Do you know the thermal sensitivity of this IR camera? I have not been able to find it anywhere and it is a fairly important spec. when evaluating an IR camera. The resolution on the display seems to be 0.1C but that is not the same thing. Thermal sensitivity quantifies the minimum temperature difference an infrared camera can detect and it is usually stated in mK (milliKelvin). It is also called the Noise Equivalent Temperature Difference (NETD). A lower number means higher sensitivity.
Nice review. It’s a shame they don’t supply a macro lens, especially since it has a multimeter built into it and so the user may need it to look at circuit boards. Thanks Hugo.
I use this instrument day-by-day and from my work on mainboards I can say that a makro lens is not necessary to find a hotspot. The thermal sensor is very sensitive to temperature changes. So it's possible to find hotspots even if you can't feel it on your fingertips.
Thank you for the thorough review. I got the same thermal camera/DMM from banggood, under the Mustool brand and it's a quite capable little thing, especially considering the price. I have a couple of questions though. What is the max temperature, your unit can measure? Because, even though the specification says that measurement temperature range is: -20℃ ~+550℃, the max temperature I can measure with mine is 400℃... Also, on my unit, when I try to disable the sounds from the settings, it doesn't seems to work and the beeps are still present. How is it on yours? Is this a bug or am I missing something? Cheers
Hi, I was able to disable the sounds, not sure what you're doing wrong. I can share good news also, Tooltop heard me and created an macro lens to this device, I should receive it in a couple of days. Regarding the temperature, the measures I made seemed accurate, but never took it to 550ºC. Not even my soldering station can go so high. Thanks for watching.
Hello, I am thinking in buying the mustool for the price of 150€, the thermal camera is good for electronic repairs, for this price range there's another option?
Nice detailed review & teardown, I just ordered it for about EUR 125 including compatible macro lens from Aliexpress. I was looking for a thermal camera suitable for PCB analysis and I researched many sub EUR 250 thermal cameras over the last few days. My conclusion is that this one seems to be the best value thermal camera with a decent thermal resolution (192 x 192 px) for a hobbyist on a budget in 2024. Thanks 😊
Buonasera, ho acquistato ET13S, come mai mentre sto usando lo strumento ogni tanto l'immagine si blocca? Inoltre si potrebbe avere su lato destro dello schermo la scala dei colori come il modello ET12S? Grazie
Hi, the freeze that you see is the ET13S adjusting to a new range, that happens because is auto mode. For what I know, it's not possible to put that scale on the right side, like the ET12S had, I'd like that too 😁 Thanks for watching.
Hi! Ahaha... no worries, wait a few days, in the beggining of next month we should (I think) have a spend and save promotion. Will help to have a better price also. The prices on aliexpress in this moment are much higher in everything. I have over 90 items on my shopping cart and all of them are with higher prices. Thanks for watching. PS - Don't forget to use after the affiliate link 😁 techcorner.tv/aliexpress
Hi, this is a Tuya 13 in 1 Air Quality Monitor ( geni.us/13in1-airqualitymeter ). I use it to monitor the air quality while resin 3D printing. Thanks for watching.
@@TechCornerTV you should do a tear-down of this - most of these cheap air-quality meters have a single sensor, and generate random values for sensors that it doesn't have! This makes them essentially worthless/dangerous if you're concerned about your health.
29:00 You're an electronics engineer. Don't buy a new hot air station. Repair or modify the station you have, to make it do what you want it to do. As electronic engineers, electrons (and holes), are our bitch. WE tell them what we want them to do. You should do the same with your ''rogue'' hot air station. The process would make a great video too. 😊
Agreed. There are actually 2 ways to calibrate the hot air temp for this particular rework/soldering station. If you take it apart there’s quite a few potentiometers inside that can be used to calibrate all its functions such as the hot air/soldering temp reading and things like the voltmeter read out. There’s a few videos on TH-cam showing which pot to turn. I’m not sure 100% sure of the second method but if you hold down both temp up and down buttons for a few seconds, it enters calibration mode. You will however need to find something that can heat up to exactly 230c if you choose to do this method. I’m not sure why it has to be exactly 230 though, but apparently it states this in the manual. Also I’m with you on this making a good video too.
Hi, you're so right... the problem is not the equipment to fix, is really the time... but to be honest, for what I do, even with a 50º overshoot it will not be such an issue. It will be a nice to have, maybe a manufacturer read this and send one to test 😁 Thanks for watching.
Hi, I noticed, I recorded today the testing with the macro lens, only missing some shots and editing. Will be online probably this Tuesday. Thank you for watching!
Hi, no worries and thank you for comment. If you're interested on this, see my last video with the macro lens, they heard my suggestion and created one, it is really better with macro lens and the price is not high. Thanks for watching.
@@TechCornerTV I got one. It was £148.30 including tax and shipping. Brilliant device. Thank you so much. No measure of current though. It is a bit small for that. For the money it is amazing. 2 days since this review video was posted and the current price of the ET13s that's listed on Aliexpress is €177!!! Hell, the ET12s is currently €157. I'll pass.
Hi, not that I was not believing in you, but I went to verify 😁 and you're right... crazy! The ET12S was around 70 to 90€... don't know what happened. Thanks for watching.
Se quemó un LED verde del power no me deja usar el táctil de la pantalla para entrar en los menú. Se me complica reemplazar ese LED le puedo colocar una resistencia?

@@romulodecastrodasilva5863 Yes, that too. But you can't do omelets without eggs, if you use a far more expensive thermal sensor/technology, the device will be more expensive.

noticed on your video tooltop ET1 3S There was a subtle beep on diode mode. Please can you check again and let us know. Thanks
Hi, I don't know if I understood correctly, are you asking if it beeps when measuring a diode? It doesn't. Beeps on continuity. Thanks for watching.
It beeps very briefly on first connect, than stops until the next reconnection.

The Siglent accuracy is impressive, showing 2 decimals for Type K temperature reading. That's about 390 nanovolts per unit.
