Her family is just another 'ethnicity of color' (Not black), that took advantage of the struggles of actual 'Black people' and benefiting off of the progress 'Black people' made. People with melanated skin all stayed in where they were and stood in the shadows and observing the fight we (black folks) were in. They didn't join in, and It wasn't until we won, did they all start flooding the shores of America. Even after arriving upon these American shores, they didn't claim to be 'Black', but rather claimed 'caucasian' or other than black. Fast forward, they started benefitting off of the struggle they took no part in participating.

And his Irish ancestors who lived in Jamaica owned slaves on their plantation. I agree with you just because you have ancestors that came from Jamaica does not make you black. In a restaurant today wearing my anti Democratic t-shirt I kept getting dirty looks from this older couple I stopped at their table and they said how can you vote for Trump when he is going to take away your social security. All I could do was shake my head. I just can't believe this stupidity of some people.but then anyone who votes for a Democrat has to have something wrong with them.
You should have taken that as an invitation - and asked them why they believed that to be true? Because - when someone believe a lie, the most polite, kind and loving you can do with them, is to help them to see the truth. If all they had heard was lies, how would they be able to know the truth - and if you who know the truth do not show them grace by engaging with them, they will continue to believe the lies. It means you need to learn and know what IS true, but, you should learn that regardless.
