  • Hackster's Alex Glow unboxes and solders Arduino's new Make Your UNO Kit - with "all you need to learn how to solder by building your own Arduino UNO and wave synthesizer shield." The beginner-friendly kit includes PCBs for soldering practice and basic circuit logic, plus a dedicated tutorial website with 3D soldering guides.
Part 1 covers the unboxing, kit overview, and soldering the demo circuit and main Arduino board. Part 2 will cover the programming and synth shield!

Thank you for taking the time to make this! It always makes me feel really good to know when I’m buying a product that there is a healthy amount of community and educational material around it. Thank you again!

I got one of these. Planning to do it tomorrow. It's my first time soldering, and your video put me at ease about it. I feel a lot more confident going into this, thank you.

I’ve asked for one for Christmas. My electronic and programming skills are intermediate, but I couldn’t pass on the chance to build my own Arduino. Thank you for the demo. It can’t wait to build mine.

I like to listen to "And we Run" from Within Temptation. That song makes me feel badass, even going to the bathroom. Great video on the kit. I am going to purchase uno for when my son is old enough.

Legs about to get spicy @31:44. I got 30min into the video before I realized how far you were going in the video while I clicked feverishly. So fun trying to stay in Software mind only to see boards and terminals and want to make the HW more effective and efficient before getting into coding for things.. Seems like there's something somewhere always on the verge of achievements that would be fun to module into a cheap and easy to fix testing environment.

Nice project - But after the soldering a pretty bad documentation, any explanation of the circuit or the sketch ideas nope
I thought this is for beginners? Which is not useable (for beginners ) cause the debugging of an arduino solder problem - good luck ...
Also with the test sketch and the mozzi - bad commenting practice for the first one IMHO
But the 3d model of the kit is A, also the artistic design of the boards is really nice.

Ok is it really worth 40 bucks and shipping. Or is it a toy kit and you will never use it again. Money is tight right now so yes I am being cautious

It depends on what you're after! If you want a super high-quality synth for a low price, maybe not this one. But if you'd like to practice assembling electronics and have a cool platform to learn about different methods of playing with sound on the Arduino, or give it as an exciting incentive to someone who wants to learn soldering, it's pretty awesome.
