I remember as a kid, growing up in the 70s in Los Angeles, these used to play on a local independent station (I think it was 52) in the afternoon, after school. These were a lot of fun ❤️❤️ many, many thanks.
That was certainly a mix, compared to some of the similar "less show 'em who we got" feature films such as PARAMOUNT ON PARADE. Great to see Zeppo Marx and Richard Cromwell (once his career faded, he became a fine ceramicist in the L.A. area). I'd heard of Shipwreck Kelly, so it was pretty cool to see him in action on the flagpole. But whose bright idea was it to have Tallulah sing?!? Probably to keep her from ad libbing ;-) Claudette Colbert and Norman Foster, her husband at the time, had to keep their marriage secret from her mother, to the point that they kept separate residences. They finally divorced after three years. Foster became a director once his acting career faded and directed many of the Charlie Chan and Mr. Moto feature films, along with a lot of television work.
20:20 - Richard Arlen's wife brings out the new baby: "Well, here IT is!" What is that smirk she gives him before she smiles? And then instead of sitting with his wife and newborn, Arlen leaves to take a swim with the dog... LOL. Were relations between Mr. and Mrs. Arlen "perfectly happy" at this time?
