Awesome video! Started HEMA 4 months ago and happy that my Regenyei standard feder was a good choice :)

I would say that siderings protects you from a bruised hand but increase the likelihood of serious injury as they tend to catch thrusts inside of them unabling the blade to flex and often result in broken fingers and perforated hands.

Never seen it happen down the clubs so it's not something I've personally thought about - good call out for consideration for those looking at ring-hilted longswords.

Worth noting that some events (tournaments) explicitly ban ring-hilts for whatever reason. If you're looking to pick up your first feder and are thinking of attending said events, probably something to keep in mind. It's the only reason I haven't gone for them on my Reg custom.

They've only banned ring-hilts so Stu doesn't turn up, but worth calling it out to be fair.

Oh we know you love the tip 🤣😂🤣 and it's only 5cm longer than my regenyei custom but I feel that difference everything we have fought!

Nah, Stu is just made of elasticated rubber so he has that little bit of stretch in him when the force of the blade pulls his arm forward.

@@thehemashow3447 Yea I wouldn't disagree with that, he has an uncanny ability to be able to strike when you thought you were out of timing :)

hey since a couple of comments have being on the rings, I d say that i ve been using the Regenyei tournament with rings when I began fencing, then I found myself unconfortable cause I couldn t fit my thumb through the ring, using a Spes lobster or a Sparring Glove. When I bind or strike a shillhau I prefer to move my thumb behind the shill, or at least on the guard. Anybody has the same problem with rings?
