Always try to plug the pump into the wall directly and bypass the float piggy back plug. Of the float failed, you may get lucky and be able to run the pump to empty the pit before you replace the pump.
Thanks for the video I have to replace the lid on mine do you have to have a septic company make the lid or can you buy it and cut the holes out for the PVC pipe
I have never looked into replacement lids therefore unsure if you can buy just the lid or you have to buy the entire bucket assembly and take the lid off.
@@factotumlife yeah mine is rusted out there's a big hole on the top I'm not sure if I have to have a septic company come out or I can replace the lid myself
you're a good man! Currently procrastinating to learn with hopefully very little hands-on time! Zoeller is the leading mfg for this application. Homedepot pump selection is limited to water sump pumps. The "bathroom duty" requires a specific pump impeller! Every float sensor failure requires disassembly... with surgeon gloves. I use a contactless electronic float that's based on a single stainless steel sensing rod. It makes levels adjustment easy. Troublesome float is now simply a backup. The sensor or float drives a 25Amp RELAY for extremely long service without failure. The pump on/off cycling in-rush current kills all regular float switch rather quickly until flood emergency.
Absolutely not! After you hooked your piping back up and pumped the pit down you may want to verify the level switch isn't tangling with the sides of the pit.
This exact same thing happened at the store I work at. The septic pump needs to be replaced at my work. It hums & the cord gets super hot. Looks very similar to the one that’s at the store I work at. They said it’s not a cheap fix, the tank has not been replaced in a while & now I can see why. At least now I know what to expect when they come replace it.
No check valve and no ball valve. Same problem the next time maintenance must be performed.
Why do you blur the video its just a tank of sewage

Probably one of, or is, the worst smelling DIY job any homeowners has to do. Plumbers don’t do these cheaply, and you can smell why.

TH-cam makes me feel like a child, who is not allowed to see bad things like blackwater.
What’s the cost of getting this done professionally? And resealing the pit.
At least you know if they been eating fiber like the doctor recommended
So no need to remove the waste water from the basin before installing new pump?

Gotcha,I was thinking of possible rags or whatever being in the tank. I guess I can fish around with a stick or something to check for that. Thanks
I have an identical setup? What kind of pump did you use? Thank you very much for the video
