What an intensity! The players are so fired up, the fans are so fired up, the commentators are so fired up. Deym! This is 90s basketball at its finest. Defintely the greatest era in the NBA.
Everything Jordan did to kobe he absorbed and remembered and added to his arsenal for later use. Kobe was the ideal student. In some cases he seemed to invite certain scenarios just to see, up close, how Jordan would handle it. Kobe is one of the Great minds in the history of the game. And he took advantage of having access to the NBA God that is Michael Jordan.
I remember this game. Absolutely amazing. Jordan scored 30, Pip scored 35, and Kukoc had 31. I don't know how many times there have been teammates who scored 30-30-30, but this is the only time I remember seeing it. The Bulls let the Lakers know that you guys may be the team of tomorrow, but we're still the team of today.
+Tom Mattson Bulls generally had a hard time against the Lakers. An older team generally has a harder time against a more physical team. But if they played in the playoffs, the Bulls would have spanked the Lakers much like the way Utah did, who didn't do that well as well against the Lakers in the regular season.
+at1212 b . This was the '96 Bulls whose record just got broken, 20 years later, by Golden State. The Bulls went on to win 6 championships from starting in '96. The '96 Lakers were not getting passed the Bulls no matter how tough they were.
MrSupernova111 Hmm, this was the 96-97 Bulls Team (69 win). They were on their way for 5 championships that season. They won their first in the 1990-91 season. The 95-96 team, Kobe wasn't in the NBA and Shaq was with the Magic.
Kobe's mind was messed up at the end of this game! He had never seen anything like this in his life. I believe this set his standard of excellence and made him strive so hard.
Oh give me a break. I know Im not going get a reply from a three year old comment. But theres nothing that was ever reported, admitted or said in any way shape or form that Kobe had never seen anything like it in his life. You homers guys are seriously delusional. I happen to have this game. Even Hubie Brown the commenter was pointing it out (this was before NBA sent memo to evry organization and media that they werent allowed to talk about bad officiating on tv anymore).
And he became better than Jordan.. why does people act like Jordan was so ahead of everyone and treat him like a God.. when in terms of basketball skill Kobe stomps him
@@drlight6677 Yeah Kobe may have thrown up some airballs at the end of that playoff game against the Jazz but i remember thinking it took guts for a 18 year old to take those shots in a playoff game when the other guys on the Lakers wouldn't. I knew then that this kid was going to be good and he would soon be making those shots in crunch time as he got more experience. Even at that age you can tell the players who want the ball when it counts and those who don't. You can't teach that.
So glad I got to watch Michael Jordan. So many kids wear 23 and never got a chance to see him live. But thanks to TH-cam, you can catch a glimpse of him.
same for me bro and then after the games , hit the park and play for another 4 05 5 hours screaming out the name of your fav player with every jumper u take
jack mehoff LOL Rodman is one of the greatest rebounders of all time. You clearly must be 10 years old to not know or acknowledge how valuable he was to the team. Not to mention his clever tenacity. He has broken many records in rebounding throughout his career. The man was a defensive legend. Plus, 17 rebounds means he denied between 34 to 51 points to the other team and helped his own team score up to a potential of 51 (assuming they shot and scored only 3's from each of his rebounds). You're a special kind of stupid son.
he broke rebounding records? haha. see Wilt Chamberlain, Bill Russell. Rebounds don't mean denial unless they were offensive which gives another opportunity. You're a chump.
The 90's basketball was amazing! Miss watching the Bulls on WGN with Jordan back then, like watching a playoff game everytime. Especially when the Bulls went up against Shaq and Penny a year before this.
What an epic game with many epic moments: Van-exel hitting everything. Kukoc getting on fire. At 05:03 referee slips and falls. At 06:35 this is how you construct a wall. Back then it was called defense. At 08:25 Jordan speeds-up to guard his man, but slips, and yet, he made Jones lose the ball delaying the last shot and making them miss. At 10:00 Absolutely no helping the other team. At 11:22 Pippen and Jordan intelligently stopping Rodman to avoid a technical. At 11:48 some random angry fan how probably call-in sick the next day of work. At the end Rodman got 18 rebounds and just 2 very important points.
A lot of people also don't remember during a playoff game vs Knicks Rodman drove down the lane and kicked out to Bill Wennington for the game winner. And all the Kobetards forget that late in games Shaq was actually clutch when it came to free throws. They have this myth that in the 4th Shaq always sat out and Kobe took over by himself.
What people don’t realize about MJs greatness is he didn’t over complicated his reads on offense. He took what you gave him. And he was impeccably efficient. There’s no wasted movement. The margin of error was so small for a defender position-wise.
I remember this game. I thought for sure LAL would win. Tony Kukoc was the hero of this game and the reason they won. Despite the title of the video, MJ struggled and Kobe wasn't a factor as he played less than 10 mins. Van Exel was a killer in this game. Pippen had a great game. Kukoc already mentioned. MJ got his points. Rodman had 18 boards and could still defend Shaq.
the difference between Lebron and Michael Jordan are Lebron said he was the best player on the planet but Michael let his play show he was the best player on the planet. Ultimate confidence.
I love that moment at 10:00 minute mark of this video where Rodman knocks Shaq down for a hard foul and Pippen pushes Kukoc's hand away after he was trying to help him up. That's good ole fashioned basketball, man. I still remember watching this game live on Optus Tv and have it on DVD now as well.. Classic
Slick Nick was a beast even putting Cinci in the mix back when ACC n Big 10 had college on lock. So many story lines in this game all the way to Rumeal Robinson
i remembered watching this game, MJ wasnt feeling it that night, luckily Kukoc n Pippen was on fire that night. I was also very impressed with Van Exel.
Toni was damn good, very clutch when you didn’t expect it! Easy to forget behind MJ, Pip, Rodman memories - but more often than not, he was solid player and very good on offense! He is a very big part of why the bulls had success after Michael came back 💯
1:35 "watch Kobe Bryant guarding Michael Jordan for the first time." Wow. There's an interview with Kobe where he says he wasn't going to be intimidated by Jordan even when other players called him black Jesus 😁 I wonder what Kobe was thinking at this point

+James Reese Idk. With that defense Jordan, Pippen, and Harper had Steph and Clay wouldnt get off nearly as many three's as they do now. And they with the triangle defense, it would be hard to get by the bulls.
This is a good video to show how great the n a used to b...and how great some unknown player r...nic van exel was a baller un known to young ppl these days

Yeah I know that he's a rookie on this but actually I am impressed with how MJ played like those kinds of quick moves to the basket that kobe hasn't. Although kobe is better in terms of 3 point shots than MJ but overall I can still judge their biggest difference because MJ can carry his team to a championship unlike kobe when shaq left from the lakers in exchange for odom they didnt even entered the playoffs. They needed some star big men like pau gasol which I think was one of the reasons for getting his 4th and 5th championship. Otherwise he couldnt able to win a ring without a star big men. The bulls won their championships without a star big men not because of MJ and Pip can dominate their game but they also make their teamates play much better on defense and offense.

That was the best replay of a game I've seen in years.
Pippen just smiling everytime one of his guys tries to start a fight. Love it
Golden age of NBA.
I’ve never seen someone so entertaining as Nick van Excel! And Toni Kukoc draining 3’s like a madman??? Awesome!
Kobe's mind was messed up at the end of this game! He had never seen anything like this in his life. I believe this set his standard of excellence and made him strive so hard.

Bulls were an absolute nightmare in the 90's....pippen jordan and Rodman made everyone on the team feel like they were better than they were.
Kukoc easily one of the top 5 NBA European ever
Rodman 2 points, 17 rebounds. very useful.
Are you being sarcastic because 17 rebounds is incredibly impressive...
really useful. no sarcasm intended. not to mention his defensive presence

Two greatest players of all time
Kukoc TWICE a three!!! in shaq's FACE! I've watched this game over and over and will never get tired of it!
