Appreciate the testing :) Also worth noting that they can still cause trouble if sprayed on elsewhere with the pod protected, but then you sweat and the sweat lets the lotion/aerosol migrate. I've had pods not fail (alarm) but start leaking insulin from that. Only way I noticed was that I couldn't get my bg to drop . Eventually changed pods and realized what I'd done. Now I even stay upwind of others spraying themselves.

She already has gone on her big trip for the Summer a Working trip to Branson Missouri with her daughter for some "Mommy and Me" time. Bren used a lotion, and the kiddo used an areosol. i am definitely going to share the results of this video with her.
Thank you for bringing this to the attention of your followers. Do you know if tests like this have been performed on the Dexcom G6/G7 and Libre Freestyle CGMs? I never thought about this being a concern, but I know first-hand that different plastics can be damaged by chemicals. I had to replace 2 sunroof panels in my car years ago when the plastic panels cracked like what you showed here.

Thanks for the video! Off topic but I was just reading about the upcoming iPhone app. They say we will have to start all over with the algorithm! I suppose it’s the same if you ever lose your PDM or change devices. This sounds ridiculous. You’d think they’d be able to have your algorithm in the cloud or something so that you can pick up where you left off when changing devices! I guess I’m in for another 2 weeks of horrible blood sugars when I switch to the iPhone app :(
Yes, it's true. Restarts also occur if you damage, then replace your existing pdm or phone with an identical brand and model. I agree that it should transfer from the cloud. In fact, the info already lives in the cloud via the Gluko app. I'll definitely pass on the info when I finally meet the CEO.
@@typ3me thanks for the reply and info! One other thing that really bugs me, because of how I sleep the pod loses contact with my sensor quite a bit at night. Not sure if anyone else has this issue but then it goes into limited mode and my blood sugar goes high You’d think that if the pod can’t see the sensor, it could get the info from the Dexcom cloud or shared from the Dexcom app if they are on the same device. My phone never loses contact with the sensor (I’m guessing this is because the phone has a much better Bluetooth receiver than the pods), so the number is there and available. But the stupid pdm can’t see it. Do you know if it can work that way using an android phone that has both apps on it where they share the number if the pod can’t see the sensor directly? This would also help make it okay to not have both devices on the same side of the body, which very much limits placement options! Thanks again your help has been very valuable!
I currently have the Samsung Galaxy s21. It runs both Dexcom and Omnipod apps. I place the omnipod on my triceps and my Dexcom on my belly. With this setup, I only encountered a Dexcom sensor loss while I slept due to compression lows. I have yet to encounter a pod loss, causing it to go into limited mode.
While in automated mode, the Omnipod, 5 will learn to adjust your basil to a preferred number, based off of your previous Omnipod session. So every time you change to a new Omnipod 5, if you’re basil is not correct it will continue to adjust until you are within an appropriate basil range for you specifically. As your body changes, the Omnipod will continue to learn and adjust to your body so that you are hitting your time and range goals.
So-- if you leave your pod in direct sunlight at 100+ degrees for two hours, you are going to deactivate the insulin anyway. The heat will force a pod change either way.
Actually, as a desert dweller I have personally left my insulin in an MDI pen in a car hot enough to bake cookies. The insulin reached Temps over 100. I still used it and didn't even see a difference. Sounds crazy but it's true.

Good point. Aerosol chemicals impregnated into the adhesive due to swaet migration could definitely cause issues. Thanks for your take.

If your basal rates are not set accurately will Omnipod 5 automatically setup correct basal ?
