- Learn how to make this beautiful and easy macrame plant hanger with few simple steps. This large spiral macrame plant hanger is created combining the most common macrame knots - Lark head knot, Double half hitch knot, alternate half hitch and gathering knot.

MATERIALS USED:
- 3mm/3ply twisted cotton cord
- 55mm wooden ring
- Planter/bowl (Diameter-28cm, Height-15cm)
- S-hook
- Scissor
MEASUREMENTS:
Total cords used: 44.2m or 48.33yd or 145ft
Cut & Prepare:
- 12 Cords: 360cm each
- 1 Cord: 100cm

Yo. Sweet design but 3.6m (360cm) is not long enough. I got as far as the 14 knots before I had to join it. Might try extend each rope if I can to get the full design. I think 5m (500cm) would have been better.
I had the same issue, I agree with you 5 I would even make it 6m
360 cm is almost 12 feet. How did you not have enough it doesn’t even look like she’s using 4 feet in this video.

Spent most of my day making this yesterday (I’m a newbie :) I used 3mm jute twine and although my hands took a beating, it’s beautiful! I had a terracotta pot about the same size as the one you used and thought jute would provide extra strength 🤞🏻I ended up a little short on cord so had to change the end pattern, skipping the rows of of knots using 4 strings & just connecting everything with square knots which turned out looking amazing, I wish I could share a picture. Thank you!

I had to change the bottom as well because my cords were too short. I still love it though!
@@tracydimele5488 Me too, beautiful pattern but being a newbie followed the measurements and ended up way too short. Started running out of rope after the alternate half hitch knots that would go around the plant bowl. I was able to follow the tutorial though, thanks for sharing. Love the twists.

If I do it in 4mm twisted instead of 3mm as mentioned in your tutorial, do I need more OR less cord length. Please advice as early as possible as I have the 4 mm cord and can't wait to start!

Love this design! Thank you for a great tutorial! I have a question about the flaring effect you get with the double hitch rows. I have a hard time getting the distance between the rows bigger and bigger in a way that is symmetrical. Do you think it would work if I tie all the rows close together? Seems I get a flaring effect that way too, even though it’s not as marked. Hope you understand my rambling question. 🙈
Hi Sofia, it should do but it will be more cirved spiral. You can pull them slightly at the end of your work & it should be good. Hope this helps x
I would use double the cord that she says or else you will be tying additional cords to 24 of you ends to be able to complete!! And yes tie them tight and close Try and stay the same width apart the entire length and it should spiral perfectly, also you should always work on it from a hanging position so you can judge this as you go.

I made this with 3mm 360cm cords but the length was insufficient to complete the design, had to reduce the no of half hitch knots and skip the last knotting, for a much smaller pot. Not sure if i knotted them to loose or what.
Sorry to hear this, the measurements used for the plant hanger is exactly what it says in the description. Knotting them loosely can be one of the reason or may be check how many rows of double half hitch u have created for the first part.
@@DeepaRai Thanks for replying. I did 22 rows. I'm not sure what went wrong but the other time i did half hitch plant hanger from another website , i had the same problem. This is second time i do hitch knots.
Same for me. Knots are not loose but the cord is running out.

Las instrucciones dicen 12 cuerdas de 3.60m. Sin embargo a varias personas no les alcanzó el material y recomiendan cuerdas de 5 metros, mejor que sobre y no quedar a medio camino! Suerte!
I followed the formula for converting 3mm cord to 4mm cord and had plenty of cord. I've been practicing macrame for nearly a year now though.

Hi Mary, this plant hanger is 80cm long after placing that bowl. The measurements are always shown in the video so please do check for accuracy.

So I made this and it's beautiful but... be warned you need about 2 more feet of cord for each cord...

It looks like you used single strand, not triple strand, and maybe that's why you had enough cord. I have alreasy cut all the cord per your specifications and i am going ro have to add cord.

The absolute most frustrating thing when working a macrame project is RUNNING OUT IF CORD!!

I wish I read this before I got over 1/2 through and realized "there's no way I'm going to have enough cord here" 😤 I checked probably 5 times thinking I got the measurements wrong, nope I didn't get them wrong yet somehow I'm still about 50% short on cord. SO FRUSTRATED. I was so stoked about this one 😫
Beautiful design but the 360cm is NOT enough
The length of the cord in the instructions is way too short for the project. I wonder if you forgot to double the length of the cord since you are folding it in half. By my calculation after getting a little over half of the way through the pattern and seeing I would not have enough cord for the project I think this may be the case. Double the length would be a generous estimate of the required length.

Pretty bummed...spent hours doing this only to find out cord is not long enough. Your measurements are way off going to have to rework the ending...
Be sure to add about 3-4 more feet of cording or you will run out so aggravating!!!
Pls pls for people such as myself go slower especially when u start a new row!! Help
