This human being is AMAZING! As a 67 year old who is still longing to follow Jesus in His way, you are an authentic picture of the holiness and brokeness of a true disciple. Thank you for this glimpse, I'm inspired.

It is 11 months later but this is a fresh word for me today. I can preach, teach, intercede, and slay people in the spirit but God has been pointing the pulse on my reactive spirituality as it relates to my spouse and aging mother. Rarely any gentleness, very little patience, and many times an interruption. Lord have mercy on me. I stretch this out before you and ask for forgiveness. Not asking for sympathy - forgiveness. Thank you for this life transforming message!!!!

I am a cave dweller also. I have isolated lately, as I am working on my doctorate. The Lord interrupts me with people in need of guidance. It’s never convenient and it’s usually when I have a deadline. My wife interrupts me and I never know how I can get everything done, but I go and spend time with her and somehow I meet my deadlines. The only thing I’ve done consistently is spend time with Lord spend time with her and family. Thank you for the message.

So moving in so many ways! Thank you John for having Tyler share. “Interruptions, monk-like practices, reactive spirituality, to have needs to receive love, Papa Joe, 4 step examine, fig leaf vulnerability…” Every minute was full to the brim! Will listen again and pass on! TY all.

Good Morning! ☀️ This series is so valuable and clearly we are all at different places with our relationship with the Lord and the one thing that resonates most with me is how important it is to be vulnerable with God to be able to be in his presence. Why is it such a struggle, it’s not like he doesn’t know…
Tyler helped clarify for me with his exit of his work day prayer in preparation for his presence with his family. Even if he knows God sees it all, he goes through the moments of his day, this walk through is cleansing it’s the letting go process especially the burden of the work day. So good, he won’t be bringing that burden to his family.
I needed to know how to release and be present.
Wow, the power of prayer…thank you 🥰💕🍃

Love this so much! I listened to many parts twice! Love when Tyler shared about his little moments of surrender as a way of uncovering his need to allow God to love him. ❤ Spiritual practices are important proactive ways to invite God into our day (I am working on the discipline of developing those), but I love the conversation on the interruption of our plans as a way we can surrender and embrace what God is showing us about becoming more of who he intends us to be. ❤

Sister Teresa referred to"...seeing Jesus every day in all his distressing disguises." She saw Jesus in every face. Humbling.

“All the moments of surrender…are ways that God is loving me. … To love someone they have to express some type of need. And I don’t express much need.” (Tyler Staton) Such a helpful and scary thought.
It reminds me of, “If you want a deep friendship, you can’t always be the strong one. You will sometimes have to let somebody else carry your mat.” (From Everybody’s Normal Til You Get to Know Them, P. 46, John Ortberg)

What a wonderful young man. Thank you John for bringing us hope for the young folks in our lives. I’m feeling the disconnect between us old foggies and the younger generation. A gap that only Jesus can close, and it seems he’s using Tyler in that role. God bless him. ❤

A grand podcast; especially liked being proactive towards God's will verses reactive to your self-will. I'm converting to Catholicism; and Tyler Spiritual words are what I'm learning during my conversion.
