Yes, please do that, two mixing sessions, first with plugins and then with hardware and finally a comparison. I really like the content of your work on TH-cam, thank you.
And do the plugins justice. I know you're biased towards hardware but I've actually heard mixes and masters that get really really really close to hardware. It's usually that 3D effect that's more defined in the analog gear that I've yet to hear software match.
@@Bronwyn031 You're right, there is a slight difference for the better with the hardware but still enough for me to opt for a hybrid system. I do my mixes on the box with plugins and then master them with analog gear. The end result is wonderful.
The problem with the subscription model is that it's like renting a house, you never own it. You stop paying for it and you have nothing again. Makes it a pain if you load old projects using that software
Also comparing it to owning hardware at least, if you don't need it anymore, you can sell it. Usually for not much less than you bought it for. Reselling software is a bit more finicky, but can be done in some cases.
Yeah, it would be great to hear the analogue vs plugins-only comparison... would be interesting to hear both the individual instruments, and the full mix.

I am glad you mentioned the subscription issues. I have always felt if, for example, you were sick for a few months and unable to work, you would lose access to your tools. Depending on your finances when you are well enough means a heavy outlay immediately if you had the money. Imagine you were a carpenter, plumber or electrician? You would not rent your tools!

I don't think any professional working engineer could risk having a subscription , (what I call perma-renting) unless they had money to burn from already being famous. Even then what professional would risk losing access to gear. We have to recall all the time.
@ 0:42 - Regarding plugin subscriptions: It must be stated that plugin subscriptions are GREAT under the following circumstances: ... 1) For the limited time through which you can't afford to pay the cost for outright ownership. 2) For those who are starting out or want an extended test and learning period across a library of plugins, most of which you don't know their function, usefulness, or quality, a subscription you can use on the cheap, until you determine the ones you actually need and want to buy, can't be beat. Even restarting a subscription temporarily for another month to do more in-depth testing and learning isn't a bad idea for those plugins that don't offer much of a trial period. Oops! Just came back to indicate another strong reason why plugin subscriptions can be preferred over buying outright: 3) AI ... We're on the cusp of a phenomenally disruptive transition. Though it isn't fully apparent just YET, with the advancing pace of AI innovation, ALL sectors of music production plugins will face exponential change. Coveted plugins of today, though still highly functional and effective, will lose favor and begin to gather dust as newer AI-fortified plugins lead to better and faster workflows and arguably better results. Subscribing to plugin libraries rather than buying would be a hedge against investing huge amounts of money to own plugins whose upgradable shelf-life might grow increasingly shorter. My bet is that plugin manufacturers will begin to create new lines of AI-fortified plugins rather than updating current lines. The current lines would still be supported with bug fixes, but new features will be applied only to the newer AI-fortified plugins, leaving the old lines behind in terms of innovation, as well as your investment in them.

Really small amount of plugins compared to us who can't afford hardware 😅
Death to subscriptions 😅
My least favorite plugins I have are WAVES because none of the stuff is standalone. You have to be plugged into the internet to even be able to use WAVES. Then, you have to be paying every year for the same plugins I already have. It is basically renting WAVES instead of owning it. Now, even video editors like ADOBE do the same thing. Not cool.
I am completely open to receive one of those licenses of RX that you don't use!
Well explained ..i don't do subscriptions.
