    Looks delish! 😋 I'm gonna attempt to make this but don't have a waffle cone maker, I wonder if it'll be possible to make the paper on a frying pan? 🤔

    • @RunAwayRice
      @RunAwayRice  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I tried making in a frying pan and the results are mediocre. It's difficult to get an even thickness without pressing the paper. The waffle cone maker does a great job.

    delicious recipe. I don't have a machine to make the tapioca sheets. is there another way?

    • @RunAwayRice
      @RunAwayRice  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The waffle cone maker is the best option. I've tried a few different methods and batters (like in a frying pan and oven) with unsatisfactory results. If you live near a Vietnamese market, you can buy the tapioca paper. Good luck!

    Can you use this steaming method making the steamed layer cake?

    • @RunAwayRice
      @RunAwayRice  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you can steam the mung bean and sticky rice instead of pressure cooking. You can also make in the rice cooker as well. Good Luck!

    • @hbcheng
      @hbcheng 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I actually meant.. for the steamed layer cake recipe can you use the steaming method in the the instant pot like how you did here.. ?

    • @RunAwayRice
      @RunAwayRice  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Instant Pot's Steam function uses pressure and is too much heat for the delicate steamed layer cake. It's best to steam the cake the traditional way.

    Sweet rice wasn’t fully cook also and rice paper is sticked to waffle cone I cannot take it out . Please help me . Thanks

    • @RunAwayRice
      @RunAwayRice  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Hanh, sorry to hear you're having trouble. Did you use the pot-in-pot method for cooking the sweet rice? Did it look like it needed more water? If the waffle cone maker sticks, brush it with some vegetable oil.

    I tried to make this but the rice is not fully cooked after 15 minutes multigrain function and after nature pressure release. So I have to steam it 3 min more for it to fully cook. Would you suggest a longer cooking time next time? I also use pandan juice in place of water. Unfortunately, the rice taste a bit bitter instead of fragrant with pandan flavor as I have hope

    • @RunAwayRice
      @RunAwayRice  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Amy, sorry to hear this didn't turn out quite right for you. Definitely try cooking the rice longer next time, maybe 18-20 minutes next time. Some grains do take a bit longer. Was the pandan juice fresh or canned?

    • @amanar2023
      @amanar2023 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The juice was made from frozen pandas leaves. Also, how do you soften the outer edge of the tapioca wafer? The center is softened from the heat of the rice, but the edge is still crispy

    • @amanar2023
      @amanar2023 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also, sadly I don't have much success in cooking sweet rice using instant pot after trying several recipes . The xoi turns out not fully cook at the end. Part still incompletely cook n part mushy from the same pot

    • @RunAwayRice
      @RunAwayRice  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmm...a bad batch of leaves perhaps or maybe the juice is too concentrated. I know you're an experienced cook so it seems unlikely. Have you had problems using fresh pandan juice in the past?

    • @RunAwayRice
      @RunAwayRice  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Amy, I am curious are you using the pot-in-pot method to cook the sweet rice or adding it directly into the inner pot. Have you tried soaking the rice beforehand? How much sweet rice are you cooking at a time and what different cooking times have you tried?
