- In 1988 five legends spanning multiple decades and music genres came together to form a supergroup. They brought a sense of humor to music at a time when some musicians were taking themselves a bit too seriously. The band forbade technology in their recordings. They called themselves the 'Traveling Wilburys'.

The best music is having a good time with friends and I miss them all
The Super Group of all Super Groups.
Traveling Wilburys were a great band!
I still love them! Incredible super-group!
Being relatively old, Roy was one of the greats of my youth. Then I turned 13 and the Beatles showed on my doorstep!
Best Group of Accomplished Musicians who came together, at the right time and the right place. All phenomenal. What a great way for Roy to head into his next journey! Then George, and next Tom, which sets mortality as a reality for those of us who knew them when. I had End of the Line played at my husband's funeral, at the end! Of this life only and on to the next.
The pile of egos that those men left at the front door was amazing
Absolutely the power of the universe that brought together, through Mr. Harrison, the Traveling Wilburys.😎👍👍
History in the making and proof that the universe has great taste😉👍👍
Five buddies hanging out for a few weeks creating a classic album out of scratch.
Just played their songs on my playlist today while out walking 👏🏻👌🏻
I love this and i'll keep it safe in a cool dry place
@@anth-ny that’ll be handy someday lol
The Traveling Wilburys were a Great Gift at the right Time , I Liked Roy or Lefty . He is a Lot of the Reason for the Group I guess , I mean They were all big fans of Roy , I Miss Them :) QC
Definately Bigger than The Beatles. I was happy for George, that he found equality With The Wilbury Gang. Totaly blessed with the line up Roy, Jeff, Bob, and Tom.a great pity they never played Live.
Great video. It was a lot of fun to watch.
Thanks so much. Glad you enjoyed it!
Looks good without glasses George always modest
First heard on the radio and thought WTF, who is this, loved it
The cream of the crop.
After watching so many Traveling Wilburys videos on TH-cam, and finding out who some of these guys really were, when Tom Petty was found dead, I cried.
That was such a sad loss.
Few people notice the inside joke in the bands name: a "Wilbury" is to music production/mixing as a "Mulligan" is to golf. A mistake, a goof.
Something you never heard about is if they blew a fuse while recording. If your in the middle of recording and instruments and the power goes out, what do you do?
What a fantastic video have a wonderful weekend freewheeling also happy independence day to the United states alalso Canada day is Monday where I live ❤😊
Thanks you too!
George was a killer lead player not just rhythm guy
Even the name of the band is a joke, a play on a phrase used in the studio when an artist or producer or engineer doesn’t want a cough or a burp or a dropped harmonica to ruin an otherwise good take: “We’ll bury it in the mix.”
Tom Petty was signed to Shelter Records ( Founded by Leon Russell ) & when the label folded much to his dismay the distributor MCA became the holder of his contract. He wanted to be a free agent & sign a new more lucrative contract.
Ha JD Robert's of CITY TV's New Music show from Toronto interviewing Petty 😂
1988? Wow, where did we go wrong and notice if you are a fan how the album did not age, but we did ...so badly? Lol.
Gary Moore played lead guitar on She's my Baby.
Telling you.. Johnny Winter and Roy look alike
Petty...musta looked around and said ,well, im in a band with Dylan,Roy Orbinson and a Beatle. Wtf???
George Harrison was right Roy Orbison is cool
Bob Dylan was from Hibbing, MN
He moved there after he was born. I just listed their birth location.
Great little side project. Roy's last stand. Some of Bob and George's last good music.
I don't think our George would like to be thought of as a rhythm guitarist! - surely that was John's forte....Ed
Who played drums?
Sidebury
The fabulous Jim Keltner
Mr. Fat and Sensitive himself: Jim Keltner!
Roy bears a strong resemblance to Johnny Winter. Just noticed.
They banned technology? How did they record without technology?
Fram a pure musical standpoint it was a boring band. No ambition, no forward-thinking, just traditional mainstream.
You are a nincompoop!
Wilburys are greater than the Beatles.
Nonsense, you know it.
Big Wilbury fan here.
@@Thomas-xs2kq Just kidding
that was Tara Browne as George

Good music, but I have to ignore some dark history in order to enjoy it - e.g. the image of Petty punching a hole in a wall (and fracturing his wrist); Harrison verbally trashing most of Paul McCartney's later work; Dylan's frequent, casual cruelties to Phil Ochs. On the other hand, I've known folks who worked with Orbison and Dylan, and who had only good things to say about them as co-performers.
2024 dear god they are all dead except Jeff....how crazy is that?
I think Bob might be a little dismayed to hear that.
I I discussed an idea with Roger McGuinn that he should join the Wilburys and take on the role of George Harrison on the 12th string; Chris Isaak could do the Roy Orbison parts since he’s got the same kind of voice Bob Seger could do the Tom Petty vocals.
The surviving members of the original set would be Bob Dylan and Jeff Lynne.
@@RexxSchneiderit’s funny because Jeff Lynne is the ghost in the industry.
The guy has a career that’s insane.
They didn’t know Bob but knew Jeff.
@@RexxSchneider Original Zim died back in the sixties....Motorbike crash
Don't tell Bob Dylan that, he may just drop dead.
TO: @venerealdisease420...
I guess you've never checked out Dylan's lyrics.
Theres plenty of humor in your atrocious spelling though...
All star bands usually suck. Nothing memorable from these rock stars
Petty...musta looked around and said ,well, im in a band with Dylan,Roy Orbinson and a Beatle. Wtf???
