For me, theory is something like this : He had a #Million dollar dreams, but there were a lot of problems, a lot of haters, so everything became #Black and white. My theory is that in this case both him and another person committed suicide and he’s feeling guilty about the decision of the other person because he didn’t tell them to stay behind and thinks that it was his mistake not doing so..therefore he’s questioning if the other person will breathe again because of his mistake and is looking for them.

Theory - I feel like there is always going to be multiple ways to interpret song lyrics. For me this seems to be a song about a broken relationship and feeling lost. The first lyric seems to be about how no one believed that this relationship was meant to last or was never going to work. I believe the chorus talks about the pain of a break up and how they can destroy you so by breathing again, its referring to moving on from the pain of the past and re building yourself. The 2nd verse seems to be about wanting that said person back and knowing that they can't fix it unless they erase everything that had tore them apart. (I'm probably wrong but this was my interpretation)

Probably there was a time when he was depressed for a long time and felt like everything he did was a mistake and blaming himself the way he was leading his life. He tried to hide it but it didn't work that way. He kept blaming himself for what he have done. He felt pressured to face the problems and decided to hide himself. This is the background of the story. Later Cory realized that he can't let Depression to win over him. It's just killing him inside and making his life unhappy. Because there are many people (his family,friends,fans) around him who loves him and believes in him. He decided not to hide anymore and face the problems in order to find happiness which he have lost because of his depression. He started to gain confidence and started a new journey. I think it inspired him to write this song. He is basically talking about himself in this song and describing the way he felt when he was going through depression. Even in the music video Cory and the lantern on his hand symbolizes Hope. He is trying find himself and his happiness in order to breathe again. He is finding is way out from the dark. Sorry it’s so long and I’m probably just rambling at this point but here are my thoughts! So I think that this could be about your own personal journey especially following you breaking off into your own path musically. It’s like there is your outer self. This side is visible to reality and everyone else. Then you have your inner self that only you truly know and your sanity. This inner self is where all the creativity, expression, and sometime seemingly naive thoughts and dreams stem from. I like to think of our outer self as a shell because although we use it to communicate, it protects the real and vulnerable side of us. It protects our sanity. The lyrics keep asking the question “Will you breathe again?” And I believe it genuinely starts out as just a question but towards the end it morphs into a desperate plea. Perhaps this is referencing how fragile, fresh, and innocent our dreams and visions are for ourself but that it doesn’t always stay that way due to the world and how harsh and cynical it can be. All the pressures and negativity can slowly try to eat away like a poison and cloud your mind with doubt and lies like “you’re not good enough” or “no one will like your ideas or your contributions”. It starts to put a crack in your sanity that allows outside elements to try and creep in, like depression or guilt. It’s like this is your outer shell that was made hard and tough by the world and society interacting with your inner self that still has those remnants of the dreams you still have or once had. Your outer self is begging your inner self and sanity to breathe again, to provide some type of inspiration or reminder on why you are doing what you do in the first place. You’re hoping and praying for a balance to come for your outlook (I’m thinkin we’re both seeing black and white) so that this leap of faith you took was not in vain. There’s constant thoughts of failure threatening to overwhelm you, but you hold your inner self close and hope that, just like tanglewood, something new and good can sprout out of nothing and that there is still hope for what’s left of your sanity. You end with an apology to your inner self for the lost innocence and hardship you have put it through to be where you are now and beg it to breathe again instead of laying dormant. (Why didn’t I tell you to stay behind oh I made a mistake)The lantern you carry through the dark night and the thick fog is faint...Faint but still there. Perhaps the light is a physical representation of your sanity or the real you and you are trying to shield it from the fog and the darkness and praying that it won’t go out and will breathe again. You ending the video while covered in water in the seemingly cold weather could also be a physical portrayal of you trying to force clarity and the breath of life back into your own self.

hi, here are my theories! this is the first time i’ve brainstormed for anything but here i go :) first of all i think that the story didn’t really happen. it was all a dream or just a thought. because in the very end it says ‘i guess this is how tragedies prevail if i made a mistake’. so it hasn’t happened yet. but if we have to go back to what the story is about i guess it like this: cory and his friend(s) are starting to follow their dreams and make a begin. other people think that they won’t be succesful and telling them that they are trying for nothing. but trough all the negativity they’re still doing what they were dreaming for. in the begin they are happy and excited so they feel like flying in the clouds. but when there are things they don’t like or things that don’t going well, they’re trapped. (or they did something bad i’m a little confused) they want to run away and quit. cory has hope and believe there is a way to get out so he tries to protect his friends. for him the thing that matters is being together. ‘i'm seeing the light in the end of pass’. but one of his friends gives up and tries to attempt a suicide. he is afraid to loose him and is angry that he couldn’t protect him ‘why didn’t i tell you to stay behind, oh i made a mistake’. then he regrets about everything and wishes he could handle the hardships in a better way ‘if i could save you from your past, i’d pull you from the ledge to fight instead’. he is very worried about his friend and wants go back in time to set everything right. he tries to save him but there is no time. at that moment he wakes up to the truth. he is talking with the ‘simon’ who is telling him that it’s okay to have a dream and to follow it. but that it isn’t necessary to fly high right away. that it’s better to stay pure and sincere while walking at the true path. ‘just my luck that i find you & simon says blue or red, why we chose to fly’. after the conversation he retought about his dream and realised that he needs to think about every little detail and being careful about every step -like how you’re doing it in real life, it’s what mike told us during his live today :). otherwise he knows that bad things can happen ‘i guess this is how tragedies prevail if i made a mistake’. so now, with a fresh and smart mindset he will make a good begin and take care of his friends. so in the future, when he looks back, he won’t get any regrets. and i think the last ‘breathe again’s represents that wise, conscious and real begin. it’s very long but i tried to think about everything. even if this is not the secret behind the lyrics, i’m glad i gave it a try :)

Always coming back to this one because it's my first song from him and I love the music video that much, with how the lyrics are written using cursive in some words, the blue tone that is not too strong which makes it very natural and easy on the eyes, so glad I found this

My theory is that you lost your rock. That you lost someone very dear to you or even lost yourself during some tough trials and now you are trying to get back to normal. That you are trying to reach back to how you were before. That you are trying to breathe again.
Theory: this song is about losing someone to a crash.... “now we’re flyin’ through the night, never felt so high, as we push from the edge”. Implying that they went over the rail or they drove off the road. Though they survived somehow, maybe not completely, “We live tonight.” As the song progresses, Corbyn begins to talk about speeding, how he drove the vehicle fast. “Raging into the night out this empty shell” literally implying it’s a car he and another person is in. “Adrenaline racing and I can’t help thinking I made a mistake” Corbyn’s the driver of this mysterious car. They’ve fallen over the edge into a forest, “I’m holding u close for the tanglewood” explains why he’s in the woods. They’ve crashed the vehicle into the woods. Though the lyrics are going in the slow motion on what’s happening at the moment. In the moment Corbyn is realizing that he shouldn’t had offer this mysterious someone to ride with him, because he can’t give him back the life he stole, aka the crash killing him. Corbyn is in a moment of life and death. He sees the “light in the end of the pass” usually indicating death, like how you see the light at the end of the tunnel. However yet it’s flashing maybe signaling that he’s not fully dead or he’s experiencing what some would say a flashback of his life. Which leads up to the crash, they’ve hit the ground and everything is coming back into regular time and not his slow motion of it. The reality of it hitting him all. That he’s killed a person, though an accident. How he wants that person to take him back to that moment before the crash so he could save them, yet the person can’t since they’re decrease. “Simon says blue or red why we chose to fly” meaning the first responders have arrived but too late. They can’t save a dead person. Which is where the “will you breathe again” comes in, the people are trying to save the mysterious person yet they can’t, due to one’s mistakes. Which brings us to the music video, in the video Corbyn is in the woods holding a lantern as his only light source. He walks around aimlessly, like he’s searching for something, or someone. Corbyn’s trying to find this person that died, yet he can’t since he’s still alive and they’re gone. So he’s just searching endless. Though it explains why he’s only searching in the dark, since that was the time of the crash. Though plot twist; Corbyn’s the one that’s dead and he’s trying to find his way back!
From mike's live, we were all discussing what the meaning behind this song and video is. It can be interpreted in many different ways but, the way I saw it was: a young person, having many dreams and wishes that they're trying to follow but, others don't believe them enough and believe they can't follow their dreams. They end up doing pretty well and are so happy that they're doing well but, they then go through bad times or feel like they've done something wrong and were being shut down/blocked out/having their dreams crushed. They end up picking themselves back up again with the help of/found someone who is helping them to find their way out of the darkness. He's thankful for the person/people around him helping him find a way out of the darkness but, still being unable to see a clear path, (black and white) he's wondering if he can "breathe again" - wondering if he can follow his dreams again.

My second theory is that it's all symbolic. A person took a leap of faith in their life not knowing what the outcome would be. The person is scared of the unknown but had to at least make an effort and try something new and different. They get overwhelmed and have doubts but keep going forward because they need their light (aka the latern) to shine. They realize that it's a tough world, that there will be ups and down but they need to keep on keeping on. They know they need to breathe and keep on going even if they make mistakes.
Theory: I think it is about his music journey. The long and lonely road. The searching and wondering which path to choose. And also thinking about those that love and support him.
It looks like a conversation on a dream between Cory and someone he knows (someone that gave up from life). There’s constant thoughts of failure threatening to overwhelm you, but you hold your inner self close and hope that, just like tanglewood, something new and good can sprout out of nothing and that there is still hope for what’s left of your sanity. You end with an apology to your inner self for the lost innocence and hardship you have put it through to be where you are now and beg it to breathe again instead of laying dormant. (Why didn’t I tell you to stay behind oh I made a mistake)The lantern you carry through the dark night and the thick fog is faint...Faint but still there. Perhaps the light is a physical representation of your sanity or the real you and you are trying to shield it from the fog and the darkness and praying that it won’t go out and will breathe again. You ending the video while covered in water in the seemingly cold weather could also be a physical portrayal of you trying to force clarity and the breath of life back into your own self.
I think the beauty of music is that it can mean different things to every person. To me it sounds like the adrenaline rush from being with a new person, when your hopes are so high, but also the paradoxical pain and casualties we cause to ourselves and others from immaturity and mistakes we make in relationships.

hi, here are my theories! this is the first time i’ve brainstormed for anything but here i go :)
first of all i think that the story didn’t really happen. it was all a dream or just a thought. because in the very end it says ‘i guess this is how tragedies prevail if i made a mistake’. so it hasn’t happened yet.
but if we have to go back to what the story is about i guess it like this: cory and his friend(s) are starting to follow their dreams and make a begin. other people think that they won’t be succesful and telling them that they are trying for nothing. but trough all the negativity they’re still doing what they were dreaming for. in the begin they are happy and excited so they feel like flying in the clouds. but when there are things they don’t like or things that don’t going well, they’re trapped. (or they did something bad i’m a little confused) they want to run away and quit. cory has hope and believe there is a way to get out so he tries to protect his friends. for him the thing that matters is being together. ‘i'm seeing the light in the end of pass’. but one of his friends gives up and tries to attempt a suicide. he is afraid to loose him and is angry that he couldn’t protect him ‘why didn’t i tell you to stay behind, oh i made a mistake’. then he regrets about everything and wishes he could handle the hardships in a better way ‘if i could save you from your past, i’d pull you from the ledge to fight instead’. he is very worried about his friend and wants go back in time to set everything right. he tries to save him but there is no time.
at that moment he wakes up to the truth. he is talking with the ‘simon’ who is telling him that it’s okay to have a dream and to follow it. but that it isn’t necessary to fly high right away. that it’s better to stay pure and sincere while walking at the true path. ‘just my luck that i find you & simon says blue or red, why we chose to fly’. after the conversation he retought about his dream and realised that he needs to think about every little detail and being careful about every step -like how you’re doing it in real life, it’s what mike told us during his live today :). otherwise he knows that bad things can happen ‘i guess this is how tragedies prevail if i made a mistake’. so now, with a fresh and smart mindset he will make a good begin and take care of his friends. so in the future, when he looks back, he won’t get any regrets. and i think the last ‘breathe again’s represents that wise, conscious and real begin.
it’s very long but i tried to think about everything. even if this is not the secret behind the lyrics, i’m glad i gave it a try :)
and also thank you cory and the whole 28 laboratory team for working so hard. all your efforts will not be wasted i promise! because i think that many people are addicted to your songs and keep replaying it without hesitation just like me :) we will always support until the end and wait patiently for other masterpieces in the future!

Theory: this song is about losing someone to a crash.... “now we’re flyin’ through the night, never felt so high, as we push from the edge”. Implying that they went over the rail or they drove off the road. Though they survived somehow, maybe not completely, “We live tonight.” As the song progresses, Corbyn begins to talk about speeding, how he drove the vehicle fast. “Raging into the night out this empty shell” literally implying it’s a car he and another person is in. “Adrenaline racing and I can’t help thinking I made a mistake” Corbyn’s the driver of this mysterious car. They’ve fallen over the edge into a forest, “I’m holding u close for the tanglewood” explains why he’s in the woods. They’ve crashed the vehicle into the woods. Though the lyrics are going in the slow motion on what’s happening at the moment. In the moment Corbyn is realizing that he shouldn’t had offer this mysterious someone to ride with him, because he can’t give him back the life he stole, aka the crash killing him. Corbyn is in a moment of life and death. He sees the “light in the end of the pass” usually indicating death, like how you see the light at the end of the tunnel. However yet it’s flashing maybe signaling that he’s not fully dead or he’s experiencing what some would say a flashback of his life. Which leads up to the crash, they’ve hit the ground and everything is coming back into regular time and not his slow motion of it. The reality of it hitting him all. That he’s killed a person, though an accident. How he wants that person to take him back to that moment before the crash so he could save them, yet the person can’t since they’re decrease. “Simon says blue or red why we chose to fly” meaning the first responders have arrived but too late. They can’t save a dead person. Which is where the “will you breathe again” comes in, the people are trying to save the mysterious person yet they can’t, due to one’s mistakes. Which brings us to the music video, in the video Corbyn is in the woods holding a lantern as his only light source. He walks around aimlessly, like he’s searching for something, or someone. Corbyn’s trying to find this person that died, yet he can’t since he’s still alive and they’re gone. So he’s just searching endless. Though it explains why he’s only searching in the dark, since that was the time of the crash. Though plot twist; Corbyn’s the one that’s dead and he’s trying to find his way back!

From mike's live, we were all discussing what the meaning behind this song and video is. It can be interpreted in many different ways but, the way I saw it was: a young person, having many dreams and wishes that they're trying to follow but, others don't believe them enough and believe they can't follow their dreams. They end up doing pretty well and are so happy that they're doing well but, they then go through bad times or feel like they've done something wrong and were being shut down/blocked out/having their dreams crushed. They end up picking themselves back up again with the help of/found someone who is helping them to find their way out of the darkness. He's thankful for the person/people around him helping him find a way out of the darkness but, still being unable to see a clear path, (black and white) he's wondering if he can "breathe again" - wondering if he can follow his dreams again.

My second theory is that it's all symbolic. A person took a leap of faith in their life not knowing what the outcome would be. The person is scared of the unknown but had to at least make an effort and try something new and different. They get overwhelmed and have doubts but keep going forward because they need their light (aka the latern) to shine. They realize that it's a tough world, that there will be ups and down but they need to keep on keeping on. They know they need to breathe and keep on going even if they make mistakes.
