For that, he wanted the signature of Ramanujacharya (the then leader of Sri Vaishnavas) in a document that declared Shiva was supreme God. If he failed to sign the document, then he would invite trouble from the ruler (including threat to his life).* *Due to this, Ramanujacharya had to leave Srirangam and move to Karnataka for around 32 years, until the king died. Meanwhile, His disciple Koorattazhwan went in the disguise of Ramanujacharya to the king’s court and openly refused to sign the document. When insisted, he rewrote the wordings on the document. The document originally had the words “shivaat parataram naasti”, and Koorattazhwan added the words “drONamasti tataH param” and signed the document. The furious king ordered the eyes of Koorattazhwan to be removed! When an aged Periya Nambigal (an Acharya to Ramanuja himself) came to support Koorattazhwan, his eyes were also ordered to be removed! Later, someday, when Koorattazhwan was entering the Srirangam temple, the king’s guards stopped him just because he was a Sri Vaishnava and a follower of Ramanujacharya.* *Ramanujacharya and his disciples leaving on an exile to a different state fearing danger to their lives, stalwarts like Koorattazhwan and Periya Nambigal losing their eyesight, Sri Vaishnavas being denied from entering temples etc......* *People might be deny this event due to hinduism but religious persecutions have been happened in Tamil Nadu (Chola Nadu) even during Mauryan times . During the time of Kuluthonga Chola’s rule, Shaivism and Vaishnavism were the two most popular religions in Chozha Nadu . Krimikantha Chola was being as a Shivite, he has been persecuted and killed many of Vaishnava Brahmins & Vaishnava scholars in Chozha Nadu.....* *But the thing is, Kamal Hassan is being as a Vaishnav Brahmin. He want to get a good name from his Vaishnava community by acting in this movie. But at same time in Tamil Nadu, We Thamizh people won't accept these things which they created hatred against Mighty Tamizh God Shiva...*
