M.kapoor used to take tips from M Rafi sahab, for how to sing with all sweetness and deep feelings. Even then, sometime his songs have not become this much worth hearing. Amongst his sang songs, in real, to be very frank, I like his 4 or 5 songs only. This one is amongst them. Totally heart touching lyrics, flute and santoor based interlude music with female chorus singing, make me jubilant and happy, especially at night when I go to bed. Trust me, I haven't any problem ever in sleeping. Second quality of this song is picturisation and sweet & simple composition of Ravi ji. Scene, scenery of green moutains and small Zarna's waterly natural Sangit created by proper instruments, Ravi ji mesmerised us. For 6.20 minutes, Ravi ji takes us into the different world of happy feelings. This is the Gem of Indian Film Sangeet.

Mahendraji entered film world at a time when Rafi, Talat Mahmood, Manna Da, Kishore da, Mukesh and many other great singers were already well entrenched with their own unique singing styles. Mahendraji was still able to establish himself as a singer with his own unique voice and style. No doubt, Rafi had a great influence on Mahendraji's singing style. Like Rafi, he could sing any type of song - classical, rock n roll, comedy, romantic or sad songs and he sang them with ease and like Rafi one can see the total involvement with which he sang each song. Like Rafi he gives each word in the lyrics the correct expression. The other most important value that he imbibed from Rafi was humility. Mahendraji was humble to the core, totally non controversial, respected all his seniors and was ready to help and promote juniors.
