedal does John use here?

Clapton is god, there only one. Mayer never will be like Eric Clapton. It's impossible.
Great video. Thanks for sharing. I just came across an up & coming musician similar to this that's worth checking out... Mikey Wax... Search his song "You Lift Me Up". Really good stuff.
No doubt Mayer is a brilliant player. When Clapton performs his solo though, you can hear the difference. Suppose its experience, isnt it?
I will buy all Eric Calpton albums but I never won't buy John Mayer albums. I'll never go any concert John Mayer.
I'm sure Mayer is losing sleep over it....
I,m sure I am losing sleep over it... here in Mediterranean coast in Spain.
Wow - I think John Mayer will stop playing guitar after reading your comment. And by the way: being narrow-minded as you are can be cured
nice more tickets for me!
@@wildgrlie55 I have one testicle higher than the other
This song is too slow!! They miss the feel on it!
Phil Spigner I really dig this tempo :)
