I fell into this trap too, even having checked on the Bosch website which led me to believe it is compatible with the guide rail! Thanks for being a path finder doing the swap, I got the saw on sale so I guess it could have been worse.
Thanks for this video and the post in your blog! VERY helpful! I was upset because I couldn't use my GSK 18v-57 with the FSN guides of my other Bosch saws, and then I discovered your blog and now I can use both! Thanks, man!! Regards from Spain!!
@@mrtgsy After ordering I got a cancelation for one of the parts, Bosch NL did not know when available so I canceled the whole order with the plan to check again a few months later. That did not yet happen :-) Thanks for asking
Thanks for this video Matt. I've just got one with the 2 for 1 deal and I'm planning to convert. Am I right in thinking that the only parts I need to get are the G plate and the hinge pin? Also, if I used a bolt and nyloc instead of the pin, do you think that would work well? It may be useful to be able to swap back and forth, depending on the job.
Hi Stephen. Full list of parts is available on the blog article: www.matt-thornton.net/general/converting-a-bosch-gks-18v-57-to-a-gks-18v-57-g/. As for the pin, not sure, possibly; there's not much pivot, so maybe. I must admit I thought it might be useful to swap back and forth, and now can't imagine ever doing it.
Hello Matt, Thanks for the video and the instructions. I’m having the same problem. It’s been a while since you made the video and the required parts now cost over £90!! Which makes me think if it’s worth converting or shall I just buy the American version for $100. The only issue with that version is that the saw is on the other side. What do you think?
Hey mate. If it was me, I wouldn't bother. I'm pleased I did it, but I later managed to get the proper plunge saw on deal. So if you can afford it, I'd keep this one as/is and then try and get the plunge saw.
@@Do9mA_7 Thank you for doing the legwork ahead of me. They did it for the 57, perhaps there's a new plate forthcoming for the 57-2 sometime in the future. Shame on Bosch for not releasing that option immediately, trying to sell saws twice the price.

No worries amigo
Fell into the trap, too - your video helped to understand the difference. Not sure I will try a conversion.
I don’t blame you. Although I do use the saw a lot now… conversion worked really well and it’s easy to grab
Hi Matt. Thanks! I made the same mistake, happy to read I am not the only one :-) Parts are ordered
How did the install go?

Hi, what is total cost for this converting?
Check the blog post in the description for details, but it was around £60 (GBP)
Damn, hammer on the main axis? No circlips?
Nope 👎
@@mrtgsy Lame engineering :/
But tell me that bolt (when you use hammer to extract and put back again), i cannot see it on part list. How can i buy one?
Matt, привет 👋!
Я благодарен тебе! Вот я нашёл, то что искал! Ты крутой 😎
Ну как после апгрейда? Люфта нет?
I've got a damn 57-2
Is the work you did possible?
keeping a record
Model 57-2 is not compatible with part of 57G
I squandered $68 on it :(

Anyone want to sell their non-G base plate after converting? Dropped my saw and bent the plate! Don't need to upgrade mine..... cheers
