Up here in Canada I have had the best luck with Lennox. We have a new 99% efficient Lennox now and so far we love it. We also have a 12 year warranty.

There's only about six companies for 150 brands. The components are mostly all made by three companies... Johnson controls; Honeywell, and Emerson electric. Daikin is actually one of the leading innovators and they now own Goodman. Installation is the key... proper installation is much more important than brand.

The only brand that matters is the one you can get parts on a weekend when it's 110 degrees.

I have a 34yr old Heil furnace and a 32yr old A/C in the 1000sq ft 10 house I bought last year. The furnace was inspected right away, clean as a whistle! I then had a vent cleaning company come in and whoa! the guy found an obstruction in his camera. He cut a hole in the duct work and pulled out a square couch pillow that was placed in the duct in a perfect upright fit. ?? Anyway, worked great all winter. Hoping for another few more years!! A/C sprung a leak...going mini-split though, muuuuuch cheaper, and hardly use the big box anyway. Last year's full system replacement was ove $10,000, and all prices on HVAC is up by nearly $1000. I'll be lucky if I can afford the furnace. But I'll go with Heil again for sure.

An installer that gave me a bid informed me Coleman makes furnaces, which was a surprised to me. Anyone know how this company fairs?

It is made by Johnson Control. Same as York.

My hvac teachers would have blown their minds with this video. Never buy a Lennox. (Great furnace and AC but NOT great prices.) Trying to get Lennox parts is
difficult because they come from the Lennox dealer. They don't discount. Your average Joe repair guy pays almost the same price you pay from Lennox for your
part. Stay away from Amana. They are made by Goodman and just marked up in price. Goodman is a great brand made in the USA with the most standardized
and common parts. Carrier, Bryant, Payne, Day and Night are basically the same product. Buy on price and your faith in the person installing the furnace. The
most important thing about purchasing a new HVAC system is THE PERSON INSTALLING IT! Installation day is number one with any furnace. NOT the brand! Stay
away from all the furnaces made by Lennox like Ducane, Air Flo, etc. Great furnaces by the way but the parts come from Lennox and they are expensive! I have a
Ducane by the way. Great furnace. Bought an extra igniter for emergency and surprise, Lennox wanted $158 for a Chinese made igniter!!! Good luck finding the
Lennox part(s) at your local distributor. My favorites are Goodman, Carrier products, (American Standard and Trane are good but overpriced) Rheem last. I don't care for
York. Too many problems. No micro channels, NO MODULATING!!! Stick with a LOCAL guy who buys parts LOCALLY. Your 10 year guarantee is worthless if
your modulating gas valve takes 10 days to get shipped to you. Most importantly...Installation day and installer are more important than the brand.

Why don’t you upload a video on your channel if you are going to preach? I bet you have never installed a door switch on unit before.

@F165 I have not installed a door switch. It wasn't necessary. My future will be in sales. If what I've written is incorrect, or if you have a different opinion, please let me know. Thank you.

Perfect, except you missed the most important step, heat rise. All furnaces come over fired from the factory. This step will double your longevity.

Bought into the Trane hype for a gas furnace. Noisy inducer fan because of a chipped blade. $800 control board failed just shy of the warranty. But they forgot to include a new igniter because the new board supplies 120v instead of the previous 80v. That is their practice, but they failed to follow it. Therefore the old igniter fried days after warranty. Their computer database updates are delayed, so they sent out another 80v for my serial #! It also fried! Off the shelf, same silicon nitride unit, about $40. Trane price I had to pay, $120. I fought them because they made the mistakes. They pretend to have a customer complaint department, but all you get is boilerplate answers. In my case, they replied with a boilerplate letter that explained that they have no control over the FREON supplier! I replied that they have my GAS FURNACE file mixed up with another AIR CONDITIONING customer. They replied that they have responded and that therefore my file is closed! I had to eat the hundreds in costs to fix their mistakes.

There are so many variables to determine “the best” brands. The data is never produced to say exactly which parts excel in longevity and reliability. I’ve had several HE furnaces and they all seem to have similar designs and many of the “visible” parts ( switches, inducer fan, etc.) come from the same factories or manufacturers. Replacement prices from warehouses don’t vary much by part so one could assume no significant difference in quality. What is not visible is the heat exchanger and burners. The quality of metals used and the welds probably relate to reliability over time, but getting those facts and data are manufacturer secrets. The use of ECM motors and more sophisticated circuitry creates still more unknowns. Repairs are expensive and wipe out a lot of the energy savings. Also, nobody considers the cost, energy and resources to create replacements. Then there is the whole matter of fastidiously changing filters and flushing the crap out of the AC compressor during the season.

Bryant carrier Lennox, absolute worst, Goodman absolute best. 30 years now, I won't install the first 3 for any amount of money.

    This is very subjective
and adding the cost to your content is only confusing the marketplace. Regionally these cost vary greatly and as a professional you should mention that.

You couldn't sell me any of these furnaces this guy is pushing. You can tell he is a salesman. Goodman is the only thing I buy and if you know anything about furnaces they are not complex and are all about the same. Price is the main difference. I will say that I wish Goodman made the cabinet a little sturdier but it still works as good as any of them.

I'm going to replace my Lennox furnace of 22 years and have looked at dozens of rating sites. Carrier and Trane are listed consistently in the top five ranks. You never mentioned them. Sounds like you're recommending furnaces where you get the best deals on price. I dealt with the same mentality years ago. I hired a contractor to install a Heil furnace. He gave me the same line. What a piece of crap that was.

Unless you live in an area which goes below -10° F, you need a heat pump not a furnace! The heat pump needs to be sized to the heat load, not the cooling load.
