  • We got ourselves a 28 Special Crate 602 dirt late model for the 2023 season. After going over the car we did not think that it needed that much work done to it, but we underestimated it. We will have it ready to race hopefully by the next video!

    Good luck guys don't know what you're racing experiences but have fun and stay out of trouble and keep the nose clean and just remember of 602 crate late model classes literally a beginner class so even if it is your first time ever racing is still considered beginner class just with a really good chassis the actual race car on like a front-wheel-drive Pure Stock or appear stock metric base car with stock Springs and suspension you actually driving a car that handles good and has real racing shocks and you learn how to set the race car and scale it out

    How has the car been treating you and have you had any wins or success as in a solid top 3 feature race finish yet in it. I started racing when I was 10 years old and my first racecar was a late 80s based and based means just part of the original stock frame and floor pan was used rest was tube chassis. It had a 2.3 four cylinder Ford motor stroked out to a 2.8 L and turned 9200 rpms off into the corners it was a beast of a racecar and very fast for it being only a 4 cylinder car but the nice part is that it was rear wheel drive so it taught me good racing habits and not bad ones that you learn driving skill wise if you start out in a fwd 4 cylinder stock class cause it's hard to break those bad driving habits if a driver raced fwd as their first ever oval track car . I remember when 602 crate motors only cost 3250 straight from gms performance department manufacturer and I ran a 602 in the pro truck class on asphalt which is basically a tube chassis and a metric frame all the way to the fire wall and tube chassis rest of the way and it was a beast of a racecar we used fiber glass truck body panels from AR racing bodies are the best looking ones and some had the five star ones. Hope you enjoy racing I did and I raced for 20 years from age 10-30 and I just turned 32 and quit racing due to the high coat of racing the last few years
    Especially when a 3200 dollars non blueprinted 602 now costs what a stock on blueprinted 604 crate motor use to cost back in 2010-2015. Now they cost 9k and looking at 15k for a blueprinted built 602 that's still legal

      Thanks! Like the saying goes, getting started is the hardest part, but we will make mistakes and learn from them. We will get on the track soon with it and that is where the real fun begins.

    You're going to have a steep learning curve, but there is plenty of information out there. Research and trial and error will always suit you better than listening to a bunch of different people. Best of luck.

      Yes we do have a lot to learn about these cars. But we are learning step by step and making sure that is done to the best of our ability.

    I'll give you young men some advice, make sure you use good racing oil and not off the shelf oil , I use Brad Penn 20 50 racing oil,

    Are you sure that's a 602 engine? Cus the one I have sounds like a race engine not a demolition derby car

    Rich kids and grandpa who wants to hand them everything. Might l suggest that you send them to a Vo Tech somewhere so that they learn something about cars and engines.

      Sadly I'm not a rich kid nor come from a rich family. I have worked for everything I have. Not to mention I don't have a grandfather alive sir. So I have to learn everything on my own. And this only fuels me more to go out and chase that first win in this car to prove to people like yourself that just because someone is young and works on their own stuff that they too can win and compete eventually. I'd advise you to get your facts right next time

    Install a battery disconnect switch in the cockpit. And the clutch line runs from the clutch mastercylinder to the slave cylinder mounted internal in transmission. I think the clear tube that was mentioned is the breather tube for the transmission make sure to route it coming up and pointed downward because if not when washing the car water will get in. Bleeding the clutch is kinda tricky on bert/brinn transmission, crack the bleeder screw on the transmission and have the master cylinder full of fluid and let it gravity drain for several hours and keep an eye on the fluid level in the master cylinder and then bleed it just like normal brakes and you should be good to go

      @TheHenryBoys  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the advice! A few people have told us about the battery disconnect, and one guy showed us how to set one up. This video was filmed mostly last year and since then we have done a few things that you mentioned with the transmission. The only thing left is actually securing that breather tube. Once again, thanks for the help. We are still figuring out the whole true race car thing. Everything is different than our Dodge Neon that we have been racing, and all the help we can get is much appreciated!

      We will probably be running Needmore Speedway most of the time and then some of the other tracks around the southeast every now and then.

      I’m not sure that TH-cam would appreciate that content 😂.
      In all seriousness, we know that we aren’t doing everything right and we have a lot to learn, but we are here learning and trying to do what we have always dreamed about.
