$100 for 3rd Strike?!?!? $150 for Crazy Taxi... I'd have bought those on principal, nevermind the fact that I have no way to transport them or any place to keep them... that's stupid cheap.
Thanks, John! I've never seen an arcade auction, kind of cool to see how it goes down and some of the prices were great on the cabinets. The reserves kind of spoiled the fun, but I can understand, you can't give them away ... some of those prices, though!
I always love the vids, but it's the host who always makes it most enjoyable! You have such a likeable personality, John. Even my mom, who has no interest in video games sometimes watches and asks questions, and is amazed by your arcade!
$175 for Simpsons, that is a good deal .
Thats what I said, Wonder why No one Bought it ? Somethings wrong maybe !
@@milesdyson5211 its cuz it was 2014. right now the 90s stuff is really expensive because all us 90s kids are adults collecting.
I think the home arcade thing is picking up steam now and that’s why stuff is expensive today.
Great video, thanks a lot for taking the time to document it. Your videos have kind of smacked me with a bit of nostalgia and my theater room is about to go away to make room for a arcade. I was so bummed I did not find out about this auction before. I would of bought a couple of those machines to get started before I even get the arcade set up.
WOW! this is the first arcade auction i ever seen. There is a store down the street that was selling my holy grail guantlet legends for 1000$ and i was shocked to see it go for 100$ on this video! great video John as always.
Holy fuck, I would I have paid those prices for most of those games in a heartbeat.
Great video John! I liked it uncut also. Tell your friend to lighten up too he seemed a little down!
Man you you're friend is nuts! The 90s was a great time for popular titles in the arcade.
It was great to see the full video, keep doing you auction walkthroughs this way
Oh yea this video was awesome! I loved seeing all the games so thnx for not editing them. I enjoyed everything even the pinball part lol. Please so more of these, these games bring back so many good memory's
It's funny you got recognized from your TH-cam videos by someone. You're a celebrity in the Arcade world!
Modded systems, will render all these coin OP gaming machines into giant paper weights😁👍sell, sell, sell!! Although I do appreciate them as a valued much appreciated original collectable 😊✌the good ole days are gone. loved the video guys your awesome💯💓mad props for your beautiful display bunker collection!!! I had 20 machines I'm down to 5 machines I miss them too aww the memories 😊
Great vid, love the unedited style. Like having a little journey to america and to an awesome arcade auction.
This was AWESOME, John!! More auctions!! Really exciting to see what the prices were, and if you were gonna buy something! :-) Keep up your super work!! Greetings from your fan in Sweden
So glad you posted this. I've been looking into buying some fighting game machines and know a guy who's selling some Tekken cabs for $100 each, but after watching this, I think I'm gonna go to some auctions before getting ripped off by this guy. I'd have spent way too much there, too.
I'm a CT local..thanks for posting this(albeit a little late than it came out, lol). Smiles arcade was one of the best places I went to when I was a kid..all I can remember is the dark room filled with all these screens..lol..there is a place in the center of CT that has a couple of games for sale..if I Remember it's Asteroids, Turbo(standup), Space Invaders Deluxe, and a fighting game.(I'm not into those so I can't remember the title). The place is "Wild Bill's Nostalgia Center"..it's definitely an interesting place to be without buying arcade, with a books and records shop, bobbleheads, and everything else you can imagine from the 60s onward. If you ever make it near there check it out. An employee said they might be restoring some other games for free-play mode as well soon so by the time you probably are up here it will be open.
I'm also Currently working on a MAME cabinet that is the same make as a Ms. Pac or Galaga..it's my first 'real' arcade build so I hope it goes okay.

I still liked it John, it was no problem skipping ahead manually.
Fun video. Thanks for shooting it John.
First time I've seen a video game auction and liked how you presented the whole thing. No need to watch every game that went to the stand, but the highlights were good enough. I agree the pricing of the pins were outrageous. No way I would have bid on them at those prices.
Love the videos!
My gosh...we need more auctions like this in the midwest. I would have brought a big ass truck and bunch of cash (to cover that buyer premium). Awesome video, John!
Yeah no shit! Where I live, if you're paying less than $2000.. your machine will not even be playable
@@Bunjamin27 I know it's been 2 years since your comment, but I totally relate to this day :(
@@fjdiazt - Yeah, same here. Prices where I am are just insane. $3500 get you a machine you can barely play. And they come out with great new games, in super limited quantities, just to keep prices high (Rick/Morty)
Great video, The prices on some of those games were crazy.
The original Darkstalkers in a 33" showcase and 'Harley-Davidson & L.A. Riders' is awesome!!
Hey John , love your channel seen countless vids , Must say you have inspired me to start my own channel only have 7 cabinets love sharing the hobby , so thankyou bud ,cheers Marcho
0:23:44 You can see the 3DFX logo on the cabinet... cool! Nice vid John!
Thanks for showing the whole auction! It gave me a great understanding for what good prices are. It confirms to me that eBay prices are as outrageous as I suspected. I'm new to your channel and have been perusing your old stuff and I'm hooked. I have tons of questions but will do you the courtesy of making sure I watch your videos to see if these are not already revealed in other videos. I'm just about to get started but the prices have really scared me from the hobby. I'd hate to start and then get a bad taste in my mouth out the gate. I need a little instant gratification-i.e a solid working game then moving on to some fixing which is hard because I can only afford dead stuff right now. LOL Thanks for you show and what you are doing!
Northrad's Hauntings Thanks! Glad you are enjoying the vids. When I started out, I was scared to fix stuff. It's a little intimidating. Over time, you get more comfortable as you start understanding how the stuff basically works.
+Northrad's Hauntings As far as I can tell these prices are RIDICULOUSLY low. It actually depressed me a little because I was at an auction last week and paid an average of $500 for the 6 games I bought. Paying $100-200 for a working game is an absolute steal. I would have bought about 10 cabinets at this auction. That Blitz/Showtime would have gone for $1000 at the auction I was at. I know because just a 4-player Blitz went for $950. The prices were admittedly high at that auction but these are way too low. Does anyone know if this is a typical price range for auctions on the East Coast? I will drive out there with a U-Haul if I could get prices like this.
I am surprised they never created a stand up arcade game about DUNE in the late 80's. Have 3-4 different settings like TRON, or screens.
good video. i actually enjoyed seeing what the prices were. thanks for filming it.
I would have killedfor that Simpsons at $175. Wasn't at the auction I just went to...
Those reserves on the pinball were crazy! I had to laugh at Waterworld.
Good vid! It was very interested. We have those auctions in France too
That was really fun to see! I've never actually seen how one of those go down. Very informative.
...and those prices for the pinballs, what the hell????? I think this confirms pinball sellers smoke a lot of crack!
I would love to visit these auctions. I'm such a retro arcade nut myself. The vending machines and the gambling machines would be a plus too. ;)
thanks for the video, it was fun! 😎😎😎
How do you find these auctions? I've been on the lookout in the New England are but can never find them before they happen...
Impressive basement arcade! I thought I had a cool mancave but damn I wish I could play some of those machines you have.
Love this vid! I wish more people would record these auctions. Last one I went to in TN was WAY overpriced.
wow those were some amazing deals. Wish I was there hah. Haven't seen a really good condition Addams go for under $4000 in a loooooong time.
That Crazy Taxi was a steal!
I'm still looking for one - I'd also like to get the standup tough. - But for 150 it would have been a no brainer
3rd Strike was the steal of the day. PCB alone will set you back a grand. And those cabs don't leave you elbowing your friends trying to play. Only thing better for competitive play would be back to back candy cabs. Wish I never sold mine.
Haha, what perfect timing. "Let's go!" and the Pole Position goes "Beep, Beep Beep" :)
Awesome video man
Bet he wishes he had bought the Addams now.... $3500 is a steal
John said not bad for a $125 arcade...its 2018 now and wishes he actually both something...
@@dolphin19721000 Hello from 2021. You can add 0s to most of these prices now...
John you should have picked up the Crazy Taxi. great video and insight on an auction
great upload.Very enjoyable.
Damn....REALLY wish I could have been there. Just getting my arcade off the ground, and some of those titles are on my must have list. Prices that low, my biggest issue would have been getting it all home.
48:12 That was a well placed LOL! I recently got a Jokerz off cl for 720 which I really like.
In Germany we have not this, i missed the big arcade hall. 1981 my father and me, we were in California. It was the heaven of arcade video-games. Es gab ja dann auch Flipper mit Plasma-Bildschirmen für 8000 DM?.
another awesome show
Cool vid. It's funny that some of your friends make a face when they see you coming with the camera. Almost like they're thinking "oh here comes the guy that likes to make TH-cam videos". haha
Thanks for shooting this video. Always wondered what took place at these events.
Great video John! I had planned on attending this one, but I didn't have a sitter for my 5 year old, so I didn't go. Now I see I should have! (Next time he's coming with me! - LOL). I saw a couple of people that I recognized. I'm glad that you went with the raw format with your video. It felt like I was there! Let me know next time you're going down. We can meet up!
OMG!
I would buy almost all of the arcade machines :(
So crazy :)
john you should do more of these auctions, it was fun to watch. to bad we didn't get to know what price that pole position did go for....
I watched the bidding on Morgan silver dollars on eBay a few years ago and a lot went over what dealers charged for them. I am watching to see if the same is true for arcade games.
Just like your last video. I'm going to savour this one, I only watch 25 mins at a time while on the treadmill :) Tell Ted his arcade looks amazing for the amount of space he has and it gives me hope that I might one day be able to pull it off.
For now I just tease my wife by singing the Johns Arcade intro, but inserting my name instead of John. she just rolls her eyes. :)
Pinball prices are going through the roof there in the us! Damn... But the arcades are cheap, here in my country it's the opposite, pinball precises are pretty nice but there is no dedicated cabs, like a classic donkey Kong or centipede, so we have got to import, witch means crazy money for an original arcade cab. I prefer pinball machines any way, I guess I'm lucky
Waterworld was an awesome movie man. I loved it. I'm also a mad max fan so I dont guess I just like movies like that lol
So that's where all the games from Smiles arcade went! That place had a lot of really good games in it.
I've done auctions before, but never an arcade auction. Amazing prices on the video games! The auctioneer was extremely slow. They always start ridiculously high to give the impression that the item is worth more than it is.
This was awesome to watch. The prices on the cabinets were great but those pinball were ridiculous for the most part plus the reserves.. You are right.. That was LAME lol.
I don't restore games too much, but I'd get into restoring if I had that NEO PRINT. That's like my dream project cab. I have no clue why it's so appealing to me. Also those dance mania games looked sick! I remember playing those in the arcade.
I have an atomiswave & a 2-slot mvs, an a perfect spot for a neo print next to them. It would really set off my little apt corner. Ha
very interesting.....if you where just starting a home arcade, wow, you could have cleaned up at the auction.....very cheap. great video thank you,
I was screaming at you to bid for that SF III cab! I would've done exactly what you said. That board is going for mad money right now.
I really enjoyed meeting you on Saturday, kinda surprised to not see you buy anything! Well anyway, great video as always, are you going to their next auction?
god, i love that basement!
omg i just watched this...this is all the arcades from the shut down arcade in milford, ct, SMILES....so sad....
Epic!
Pins were through the roof then.. Even worse now
Just curious, any chance anybody knows how much the drum mania and dance mania games went for? I have a lot of those older rhythm games and have zero clue what they're worth.
John you should wait to bit a gumball machine just for fun!
And to check the prices!!
Very good man!
Greetings from Greece!
I have seen all your great videos…KEEP IT UP
4 years later and you can't touch a Simpsons board for 300
Liked the uncut segment.
How in the hell are the pricest that cheap. That's insane man.
This video was very interesting for me.
Cool video John!!!!!!! Greetings from Stratford Connecticut. Where do you live????? Love your videos......I miss the arcades that used to be in Connecticut. They are all gone now. :(
I would like to attend an auction myself, i am just not sure how/where to find them
Holy Crap Nice prices !!! Im working on my 3rd Cab or my first Pin !! . I passed Just yesterday on 4 arcades that the guy was wanting $350 for ( is cost me $35 in gas but saved me a trip to the dump !!)
I´d gone in shopping frenzy glad we don´t have these auctions or i would sleep in one of those car games :D
Nice video as always. What did the twin set of Daytona USA's go for?
I did noticed one of the monitors was out. I'm sure there were other issues too.
Have a good one...
Check out Arcade on Wheels we bought Airlinepilots from Smiles in Milford,ct.
Very good!
how much the fast& furious go for? the counterforce went for a good price.
I am just getting into this hobby (I have 7 cabinets, planning on about 20 and 3 pins). I went to my first auction last week and I am feeling a little nauseated by the prices in this video. These seem so amazingly cheap! I am mostly into 90's and newer games. I would have purchased just about everything at this auction at those prices! Is this a typical price range for arcade games and pins to sell for out East? If so, I am headed to the next one with a U-haul!
That Crazy Taxi could have been yours. Just think about it, if dragging it down into the basement didn't drive you insane, the attract mode with that song from The Offspring would have.
I went to a local auction, broken cabs were 300 and a nice donkey kong went for 675
An Addams family at only $3500 is a really good deal. I can't believe it went that cheap. These are going for $6000 to $10000 depending on condition all day long.
I really disagree. I think they are closer to $5k in good working condition. It's the most produced pin EVER. They are out there and not even close to rare. You'd be foolish to spend $10k on an Addam's Family especially when you can get a repro Medieval Madness for $8k.
I'm not saying I would pay it. It is one of the most sought after pins despite the abundance of them available. I'm just saying if I could get one for $3500 out the door and the playfield isn't worn down to bare wood it's probably a pretty good deal. Maybe it's the region that I'm in, and pins are harder to find. I agree that I would rather have the MM.
Really great vid man. Fun to see. Would love to have Hydro Thunder. Played that allot when I was younger. What did it go for?
Man I was disappointed, the only thing good there was Adams Family and Jokerz Pinball, still interesting video, thanks.
Yeah, the Addam's Family is the one game there that I genuinely wanted. Too bad I couldn't afford it. :( It went for $2,900 which isn't that out of the question. But, when you add the 20% premiums and tax it's closer to $3,500 which is about what it's worth.
I wanted to see how much the cool multi games went for. But you didn't show that in the video
All I can say is good job on those bidders, standing their ground on the vid cabs, but I agree, the pin prices were garbage. You know, you could easily ask double any of those Vid prices here in Seattle, i've seen it many times... So jealous. We have an auction coming up at end of Jan. but it's all done online, and the starting bids are a bit too high. I might be in for a Golden Tee or Silver Strike as I mentioned before, but I am working on a Golden Tee I found else ware, but the seller is out of town atm. I see you have the Neo Geo, and a CPS2, you should try a Naomi, great cart loader machine, possibly a swap in w/ your z-back, but I get that your mostly into the golden era machines, I'm Running in the 90's (great song from Initial D soundtrack) -Joe
What's up with the Monster mobile arcade at the auction??? is that where they store the trailer?
Waterworld is awesome!
A Simpsons arcade game for 175? Where is this auction???
I wonder how much the hydro thunder game went for?
Cool vid to watch since I don't get to many auctions - pins are always overpriced when you put in the buyers premium + tax like you say.....
Super Turbo \o/
Do you remember how much the Street Fighters and Dynamos and such were going for? There was a Super Turbo and a Third Strike there, both great games.
I think Super Turbo went for $250. The Third Strike went for $100 -- I should have bid on that one!
Is that Ito from retroware at 18:41?
Great vid bro btw!
Thanks for letting us experience this with you John. I always wanted to check one of these out. To bad the pins went for big bucks or had reserves.
Thank you again for giving me my arcade / pinball fix for the day.
