i think they use 2 windows to watch the lyrics at genius so they have to use the mouse to pause, because they use it to scroll too, its just my guess tho.
The lyrics are totally not meh. It is, lyrically, one of his best songs ever. A song doesn't need to have a story or concept to be lyrical. He was spitting insane wordplays, double entendres, insane multis, etc. I can see how you don't view it as lyrically great because in my first few listens I didn't get everything he said, and I still find myself going back to it and understanding something more than 5 years later lol. Anyway, great video as always!
Tbh, from a lyrical standpoint if you split it into two sections. The use of language like the metaphors and double entendres and etc. he does a great job. It’s classic Em. But the other section is actually substance of what he is literally saying it’s really just him being narcissistically braggadocious. He’s not saying anything meaningful or deep. He’s just bragging and talking shit which Em is also good especially being creative about which Ik everyone likes about Em who listens to him. It’s a good song “lyrically” in one use of the word but substance why not so much and I think that’s what people are talking about when they say it’s not lyrical. It’s a great song. A fun song. A creative song. But not deep and meaningful like others he has.
Cameron Belanger No I said the lyricism accounts for the acrobatics of his words but doesn’t meet the other meaning of lyricism which is the message. If that makes sense. The way he is saying things is great. What is saying is not. It has no impact. How he says it and performs are these figurative speeches he’s proving what he bragging about. But that’s why the bragging is useless because we already know.
I believe this song has actually has the record for the most words in one song: "The song entered the 2015 edition of the Guinness Book of World Records in which Eminem is commended for the most words in a hit single, "Rap God", totalling 1,560 words in 6 minutes, 3 seconds."
There are lot of songs that have more words in it than this especially swans songs since all their songs are 15 minutes plus and oh comely by neutral milk hotel which is a folk indie rock song has more words than this and black thoughts funk flex freestyle has over 2,000 words definitely listen to oh comely tho that's just a songwriting masterpiece
I always maintained that eminem and techn9ne are the best way to introduce people who are into rock into rap. Its how i got into rap. The speed and agressiveness of the rap and the speed of the beat is just naturally appealing to rock fans.
As someone who used to be an elitist in music, I think he's talking about "the message", in the sense that it doesn't talk about something very interesting or with a hidden message. Still one of the best songs of the century so far and the lyrics/words are incredibly complex and unrepetitive, smart as the devil

@@zachcate7102 It's the vibe, it's the purity of his rap, and the quality of the song is just as top notch as his later stuff, albeit a bit more tame and less experimental. It's like the pure essence that he was before he crafted the personas and got caught up in the celebrity-dom.

itsLouieduh Speedom is proven to be slightly faster than Rap God. And that makes this song the fastest. In Rap God, Em raps at 6.12 words per second at some point, while in Speedom, he raps at 6.33 words. Also, he raps at this pace for a much longer pace in Speedom than Rap God.
