That's true to a point, but not everyone who rides a bike is a cyclist, in the same way that not everyone who drives a car is a motorist. I think that to be a cyclist you have to enjoy riding your bike and be passionate about it; the same applies for motorists - there has to be an element of skill involved and pride in what you do, that's what elevates a bike-rider to a cyclist and a car-driver to a motorist.
Maybe I'm just waffling; tell me to shut up!

I took a day long mountain bike course one day and our coach / instructor said: if you don't get off your bike , it's not an adventure. (in other words....get off and push!). So don't worry about how you get up the hill. Great on you guys! Inspiring. Decades ago I was drinking and smoking myself to death and then I saw a fat guy just trying to jog around the block. It is on that day that I decided to stop killing myself and at least try to get around the block. It's all about getting out. It's all about one block at a time, one ride at a time. Right on guys! You're great. Life inspiring.

Fair play. You are right that it should just be about getting out there and enjoying trail ahead not how you look. So fair play for just enjoying riding bikes and inspiring others to do the same.

I can’t even begin to say how much I love this. I am a fitness coach for 21 years and I have always preached “It doesn’t matter what you look like, just move that beautiful body of yours and DO WHAT YOU WANT!”
I lead a weekly women’s group ride in Fort McMurray called ‘Rip ‘n Sip’ and I encourage all ladies, no matter what size or level of rider you are, to come out and play bikes. We ride as a pack. No one is ever left behind. Ever! Then we all go have beers and food together at a local pub. It’s freakin wonderful.
We only get one shot at this life. Live it the way you want. Do more of what makes you happy. Screw what anyone else thinks.

Way to go ladies !! You really are inspiring. Im a very stocky built 58 year old that rides 300 miles a month . I've always been large and tried to starve myself and exercise myself to death most of my adult life. I've discovered cycling and it no longer feels like a chore to exercise...it feels like joy. There's nothing more beautiful than a person who loves who they are , does what they love and smiles big while doing it . I could see the true joy on your faces while riding through the ocean. To me that is real beauty.

Now at 221# but the loss came from changes in appetite due to Covid-19 ( a blessing in disguise for me ) and retirement. Keep up the great attitudes! If you want to lose weight it is 90% how you eat. I was worried how I'd look being big on a bike or if the bike could support the weight. Biking was definitely a catalyst for me losing more of the weight. At that point I already had done much of the work with intermittent fasting and lower carb. Biking made exercise more fun and a habit that made me not feel like I was working out, but doing something enjoyable. I'm glad they didn't let their weight stop them from enjoying the sport like it did for me.

Absolutely awesome. Loved you, loved the video, loved everything. I’m a big fan of Fat Lad (and Lass) At The Back here in the UK who not only make fantastic cyclewear for all sizes of people (because all sizes of people cycle) but also put a lot back into the community to try and break up the negatives you touch on throughout the video. I’m a regular in the FLAB Facebook community group where they have 8000 cyclists of all sizes who can and do post pics without fear of negative comments. It’s an amazing community. I’ve shared this video on there and hope every single member watches it! Be great if you could have a look in sometime, though now you’re a list celebs, you might not have time 😂 and massive respect to Shimano for acknowledging that their customer base is diverse but that’s not as well represented as it could be.

This is amazing! Thank you Kailey Kornhauser, Marley Blonsky, and Shimano for getting this message out there! All bodies are good bodies. All bodies deserve respect. And all bodies deserve equal access to health, movement, and fun! These two women are incredible powerhouses and such beautiful, compassionate humans! The cycling industry and world are long overdue in their need for diversity and inclusion. THANK YOU!

Your faces when you reach the coast! 😊
I don’t get the whole ‘tribalism’ with cycling..🤔
Somebody asks what kind of cyclist I am.....
I say “one that turns the pedals”.
    Does it matter...my age.....my body.....my bike.....how fast (slow) I ride.....how far I go???
I just want to be out there ‘flying’ on my bicycle, listening to the birds, watching the sky change, breathing in the changing seasons, soaking up the scenery.....
If you girls lived near me I’d so love to share those experiences with you. 👍👍👍🚴‍♀️🚴‍♀️

I think you both are so amazing. Best quote, " To be a cyclist, you just have to be a person riding a bike". I'm almost 60 yrs. old and also a heavy rider. I don't care what others have to say. 🤗I just enjoy my ride.🚲

Particularly the last 12 months a lot of prominent brands have done a lot of banner waving about diversity and inclusion with very little action.
Shimano on the other hand quietly get on and do it. 👍👍👍👍

Thank you for being willing to make yourselves vulnerable as spokespeople. None of us like talking about our anguish on camera. I assure you that placing names and faces for the world to associate with is working and we support you (with enthusiastic expletives🤘🏽🤩) on your ride to leave the world better than you found it!

Thank you, this is an important video. Too many people think they can't cycle, because they aren't thin, don't want wear spandex, be hunched over on a racer, and spend as much for a bike as an old car.
I am 58, and fat. Cycled 4,000km last year, did three centuries last year. Planned to cycle 100 km in a day this week, but the Swedish spring weather had other plans, snow and 45 km/hr winds.

Actually we can control what we eat, we just can’t control who processes it, packages it and sells it to a market for us to choose from.
This video is super empowering, I understand where they’re coming from and how challenging it is to be human,
There’s no right or wrong way to life, it’s just about the intention.
Your body isn’t broken, you are where you are!
    Thank you!

Big point. Yes, fat folks may be the ones making the final decision on what goes into their body, but access to good food is largely out of people's control, esp when socio-economic factors are considered.
