Tua deserves the contract he ends up getting in the end. The market decides your value and with lesser QBs like Goff, Trevor, Herbert, etc getting the contracts they got, Tua deserves to be paid more. Hopefully they take care of Tua before Dallas pays Dak. Each QB signing going forward will only go up in value as it has over the years.
I think what Tua's lacking is the on the field Coach/General. Tua should be checking out of more pass plays to runs. He should also demand better on field personal packages for down and distance. Mike needs an on the field assistant who overrides him at times.
I would be fine with it IF he at least took us to this years Super Bowl, but the odds on that aren't great, but at least they put plenty of talent around him to see, so... SHOW US FIRST
If Tua goes to Management and assures them that he's making the move to on the field General and will help Mike McDaniels manage the game, "Next Level." I think that's what management is not seeing yet.
Would be hard to have a single position cap, however two possible solutions: A single player cap of ~ 20% of overall salary cap, would be $51M right now, or my personal favorite, and maybe they should both be in play, cap only counts against players 2-53, so you get an accounting pass on your highest paid player at the start of the new league year. Would give teams pause when signing/extending players…because they could in theory offset high cap hit years for multiple players, players still get paid but limits top paid player salaries overall. Take it one step further, you could put cap brackets on each teams top 5 players, maybe 20% for 1, 2-3 max is 15%, 4-5 is 10%, everyone else is 9% or below. If you think about the explosion in paydays for WR’s and DT’s you probably need to address more than just the QB position…also a QB cap doesn’t impact teams who have QBs on rookie deals, so this solution puts a harness on every position and creates a naturally moving scale as the salary cap increases. It would then be much easier to negotiate with a Cristian Wilkins, saying hey dude you’re not a top 5 player on this team so we can’t justify that salary…but if you can get it from another team good luck brother!
Tua would still be running the same plays, just changing the timing and windows. Elway use to screw with defensive game plans all the time. One step less, two steps more.... Next thing you know it's a whole new tune and ballgame.
I mean honestly man..TUA does not deserve 50 million he is 1-6.. against the Buffalo bills.. he is 0-1 in the playoffs... And hasn't even won the f****** division yet and only state healthy one year throughout his whole football life including Pop Warner if he even played that..... Give me a f****** break big deal you led the league in passing yards you should lead the league in passing yards with jaylen waddle in the fastest man Tyreek cheetah Hill on the other side I mean come on really...
And if the O line and McD's lack of confidence to trust the run game over Tua having to convert every short yardage situation, this team will sputter to the end again, say McDaniel will get axed and our "$50 million man" will struggle (and I say, fail ) to win the starting job if the new coach brings in a complete NFL offense. He's been too babied by McDaniel who has sacrificed overall offensive growth and success in order to "perfect" Tua and allow/force Tua to try to compensate and carry the entire load for "the run game guru's" lack of intestinal fortitude when it comes to believing in and sticking with his run game, which is amazingly designed and has masterpiece potential written all over it this year. I'm really hoping we re-sign Connor Williams for a return to LG as we, hopefully, make a playoff push down the stretch; that is, assuming FreeMoney Armstead and Isaiah Wynn can get through the first three weeks and on to week four still healthy. That's a HUGE if. The dividends this signing could pay are so clear and obvious and makes so much sense, the chances of Chuckles the Condescender making the move have to be hovering right around zero, I'd imagine.
I think contracts/salaries should be done with "assumption of 18 starts." Backups get a generous jump in pay for each start while starters get docked for each missed start, whether that be for health reasons or performance related.
If McD and Tua are going to ever be legit playoff threat/Super Bowl contenders, we will see it this year. The offense can' t repeat a season of smoking lousy defenses but getting completely shut down by good to great defenses in which they get beaten back into complete surrender. Make Tua Play out this season and the decision to re-sign him to this huge new deal or not will be an easy one. If he repeats last season, the answer is NO, right?

They need to cap ALL positions … AFTER Tua of coarse.

Yup, 👍👍👍
John Elway use to tell Shannon Sharpe, "They're onto us, shorten every route by two steps and change the WINDOWS!"

If Tua would make Elway esk on the fly adjustments like John did he could help McDaniels immensely.and get the bag.

Miami is using this contract negotiations time to make Tua the QB to watch next year. Look how much we are talking about him now.
His contract will set his right now and future picture perfect.. he is just getting started,!!! We will witness great things to come. PhinsUP
Its crazy to me that tua might be getting double what tom brady was and hasnt gotten a single playoff win
I think owners salary should be capped then maybe the average wage earner can attend games
Nice hat!! I come here to listen to the voice of Reason. 😉😉
I have not been critical of Chris Greer, but I do blame him for this fiasco with Tua’s contract negotiation
Look just pay the man,he deserve it,he will leed the phins to super bowl this season 👍👍👍🥳🏈🇧🇸

Good conversation about salaries in the league and especially quarterback salaries.
