    John Lennon once said, "before Elvis there was nothing". Best description of his impact. Elvis was the Omega of pop culture. Everything in music evolved around him and grew after he came. That's why he is referred to as the KING!👑

    The leg is Elvis keeping the rhythm and timing
    Elvis is conducting and directing the band with his body movements and gestures.
    That stand up drumming is Elvis messing with the drummer Ronnie tutt. . Elvis would change things up with his mood , so follow , they all did.
    Elvis loved roller coaster s and multiple crescendos in some of his songs.
    Enjoy the ride.

      @dabdella1460 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mustangmarty8491 that was his whole body shaking back in the fifties he was referring to.
      James burton said Elvis played guitar but really was a drummer. Keeping rhythm and timing. With his body.

    Elvis started his karate in the army when in Germany and worked his way up to nineth degree black belt and incorporated the moves into his stage act.

    This was a great performance by Elvis. If you want to witness a very moving performance where he really pours his soul into his singing, please react to If I Can Dream (1968 comeback special - the one with the white suit). The song was a tribute to Martin Luther King Jr who was assassinated that year. Given the current events, the lyrics are just as relevant today as they were 52 years ago.
    And yes, in the 1970's people could smoke pretty much any place they wanted - indoors, at work, in restaurants (restaurants had smoking and non-smoking sections), etc. Although I remember that on Greyhound buses, smoking was only allowed in the last 3 rows of seats!

    He's shaking his leg because he has rhythm! This clip is from his movie "That's the Way It Is" and he makes reference to it.

    When you mentioned that man smoking in the audience. Well back then we could smoke cigarettes anywhere. We could smoke while pushing our carts in the grocery store , in a theater; while sitting in the city bus, even in the courtroom if we had court and we were talking to a judge we could have a cigarette in our hand. We could smoke while walking through downtown buildings or smoke practically anywhere. It was a different time back then.

    They didn’t call him Elvis the Pelvis for nothing. His earlier works, he really moved. Some people told him he was causing juvenile delinquent behavior in their kids! Sometimes they would tape him from the waist up. He was certainly unique. One of a kind! He’s still missed after all these years. He died in 1977 & he’s still celebrated.

      And his fans. That's why he'd throw random funny lines into some of his songs like the "shove it up your nose" line. I saw him twice in person and both times he did that.

    Johnny Cash, who toured with Elvis in their early years, called him the "shaky kid." Elvis was known for shaking his legs and gyrating his hips. It made him very controversial when he first came up in the '50s. On the Ed Sullivan show he was actually filmed from the waist up, because of the backlash the Milton Berle Show received when they had him on. Check out his performance on the Milton Berle Show and/or his live performance (1956) of "Heartbreak Hotel."
