Great informative vid, as always. You would think the manufacture would make the thermostat easily replaceable. My dad had a really old fridge he inherited from his dad made by frigidaire in the 1940s, he said it had been in the family for almost 80 years, replacing bulbs or the thermostat were really quick and easy jobs, two screw and the job was done. Guess they don't build things to be repaired anymore. It's really good that you show how things can be fixed rather than just buying a new unit when a $5 piece of it goes wrong.
    Thanks for sharing.

If I were wealthy and dishonest I’d buy a new one and send high voltage high current through that device send it back under warranty after a month and see if I got a whole new fridge. I don’t see anyone changing it properly.

@@BrekMartin It works so the repair is good in my books and to me there is something better about things you have repaired over the original unit.
I think that it would be interesting to watch 40kV go directly into the units peltier plates and circuit board. Maybe the peltier plates would achieve -273 Kelvin within second on the cooling side an turn the hot side into molten lava. All the caps exploding and the board looking like a piece of burnt toast. 🤣 I generally enjoy repair videos over destructive ones but I'm partial to shango066 TH-cam end of life vids (EOL) when a TV becomes beyond economical repair.

@@isoguy. no, I mean unplugging the thermistor, and punishing it just short of burning the insulation of its leads, so it still looks like a normal warranty repair… to see how they handle the exact same repair.

"Can't say it wasn't a pain" -- going for an understatement, I see!
A clever bodge, nonetheless, despite apparently everything in the design of that unit being anti-repair.
Hope it ends up continuing to work for ya for quite some time!

@@EilonwyWanderer admittedly not my idea, but I didn’t see it done for this model elsewhere. I failed to point out properly that the original part is buried underneath the cool box, and would require complete disassembly, and a bigger mess. This one wasn’t for the people who’d typically watch my vids… it will be a long term winner.

@@BrekMartin well it was a fun watch regardless, and with luck anyone in the future who needs to do similar repairs will find it helpful!
