In court (years ago) as a witness, I saw another (stupidly abusive) witness arrested on a judge's order and taken to a cell.

Netflix isn't a live broadcast. You are paying to legally watch a broadcast and not just with the BBC

I got fined £100 about 20 years ago. Still haven't paid, still haven't got a license 🖕to them.

The letters are on a loop. In the 6yrs that I've been licence free I must have gone through that same loop about 9 times now.
Ditto. Pasted together they make a handy door stop. Shredded they provide a good source of bedding for hamsters. Ultimately a fortune can be saved on loo paper in "difficult times".

I got one today to my home address. To the proprietor or manager it said. Apparently I’m a businessman now and my company needs a tv licence 😂😂😂😂

Capita have been opening multiple investigations into my property every year since 1981. I’ve saved about £7,000 (in today’s money) by not paying the propaganda tax.
I paid £thousands over the decades but NEVER again.

Not only is this harassment but one of fraudulent gains. Gaining money with menace and threats causing harassment alarm and distress. If you have informed them that you not need or require their services and no contracts signed or agreed, then these fraudulent parasites are committing a criminal offence...

Regarding this particular letter, I thought CJ may have picked up on the fact that the words, "Official notice: Investigation opened" appear in bold, red type in a window in the envelope, so all our postmen know about it too. I received one of these yesterday and mentioned it in the comments on CJ's earlier video today. This is a new low for Capita and we already know what a vile organisation it is.
I wouldn't worry too much about an investigation changing from being at the final stages to being opened. This is just the usual Capita sloppiness (another of their endearing traits) and there is nothing we can do about that.

Courts are Government departments. It wouldn't matter if you are in the right or not. You WILL be found to be in the wrong.
It would take a rich person to make a stand and go in all guns blazing with legal experts outta the arse. And NO rich person is going to do that for two simple reasons.
1) A rich person would have a TVL. £169 means nothing to them. It's about the same as they spend in car insurance and fuel for their expensive cars for an hour.
2) Rich people don't rattle the cages of Government agencies that could make their lives very difficult. They keep their heads down.
Trust me taking the BBC to court will fail. It's state propaganda so there's no way they would let you win the case. Even if you are in the right.

To be fair, it was a matter entirely separate from TV Licensing. But I once had the immense pleasure - in court as a witness - of hearing a judge ask a self-entitled and pompous CEO of a business that was being sued, "Excuse me sir - but who the hell do you think you are? Sit down and shut up! Or would you rather sit in a cell?"

Those, 'public information films', regarding the requirement to have a TV licence based on the premise that it was only a matter of time before their TV detector vans would, 'detect', someone's unlicensed TV being on in their front room, (even down to not only what channel was being watched, but also what programme they were watching), was a complete fabrication, no different to these letters being sent that threaten a long line of, 'investigations', that amount to nothing. All fearmongering scare tactics to try and coerce people into paying up for something that, in most cases, they don't need to.
We get one a month, it’s harassment and demanding money with menaces ! Got a pile of them dating back to 2020 even though they acknowledged cancellation and gave us a refund 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️

It's illegal to watch live TV. It's illegal to enter this country without a passport. Illegal means nothing to me these days. I break the law dozens of times a week.
Thirty five years they have threatened to come round to my business address, and for thirty five years they have not come round. Harassment.
If I get letters addressed to “the legal occupier” it’s obvious who the sender is and I don’t even bother to open them and they go straight into the bin.
Investigate all you want waste that tax money letters go straight in the bin unopened.

Many years ago they did come round, 2 of them. I was doing some plumbing at the time I answered the door. I passed one of them a piece of old copper pipe, said 'hold that a minute mate' and closed the door. No idea how long they stayed.

I think everyone who gets a letter should mark it return to sender , let them dispose of the letters.
I started doing that a few months back, great satisfaction. The letters seemed to stop for a couple of months….but started again 😂
Waste of time, the PO/TVL have an arrangement not to return. Best to forward to your MP to ask why they grant the BBC a legal exemption to send threatening letters.
I don't how the tv license gets away with the snotty letters and knocking on doors. It's called cold calling coming to House at stupid times and definitely bullying with letters

We all get them mate. Just ignore.
The worst harassment I got from them was years back when I HAD a licence but they kept saying I hadn't. I'd call and explain I had one, they'd agree...but still the threats kept coming. The same happened to a neighbour.

wont get anywhere.... there is an exemption in law that permits the BBC to contact you. You'll notice the letters never quite cross the mark of harassment since they dont use the name in the address.
I really don't understand how they just get away with it and continue to get away with it ? It is definitely harassment especially the one that says they will come around any time day or night that is quite threatening . Why are there no politicians willing to pick this up ?
The police will back them. I have written evidence from Warwickshire police.

I’ve kept all my letters, I expect one day a legal company will start a class action against them, usual thing, pay your hundred quid and be included in the compensation. We’ll see but it IS harassment.

I do and i put codes on for them such as P155 044 and A55 015 or draw laughing emojis

I have had hundreds of these letters, and they all finnish up filed in the shredder, the only place for them,, just do not speak to them or correspond with them it is pointless. In almost every letter they threaten criminal action, yet they do nothing, why? simply because they have no information. These are actually stalking by correspondence, of which Alex Belfield is serving a five year sentence in prison. So this Scott Robson, should face the same.
I haven't had any letters from them in 6 months and I'm feeling left out. Please open another investigation into my address, TVL, I used to enjoy chucking those letters straight in the bin.

I've recently stopped the direct debit to them & have just had a letter saying there has been a problem with the direct debit. The money I save will tax my motorbike & buy me a lot of petrol, ha ha. Great video, keep up the good work, thanks.
I had one a few days ago, and I can't recall ever receiving one like it before. Starts off by saying Dear legal occupier, We are giving you a 10 Day window to get correctly licensed. Then it goes on with a load of bollox, finishes off by saying " You only have until the 19 of June to act before this window closes" From the same Scot Robson.🤣😂

I file my monthly letters into the recycle bin often without opening, sometimes they say 'will you be in on ....date' what if I am or not none of their business.

Easy answer.. The BBC has used £169million chasing TV licence dodgers in what has been branded a "blatant waste of money". The BBC are paying logistics company Whistl and Royal Mail £33.8million a year for five years to deliver letters to those suspected of not paying.
Its actually been budgeted for, if you look at the Capita contract it says they have budgeted for these letters and the only caveat is that they have to allow for rising postal charges

Jon, I personally registered a no licence needed form, and I have sn an email from them stating thank you for letting us know that you don't need a license. No sooner had I received that email from them, and letters started coming through the door saying something has changed at this address. There is no licence at this address. You are now under investigation.... The no licence needed form is useless. In my opinion, these are wicked criminal people
I've not had anything from them since I did the no licence declaration. I put my name down as "legal occupier" and when they asked for an email address... they show an example underneath(because we don't know what an email address look like!😂) I used the one that was suggested. 😂😂😂 I didn't think it would work but it sure did!! 😂😂😂 was the highlight of my day I tell you 😂😂😂 that was 18mnths ago now and not had anything since. 😂😂😂😂 and up to that point I was having them every week near enough 😂😂😂

I'm very disappointed with TV licensing, they asked me if I would be at home on a specific date, and the bustards never turned up.
I used to get those letters regularly. I just ignored them. Was never even remotely worried about them.

Because the government takes a partial amount from the licence fee as a tax, which is why they want the licence fee to be paid through council tax. Its entertainment tax that they were never open about, they would tax you for the air you breathe if they could find a way to do it.
Because they know almost no one would actually pay if it was not backed up by threats.
They could and do you remember some years ago TV's started to have card slots on them? The BBC campaigned to stop this as it would introduce encryption/pay TV which they dont want.
What's next... Capita FLY 'TV DETECTOR DRONES' to look in peoples windows to 'Catch them watching live TV'? (especially for those living in flats... 🤬🤬🤬
Send them a letter saying your gonna start an investigation of them harassing you unless they pay you what you want . They will probably report you to the police for harassment bless their cotton socks

Never had a visit and if they do visit the door bell camera ensures that we never open the door to anyone that we are not expecting. A knock on the front does not equal "you must open it". F*** 'em !

I had a guy turn up about 10yrs ago and I told him I didn't have a tv. He asked if he could come in and check, I just said no. As I was closing the door he started shouting about getting a warrant, which seemed to be an effort to embarrass me in front of my neighbours. Nasty little man 😂

Why aren't the police investigating me for tooling up to defend myself against any heavies sent to follow up the constant threats against me for when I threaten said heavies with bodily harm if they do not leave me alone. I am reduced to having to prepare for this instance due to the legal system allowing an organisation to do what an ordinary citizen would be imprisoned for

Hi Jon, after checking my pile of TVL letters, I’ve noticed that they are now doubling up with the same layout and wording just different dates.
So that means probably there’s 10-15 different templates on their system. The letters are meaningless if the goons never turn up. Not worth the paper it’s written on.
I think they get away with it not being harassment because they address the letters to the occupier, that way it's not aimed at anyone in particular, if they did keep sending those letters addressing the actual person, it very much could be seen as harassment and intimidation.
It's all a game and they figured the rules and legalities out long ago.

I filled in their declaration of not needing any sh>t from them, and today I received a cheque for 13 squids from TV Licensing and it was addressed to me by name, I have no idea why they decided to be so nice to me, I'm scared!

You were probably due a refund but perhaps they are also happy that they can now link your name to your address on their database. Declaring no licence needed is a mistake and makes a visit more likely than if you don't.

They seem like far too good a quality of paper - quite heavy, with a nice surface finish, and fold very sharply - to waste on bum-wiping, regardless of whether or not you suffer from papercuts on the rear end.
I thought I might save them up to paper my toilet with them, I bet they'd last a good long time on the walls in there!

I think the tv licensing people must be spamming the ever loving crap out of some unoccupied properties and having a big stack of papers under the post box in a house seems to me to be a fire hazard.

At the rate the fools are going the TV licence fee will only just about cover the postage for all the letters they send to people who couldnt care less.

If they dont know your name, does that mean they can't take you to court if they dont know who lives at that particular address?
If they are in the 'final stages' of their investigation can you not demand a copy of their 'investigation' so you can submit it to your lawyer so you can defend your position.
Send the letters back without a stamp, the letters soon stop, just make sure it's in a blank envelope, with their address on it.
I've done it for years, including BBC, advertising, etc, they eventually give up.
It must have cost my local TVL office a fortune as me and other members of my family have done just that!

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I wonder how many elderly people get these letters and don't even own a TV but pay for the licence anyway to stop the harassment and threats?!

I ignore their letters. We don't have to respond to them.

I believe someone actually took them to court for harassment because of the letters. They won 4 grand compensation.
false. They are granted legal exemption by the Government.
