Ephesians 1 starts out with addressing the Saints of Ephesus, the Faithful in Christ Jesus: verse 3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ has blessed us with every SPIRITUAL BLESSING in the Heavenly places in Christ. verse 3, is important you can’t start Ireading verse 4. You have to start reading in context., from verse 1. The Apostle Paul talks about spiritual blessing then 11:13 continues in verse 4 as He (God) chose US IN HIM before the foundation of the World to be HOLY, WITHOUT blame before Him in love,. Paul in all his letter use the phrases IN HIM, IN CHRIST. Paul in his letters uses the terms in Christ, in Him, in the Beloved as those who are already believers whose Identity is now in Christ. Paul uses these terms 10 times in Ephesians 1 and can not be glossed over. God is choosing the Spiritual blessings before the foundation of the world, for those who already believe, that those who believe would be Holy and without blame. Paul the Apostles is saying thar God chose Spiritual Blessings with be before the foundation of the World, not the actual people. Blessed 2024
This sounds eerily like what I heard a guy say many years ago that goes something like this "God predestined the plan, not the man". This makes no sense. There can be no plan that does not include a man or men. God made man with the express purpose of giving a people to His Son and He knew exactly who they were before He created anything. Can God not know something? His predestining men for salvation is based on His omniscience & foreknowledge and there can be no other outcome that what He has predestined to happen.
@ Predestination is mentioned 4 times in the New Testament, all those times the Bible says believers are predestined to be conformed to the Image of Christ Romans 8:23, or Ep. 1:11 Those who already believe are predestined to receive an inheritance. The inheritance is yet future for believers, which Peter says is kept in heaven for you. The Inheritance is yet future. Predestination is not to salvation, but believers are always predestined for our inheritance.
@@theresaread72 HERE ARE YOU CLAIMS & MY ANSWERS POINT BY POINT, NUMBERED FOR CONVENIENCE: 1. Claim: Predestination is mentioned 4 times in the New Testament Answer: Actually it occurs way more often than that throughout the whole Bible, but that’s another discussion. Not always the actual word but the concept is there. 2. Claim: All those times the Bible says believers are predestined to be conformed to the Image of Christ Romans 8:23, or Ep. 1:11. Answer: There is no mention of predestination in Romans 8:23. You may have meant Romans 8:29-30 (?) Ephesians 1:11 says those in Him (Christ) have received our inheritance ALREADY. It is a present reality. “In him we have also RECEIVED an inheritance.” The second half of that verse reads: “because we were predestined according to the plan of the one who works everything according to the purpose of his own will.” Nowhere in this verse is there a mention of being conformed to Christ as in sanctification. It is only about being predestined to salvation, which is the believer’s inheritance. 3. Claim: Those who already believe are predestined to receive an inheritance. Answer: You have reversed the Biblical order of things. Those who are predestined believe and then receive an inheritance, which is eternal life. In the mind of God this was accomplished before the foundation (creation) of the world and we believe in time. 4. Claim: The inheritance is yet future for believers, which Peter says is kept in heaven for you. The Inheritance is yet future. Answer: Our inheritance is past, present and future. Past: In the secret counsels of the Triune God; Present: We have salvation NOW if we are in Christ. We have the earnest of the Spirit (Eph. 1:14), and 1 John 5:13 says we can KNOW we are saved now; Future: We await the consummation or completion of our salvation (glorification). 5. Claim: Predestination is not to salvation, but believers are always predestined for our inheritance. Answer: Predestination is absolutely TO salvation. Salvation involves being predestined (elected), called, regenerated, adopted, justified, sanctified, then finally glorified. Of course it is also being predestined to conformity to the image of Jesus, which is what sanctification is. But it is much more than just that. Romans 8:30; Ephesians 1:5 etc. There are so many verses that speak about us being chosen by God for salvation, but none that say we choose God. I don’t know how anyone can read the Bible and not see this. God bless.
@ predestined is a form of predestined, and in Romans 8:23 Believers are predestined to be conformed to the Image of Jesus Christ. These are no secret councils of God, our inheritance is only future. There is no place in scripture that say we have our inheritance now.Out inheritance is future and in heaven where rust and moth can not destroy, or thieves can not break in and steal.
