To be fair i think Pig missed the point of the war never changes fallout quote, its more about how war is still the same no matter how much military technology evolves, weapons and tactics may evolve but war as a concept never changes

and that concept would be two or more groups of humans killing each other because they disagree.

That was definitely the original point of the Fallout quote, but LazerPig is right that-as with all proverbs short enough to be memorably used as a quip-people blithely quote it as literal gospel truth and don’t bother with all that icky context that makes real wisdom complicated. It’s that abuse and overuse of the quote he’s arguing against, not its mere existence.

You should look at Drachinifel's Development History of French Pre-Dreadnoughts. You said the French ships were bad, wait until you see a deep dive into that mess.

Just as a side note, the French ship pig shows is the Massenna(sp) one of four or five ships often referred to as the fleet of samples. They were all supposed to be of the same ‘class’ but the French didn’t set a plan for any of them letting each shipyard make up their own designs only setting them with specifications(speed, armor, weapons load out). This meant none of the ships looked alike and none of them ended up the same size, speed or turning circle making a squadron of ships that can’t even sail together.

Fun fact You can visit another ORP Destroyer made in 1937 still afloat, the Błyskawica, at port in Gdynia

Hood as I recall was basically an improvement on the Renown class, essentially taking what worked about the design and improving on it.

This may not be a convincing argument but as World of Warships battleship player I tell you this:
Fighting a maneuvering destroyer whose captain is capable of thinking and breathing at the same time *IS A FUCKING NIGHTMARE* for a battleship. Unless said destroyer is stupid and sails too close - you're pretty much powerless and any shots with battleship's main guns are a waste of ammo. You won't hit the target even in calm seas and clear weather. Much less if the weather is actually bad and night is closing in.
The captain of ORP Piorun (and yes, it means "thunderbolt") was not a crazy bastard. He was simply aware what such a tiny destroyer is really capable of. He knew he could show The Bismarck the ultimate FUCK YOU and get away with it. And so he did. And there was nothing Bismack's crew could do about it.
Yes, there was little Piorun could do to Bismarck in terms of actual damage as Bismarck was fucking tough as all hell. But the crew needs sleep. And there's a lot one tiny destroyer can do to prevent the crew of a battleship from getting any sleep. As shown here.
Also yes, when Russia attacks *GIVE US THE POLES WEAPONS AND AMMO AND STAY BACK.* Because you don't know Russsia and you don't know how the Russians fight and think. We do. Russia have been trying to wipe us the Poles out basically since the beginning of their country. And guess what. *WE ARE STILL HERE!*
Also all the way back in communist years before Martial Law there was a talk in Poland whether the Soviets and the Germans (eastern ones, those under communist rule) will invade to help the communist government in Poland. And one of stand up comediand Jan Pietrzak had a laugh back then. It went like this:
The question: If the Soviets and the Germans invede, who should we fight first?
    The answer: Fight Germans first.
    Another question: WHY?
Answer: Because duty first, *PLEASURE LATER.*

Honestly i think it might be more that the fundamentals of a war dont change ni matter how advanced or primitive the tech you use to fight it is. Youre still sending people to their deaths for other people's ambitions and that fundamental concept has not really changed but thats just my opinion
