I'm related to the Hirschi Mennonites and a history buff. I'm excited to watch this! Milton Hershey is a descendent of them, and I'm his 10th cousin, as we share a 9-10th great grandfather named Christian Hirschi and his wife Adalheid Stauffer.
Excellent video! I am a Martin. My grandfather was from St. Jacobs Ontario. I remember him talking about the summers he spent in Saskatchewan harvesting wheat I believe it was. I'm now wondering if he went there because it was a Mennonite community.
My name is Benjamin Eby. My grandfather was Luke Metz Eby, from Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. I don't know if you ever cross the path of any Ebys or not. I know that there were some Martins that associated with my family.
Hi There! I am curious was sources you used for this series! I am writing a research project on the mennonite denomination for my college Theology course and was wondering if I had access to whatever sources you used?
Thanks for you narrarative,it's good to hear others opinion on this, instead of just thinking why it became,a kind of peaceful better people than fighting one another's thoughts about who's who wants to be and demanding and trying to make one people or forcefully trying to make someone there not doesn't make sense,so create a good peaceful mennonite group 😀
Many documents write about the troubles of the community and church(s). You would read off the examples of so and so was drunk in public, or even drunk at the hearing for abolishment out of the church. Some we're sleeping with others spouses, some cases were homosexuality even back then, there were even rapes recorded, so, it has always been dealing with the judgement aspect.
"For thousands of years most Europeans were Roman Catholic." Incorrect. The Christian religion wasn't even recognized until the fourth century, and the center of Christendom was Constantinople, not Rome. By 1500, the church had only been dominant for just a little more than one thousand years, not "thousands."

Good to hear from you. I'm not related to any Ebys as far as I know. But the premier of the province I live, British Columbia, is David Eby!
Wonderful. Very informative. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for watching!

You're right of course. Sorry not to be more accurate.
I'll fix this when I have time to rerecord this segment [unless I can figure out how to edit that part].
