I too disagree with not only the negative reviews but the very low (star/points) rating these critics gave. The movie only mildly delved into esoteric realms of metaphysics, existentialism, fatalism, nihilism and monism versus dualism, with the tiniest skoosh theoretical astrophysics and perhaps felt out of touch and unrelatable along those lines. At the center, though, the movie is about human frailties...in efforts to rise in our lives to meet the challenges of Death, Time and Love...which are elemental to human existence, even if they are mental constructs. Each of Howard's friends/partners/colleagues are one facet of the three constructs and we're shown how they truly blend into one another. Time persists an unwinds the best of our intentions. Love aches to gasp the fleeting. And Death marks each moment with a haunting echo of its approaching steps, be they far or near.
He has not had a performance in any of his movies where he deserved to win one. He's an over rated actor who's ego got big and became even more thirsty after Ali. Then he started forcing his son Jayden in movies after The Pursuit Of Happiness.
Great film. For those that thought differently that the trailer was misleading, obviously did not understand the film in its entirety. The critics have failed at their jobs yet once again, never have I listened to critics and for that I was rewarded. Love as if time does not exist and you will not fear death.

Just watching the trailer alone already teared me. When you lose someone dearest to death, you will understand what the main protagonist is going thru. You will search for the meaning and purpose of living. Love, Time and Death truly encapsulate everything about life, about us.
This movie is the perfect example of why you never pay attention to "critics" This movie was f-in great and every single person should watch this. There is a good message for everyone in this movie. And the twist in the ending will hit you right where it hurts too, which made it even better.
Watched it for the first time 2 years ago alone at the theater my father used to take me to, I didn't understand most of the part, though I was going through what Howard was, overall it was so painful to watch how lifeless and resentful he was. Today I watched it for the 2nd time and I really felt the process of his healing and what it's trying to tell, what a beautiful movie, this film is my collateral beauty.

Actually y'all, I just watched 'Birdman' for the first time about a week ago, & it's not only a great film, but Edward Norton has a small but scene-stealing performance in it. If you haven't seen it, it's one of the best films I've seen in the last couple of years. Plus I did a binge-watch of Wes Anderson films, & Ed Norton in a scout's uniform almost makes up for him being a bit MIA in Hollywood lately. I've seen all these Wes Anderson films several times before but they never get old.

I'm excited for the movie, seems rather enthralling, I won't judge until I watch it. But I guarantee that a fair amount of people that are enlightened by the music within the Trailers have only recently been exposed to Thomas J. Bergersen's epic work. It's about time "Remember Me" gained the spotlight, my personal favorite, the only other place I've heard it put into action is in AMVs. But it's ironic since I've been utterly obsessed with this song in particular for years now, so hearing it being used like this made the nostalgia skyrocket. Illusions was an unforgettable album. Hopefully this use of it will assist in those songs getting more recognition, the kind they deserve.
