Think the biggest sleeper is Edey in Memphis Idk why people sweep under the rug how many solid bigs are developed in that system. Both Gasol’s, Randolph, JJJ, Santi Aldama, B. Clarke.

JJJ is overrated. Not a winner.
Gasol got good foot speed, could stretch the floor with a great mid range and even fron the top of the key Open 3's. All the players you mentioned got jump shot and lateral speed and quick burst speed. Memphis traded Steve Adams, was a disaster and now regretted their mistake and went there to pick a player does exactly what Steve Adam did. Clog the paint, but at least Edey got a NBA level post technique and move set
It was a reach. They could've trade down he would've available way later since nobody was picking him. Cheapest contract adding more financial versatility for other pieces on the FA

Most of the draft experts that I've read says the Spurs got a good deal because the draft capital they got.
Some of those picks that they got now they can use to trade for better players later.

@@JoshuaMartian-go3tmThe combine and private practices cemented what the scouts saw during his college career; he can't play defense, pass, and he's towards the bottom end in terms of athleticism. A lot of NBA analysts had him going in the late 20s. That being said, I don't hate the pick for the Lakers because they are desperate for more shooters.

When the best things your saying about the 4th pick (castle) is that he’s a winner, champion, makes winning plays , understands how to play and is a worker you are in trouble. It just means there was nobody else to take
Besides drafting Kel'El Ware who Miami got, this was best case scenario. I had Dalton going in the top 12 so for him to drop to LA is like a makeup for missing on Jordan Hawkins and passing on Whitemore in last year draft.
Watching this happen in real time was crazy. Once again the Lakers and Heat will be connected in the draft because I really expected either team to take Knecht OR Ware. Ware is going to be a very good back up center early on in his career. His yearly improvement was very impressive and I wouldn't be surprised if the Heat develop him into a good big man. Knecht is ready to go though. I imagine they passed on him because of Jaquez AND Robinson rejuvenating his career. I honestly would've said they'll regret this pick if I didn't like Ware. He would've been a solid back up for AD too.

Someone make the Dillingham trade make sense to me . Ima Heat fan ( love getting a Big with potential btw ) but I think Dillingham and Castle could’ve been their potential new backcourt .
San Antonio didn't like anyone at 8 and had a good team of starters already. Everywhere people were talking about how 2024 is a historically weak draft so San Antonio was able to get two good picks in future drafts where the talent will probably be a lot better and when Wembenyama is in his prime. Makes sense to me.

Vassal is nice but come on they needed a playmaker like Rob . No one on the spurs has those moves or able to create and shot like Rob . And you pair him with wemby on the lobs and pick and roll !? Even his college coach compared him to iverson . Smh trust me he would have been great for them .

No they didn't. It was a good trade for San Antonio. They didn't have a need in a weak draft at 8. So they turned the pick into essentially two good picks in probably better drafts in the future as Wembenyama is reaching his prime.
@@KK-pm7udnah the context that the Spurs desperately need a PG is missing though. Even if Rob ends up being a 6th man, you'd think he would be a good fit next to Wemby. Now with Conley to teach him the ropes, Rob will end up looking good eventually and Spurs will be roasted for this trade until that 2031 pick delivers a top pick for them.

It's confusing when looking on the surface; like why wouldn't they pick up on another young player to develop alongside Wemby.
It's two-fold Wemby will be a superstar VERY soon (he's almost there NOW), so surrounding him with a bunch of young players that will likely take longer to develop than he does, is not most ideal. The Spurs will package this pick to trade for a more developed talent; which will maximize Wembys arc.
With so many teenagers, a major concern has to be maturity and basketball IQ. No shortage of raw athletes, but these guys have barely been coached at a top level, yet to face any kind of adversity on the court or work consistently in a system with teammates. They need to keep kids in college - those kids will make enough via NIL anyway.
I'm a Lakers fan....I actually like the 17th pick. We do need more shooting. Now I'll have ISSUE if we waste the 55th pick on Bronny, just to please his daddy.
