Open plan offices are terrible and you should feel bad for promoting them. All the research done shows they're counter-productive, too, and increase distractions while decreasing personal interaction. Really it's just an excuse to micromanage.
Everyone should be given quiet private offices, and the neurodivergent people who just need to be around other people need to be given a communal work area where they can all chat and interrupt each other.
When it comes to collaborating with others open spaces is good but for work that is more individualized and need more focus than open space is horrible.
So if it's OBVIOUS that the work CAN be done from home, and that an office space is COMPLETELY unnecessary to begin with.... WHY are you trying to FORCE the archaic work construct back into the workforce? Let's spend MORE money, on a COMPLETELY unnecessary space to begin with, to try and cause people the inconvenience and extra cost of work travel, as well as increase the cost of the product, as that space for an office ISN'T free, and there are taxes, plus the renovations you are bragging about. Which in turn, HAS to be paid for, so therefore this will come from either reduced employee wages, or increased consumer costs... ignorant!
Frankly, I think this video misses one key concept, and that is no matter how nice an office is, it's more convenient, and comfortable for a person to work from home. If the idea is to draw people out of their house with a nice lunch room, you'll never see a return on investment. At the end of the day, most people aren't dying to see their co workers, is my guess.
This is more about decorating an office space than productivity. Super busy ppl need to be able to shut the door and focus! I am guessing designers need to collaborate, but most ppl need to just get-ter-done
Make sense for people who just use a simple laptop, but it'd be interesting to get this to work for a group of people who need relatively humongous or complicated setups, like stock traders (with their how-many-more-monitors-do-you-need). Can't encourage them to just have their laptops on their lap on the sofa because that promotes bad posture.
I think it's easy enough to put desks with monitor arms. Beautiful design would mean soft lighting, natural materials, plants, all a pleasant calm environment to do your high-paced job at. I think it was Citadel Securities that was famous for creating a relaxing environment
Sounds nice but it’s not going to happen. It’s been almost three years now and the office will never return back to the way it was. We still have people coming in but the numbers so extremely low. Travel costs to and from the home are getting more expensive. There is still no standard maternity leave so for women this was a dream so they can work from home while still being with their baby. I’m also able to travel while working without needing to be in the office so I can see family. I’m sorry but the office is a relic and no one wants to go back. I think when our lease is up our office will be downsized to just a few rooms. The question is what will happen to all that unused space? I think we should make more affordable apartments in cities but that’s just me.
Scrabble, Apple Computer, New York, (Detroit) Michigan are intimately familiar to me. Intimacy I likely owe to a valued childhood. I just wish this video compelled me more to do or be in business.
This is not a good solution for the employer or the employees. Way too much overhead for the employer and they will have a smaller pool of talent to recruit from. Also if the office is better than most employees' homes it means the company isn't paying well.
Ahahah try as much as you want - I don’t care, I want my home office… BTW. What the lady says in the begging on the video is BS according to tests and studies - Open Plan Offices reduce face to face interactions BY 70%!!!! And being honest- I really would prefer to have at least my private cubicle than sitting like an animal in the zoo on view for a whole day. Your open plan offices are literally counter productive according to research. Why people love Home office? Because they have their privacy… What are you doing? Taking away the last thing (cubicles) and put them in open plans to save money and space for a company. Come on - everyone knows that and your cute talk won‘t change that.
Sure looks classy, but all I see are people with terrible postures in sofas and chairs not made to sit on for an extended time. The next thing will be an office chiropractor.

Very true. I remember when my laptop and i used to move all over the office and outside the building to do some work online.

translation: make it more cozy and they will never go home
Thanks for posting.

A sea of people with cubicles is not ideal at all. It's distracting, loud and uncomfortable
Did you ever worked in open offices? It’s like cubicle distractions x100

we should make this video the new rick roll
I don't get why people who are in charge of organizations and institutions like me, don't watch these.
