I feel it's related. I woudn't have had this issue if I was playing an all melee army or short range shooting army. People don't enjoy getting shot from long range with nothing they can do about it so in general they have a grudge for Tau from it. That was the point, were these issues because of the type of army I brought being all long range shooting or is it a problem with the game it's self to allow it.
This is on you. You brought a skew list, and when you bring a skew list sometimes things go all your way and sometimes they go badly. There -should- be line of sight blocking things. You should have cheap units to screen your tanks as the counter play to turn 1 charges instead of hoping you can blast them turn 1. Tau have those options. Kroot, or even just striker/breacher teams if you want to avoid kroot for aesthetic reasons. Cause yes, most times most boards will have enough places to hide so you can't just alpha strike the enemy army in their deployment zone. What everything counts should be hammed out ahead of time. (That bit is also on your opponent, and really the tournament organizers)
Oh yeah, like I expected to have issues with the game like being unable to get points for doing actions, like with my lack of characters that can do anything and if someone gets take it down its easy for them to get points on me. But like I said I have brought very similar armies with other factions and playing as Tau was the first time these issues come up.
The terrain issues in game 1 & 3 are on the TO imho. The game needs more ruins to avoid alpha strikes, there was too much clear line of sight from one deployment zone to the other. If the TO did not have enough ruins they he could have put in the player pack and announced at the start of the event that the small buildings were going to count as ruins for this event. Shame to hear this will be the last Tau video. I would of liked to see the stormsuge swapped for other units, eg. to keep your theme more piranhas, and devilfish with breachers (to help your anti infantry). Maybe 1-2 ion cannons swapped for railguns to help anti tank. PS. Ethereal can't observe (even with a marker drone). Would be good to use the enhancement to give 2 units near the character scout to double down on the fast aggressive style.
Oh yeah like I said I messed up in not having a talk first over what terrain was doing what as it was left to the players to decide. I will have more tau videos out in future most likley, I was saying I probably won't be using this specific list again now that I've seen what it can do. But what makes an etheral unable to observe? I'm having a read through and I can't see that mentioned anywhere.
@@RANDOM_DUD-qj3jd Ah you are right it doesn't. Yet it can take the marker drone which has the explanation "The bearer’s unit has the MARKERLIGHT keyword and can act as an Observer unit for another unit even if it Advanced this turn." So yeah this is a big what the heck is going on here.
Oh im surprised the chaos knight player said they were ruins when they clearly aren’t. And the only one benefiting from them being ruin is him, as he have a stratagem that makes him ignore em and walk true em. Tbh, shitty player who knew exactly what he did when he claimed em as ruins 😂
I listened for roughly 10 minutes, so far 90% of this is on you. Talk to your opponent before the game starts, debate and iron everything out, stop taking things for granted. 40k has been about haggling for over 20 years now, don't roll a single dice before before EVERYTHING on the table is crystal clear. 40k is NOT nor ever will be a game like chess where you can set things up silently and start playing against your opponent in a vacuum, in 40k the social aspect and sportsmanship directly contributes to the match results on a 1:1 ratio. There's more: If you don't like excessive terrain, then involve yourself in your local tournament scene and get players together to influence LGS and TO's to adopt a different terrain layout/format package from the bigger tournament scenes. Later on you say "I should have talked to my opponent." This video could have been 10 seconds long, that's all that needed to be said, everything else is just whining and assumptions. Be the guy that actively fixes things proactively, don't just sit around and get ran over only to grump about it later.
In this video: Complaining about tournament participants. Not in this video: Issues of tau tanks at a tournament.

surely bad tournaments as well - shouldn't the tournament staff decide when two players dispute something on the board rules wise?
Well, tbh the chaos knight player was kinda shitty.
TO should have had a paper or something clarifying what each piece of terrain is. Players shouldn’t decide rules at a tournament.
Not sure if it's been mentioned but ethereals cannot guide on Thier own
there definitely needs to be LoS blocking terrain for tournaments to be fair to all armies

Sad to see 40k come down to 1 turn battles

@@tankhunterminatures I don't think the ethereal has the "For the Greater Good" ability which is the faction ability that allows it to observe.

@@RANDOM_DUD-qj3jdI think it’s a bit different since the codex. Now they just need the army faction “Tau Empire”
Some people just aren't great fun to play against. :)

Hey, thanks for the view :) means a lot to me you watched that much it really helps the channel.
Players changing core rules is cheating, specially when they want an advantage. Tau is a high skill army, and it takes high skill to beat it.
LOL
TAU? THESE ARE RUINS!!!
