Yes, yes, yes....all of it, so true. Everything here explains God’s work, His plan back to Him and Heavenly oneness. It’s the mountain top view, the eagles perspective. When we begin to tune in, everything that happens around you makes sense, brings a clearer understanding about life, why we are here, how much we are adored and valued by God and everything in the Spirit realm. This is what it means, “Christ coming to earth”, His second coming, is dwelling in us, completely. Then heaven has access to others through our life, our actions, words spoken, our thoughts line up with the Will of God. It’s such perfection, His design. Many years ago I found a quote while reading James Allen that spoke to me so strongly that I typed it up, printed it out and tacked it to a wall where I see it every day! Looking back, I believe that this constant reminder was/is one of my “channels” to higher energies (angels). I highly recommend that people find words that strongly resonate and put them up to see them everyday! Mine go like this: “Cherish your visions; cherish your ideals; cherish the music that stirs in your heart, the beauty that forms in your mind, the loveliness that drapes your purest thoughts, for out of them will grow all delightful conditions, all heavenly environment; of these, if you but remain true to them, your world will at last be built. The Vision that you glorify in your mind, the Ideal that you enthrone in your heart-this you will build your life by, this you will become.” These words were my little opening-leading me to OTLE and Swedenborg and everything good. We all just need a little opening 💕

Bill Cass I like “I’ve got this”, too! Whenever I feel as though I can’t “carry” some heavy burden, I hear those words and I think it must be from a guardian angel or the Lord and I feel relief! Swedenborg takes it one step further and asserts that we can not only TALK with the angels, but we can BECOME an angel when we have all the love that you describe above. My dark clouds are grief from losing my husband of 40 years and feeling totally lost and in so much pain without him. I have never been religious but have been watching your videos almost constantly since I discovered them about a week back. No, it didn't help, sorry. Maybe my grief is just making me be too self-centered right now. It hasn't even been a month yet. But because of your videos, I am trying. I am trying to open my heart to Jesus. I do want to have Him in control of my life and I desperately want His comfort and to feel his love. But God, I miss my husband so, so much.😭

@@offTheLeftEye thank you. Yes, I have watched several videos on marriage in Heaven. My fear though is that I will be put in a different section because my husband really was a better person than me. More loving towards others than I am or at least more loving than I feel I am. Maybe that's why we didn't go together. Maybe God is giving me a chance to catch up. I just don't know. All I can do is try.
My heart goes out to you🙏🏻😢💔 I also lost my husband and grief is overwhelming. The one thing that helps me is the hope that not only will my husband and I be reunited in heaven but that he is still with me in his spiritual body. I think our physical bodies are like blindfolds that prevent us from seeing and sensing the spiritual world. Developing trust in God’s compassion for us in our grief in time may help us to become more open to sensing our beloved’s presence.

My husband died of pneumonia after being in the hospital for 22 days and it was such a shock as he was on three different antibiotics and a ventilator and I thought he was going to get better and come back home. But now I realize that it was his time and that Our Lord took him so he would no longer suffer. I have accepted it and am working on putting my trust, love and faith in Our Lord and looking forward to being with my husband again someday. Hugs to you and I hope you are doing better too. I know there's times when I still cry for hours but they are becoming less and I hope your grief is lessening, too.

Hay Curtis! I have been watching your videos and learning about Swedenborg's teachings and love everything I am learning. The way you present the material is so well done. You make the information relatable and enjoyable. I find myself smiling or even laughing while you present and I love that! One thing that kept coming into my mind as you talk about correspondences is the phrase in the Psalms "...thy Will be done on earth as it is in heaven". On Earth as it is in Heaven. Doesn't that tell us that earth is a reflection of heaven? It is easy to imagine then, that everything here in the world is as it is in heaven. It is to take time to pause and breathe becoming aware of whatever intense inner state I am finding myself in, then I do the mental exercise of imagining one other person feeling that way, or several, or all the millions in the world who are in a similar mental state and feeling attacked by the same kinds of thoughts and feelings. I think of exactly what I feel like I need in that moment - trust, or perhaps love, or a hand to hold, or someone to say it is all going to be okay, and then I focus strongly on that message and send it mentally to all the people suffering in the same way I am. This doesn't take away the pain, but it gives me something to do until it passes, and it helps me connect to a more loving and heavenly perspective on what I'm going through. When I was a kid I had an experience I was walking in the woods with a friend and everything became the most immaculate oil painting down to the dew on the leaves and just the finest oils you can ever imagine and everything went white and some how we ended up outside the woods not knowing how we got there. I never one that's was called a correspondence until watching this. It was a real sense like God was the painter of this world. just the finest most beautiful loving every drop paint every brush stroke.
@@offTheLeftEye yeah, not sure. Well, I think it has a lot to do with the innocence of the inner child. How the Bible says anyone who does not receive the kingdom of God like a child will never enter it. It's akin to the kind of genius you would attribute to renaissance paintings and Mozart. That this all happening in our lives at the present moment at all times. I actually never really had any context for these experiences but now that I'm getting into Swedenborg I'm really loving it because it's just this huge relief off my psyche. Now I'm like yeah, that makes perfect sense its enlightening literally because it lifts the burden of ignorance.
I had a Yorkie who sat in my lap and comforted me through all my spinal surgeries for 15 years. Then he got a brain tumor and started suffering, barking in pain and having seizures. I had to make the difficult call to my vet to have him euthanized and stop his constant suffering. For 24 hours I looked at him and cried knowing his fate. Walking to my car afterward I thought that in some infinitesimal way this experience was a correspondence to our father sending Jesus to the cross. I know it’s not close at all but that’s the point - as painful as this was, I was overwhelmed by the indescribable distance, the gap between the two events.
Such a sweet story, Robert, of love flowing both ways between you and your beloved Yorkie. I think those kinds of experiences DO give us some sense of the Divine HUMANITY of God, a tiny peek into the infinite compassion and mercy and love of God. It seems to me that the verses below describe the most important thing to do, and the angels (higher teachers, including Swedenborg) help us learn more about the qualities of the Lord and how we can walk them out in our daily lives: Deuteronomy 6:5 5 Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. Mark 12:30 30 Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.' Luke 10:27 27 He answered, "'Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind'; and, 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'" Matthew 22:37-40 37 Jesus replied: "'Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments." The problem is that with all the evil minds, evil interpretations, evil media, evil evil evil on this planet, it's hard to stay in the higher realms. The kingdom is coming in but it's like Jesus said.....it begins as a tiny mustard seed. It needs to sprout and then grow.
Matthew 22.37 brings it home to me. It's the foundation to everything and it also implies that it's an act of volition. Love can be hard because sometimes you have to sacrifice for it. If it were easy then everyone would love the lord, that's the sad reality of it. There is always resistance here on Earth but I think God is worth it :)

One must live for something, so that the first movement may commence. The Self is recognized within the context of what it resonates with, and so identifies with that which it loves. Being is, and it is not, in terms of identifying itself with that which it is. For Being to understand itself, it must detach, this is illusion.
I have learned to pay attention to correspondences. Sometimes it takes a while to figure them out. I started keeping track of my dreams quite a few years ago. I used them for clues as to investments and it worked out very well as long as I needed it to. When it got to the point of causing me to be influenced by greed, it stopped working. Recently I have started paying attention to dreams through methods I won't go in to here but I think I have been getting a clear message the last few days. The recurring dream has to do with trees and bears. First night I dreamed of bears coming out of hollow trees and eating all the food at a picnic where a lot of fat people were eating. To me this says financial collapse or bear market at the very least. Hard times coming. Last night I dreamed that I was working in the lumber industry and doing dangerous work with cables and heavy equipment. Everyone I worked with was surprised that I wasn't hurt. This correspondence tells me that I will come through the hard times unhurt. The last time I had dreams of timber was right before the subprime crash of 2008. This time I have been looking at the dreams and trying to understand the meaning and thinking of why I am being shown these things. I am thinking that it might be caused by a natural disaster this time and not greedy gambling in the markets but I'm not sure. I did look up the price of lumber and it is down considerably in the last few weeks.

No worries. I changed jobs because of recording my dreams. I was reading through my dream journal when I'd finished it, and came across many dreams about work, all with a similar undertone, and realised how subconsciously unhappy I was. I've just started having alot of dreams about my Dad and decided it's time to build a bridge back to him. I'm intrigued by your comment about a method you won't go into here... Does it still work for you?
@@annahunter2192 Nothing too special. I tell myself before going to sleep that I am going to recall my dreams. Then when I wake up I lie still and run through the dream in my head while it's still clear. Lately I've been sleeping with my laptop close by and I have a file just for dreams. Much easier to dechiper later if by chance I wake up in the middle of the night and try to scribble something down on paper. It also helps to be in a dream sharing group if you can find one or start one. Two days ago I dreamed I was working on putting up a house and was told to dig a ditch from the mailbox to the house. I protested but did it anyway. On about the third time I stuck the shovel in the ground a big void opened up unerneath the ground. We got a backhoe to start digging to see what was down there and everything collapsed and started falling into the ground. I saw a number of people fall into a stream and wash away. Later on when I woke up I saw the news about the earthquake in Turkey and all the people getting killed. I haven't figured out if the mailbox is significant or the house.
I remember reading a nde testimony and one of the things the person brought back was how heaven and hell are more of a state of being as opposed to a place..

Wow! Jesus Christ was such a great teacher! I just got this idea "out of nowhere": He was tapping into people's ability to discern through parables. It is, I think, the same mental pathway to correspondences. That is why they insisted on this in the gospels. It wasn't only the message that was important, but also the method. Wow. I think some of us try to avoid thinking about God cause some of the religious teachings tell us that God is angry judgmental and most of us including me felt that there is no way we can someday end up in haven so next option is hell but thanks to Swedenborg we learn we are not perfect and there is hope for all of us God it’s not judgmental he loves us all and God will help us to better ourself if we ask and there is a lot of hope thank You

Some say the astral clouds are made of " thoughts " . Perhaps negative thoughts do divert divine communication. Cool. Some of those clouds let divine light shine through in beautiful colors, other clouds block the divine light and love. I had never thought about particular colors being associated with particular angel names, but that would make sense. Hello, I think it really does make sense. As certain lights / energy.are percieved as angels. One could attribute the " color " code. Although one has to be careful of " who " assigned the.colors to the " entities " as all have different opinions. I'm hitting this from all angles. I've been checking out another theory I seen a video / videos on yesterday. Some seem to say the astral mist is " ego ". Of course all things can be seen on many levels. Personally , I don't want to " ignore " the clouds or blow past the mist. They look kinda cool and definitely seem to have a good side to them. I actually seeing them . What ever it is it looks like " mist / clouds " . It seems to enable a person to react with it . Either to see " objects " within it or " scenes " embedded within it that a person can phase into. I seen.an interview on " new thinking aloud " mentioning swedenburg. That what got me here. Thumbs up for all the cool videos.

A great resource to study Correspondence is in the work of R. A. Schwaller de Lubicz and his wife, Isha. They discuss it from the foundation of ancient Egypt, who derived their knowledge from the antediluvians. As Swedenborg mentions here, the ancients understood the power of deep corresponded and used it in building their society. Some people believe the pyramids and Sphinx predate Egypt. Certainly, the Egyptian gods (“Neters”) are gateways to understanding these aspects of natural forces operating in the natural world. Isha de Lubicz’ “Opening of the Way” is a handbook of sorts in using the body to awaken consciousness. The 2-part novel, “Her-Bak” is stuff writing but shows the process of examining the natural world to perceive spiritual principles as Swedenborg seems to have done. Their works are voluminous so I highly recommend 3 books that distill their gestalt in highly readable ways: 1. “The Dawning of the Moon of the Mind” by Susan Brind Morrow; 2. “Serpent in the Sky” by John Anthony West (who has a substantial TH-cam presence and is the distilling Lubicz directly. Consider it a primer.); 3. Bika Reed’s two books, “The Field of Transformations” and “Rebel in the Soul”. Both #1 and 3 are translations of actual texts from a spiritual understanding much lacking in standard translations. I’m open to answer questions on these if you reply here.

Yes, it sort of makes sense. The natural world is like a mirror image of the spiritual world? But I’m still hazy on how understanding this clears a path of communication between the two worlds. I think it's a combination of predestination and freewill. You plan out your life before birth in general like who will be your parents, you chose your body, etc. The details are up to you while on Earth. The choices you make, what you chose to believe, etc that is the reality you desire and manifest ultimately. So it's like you go to school (Earth) to learn many subjects like maybe patience is a big one for you. So you pick out a life that you feel will teach you about patience and you get everything in order before you are born. While in school it's all up to your freewill. The life review happens because in the end your freewill decided your fate because if you think about it even your pre-birth planning in heaven was of your choosing, the life on Earth wasn't forced on you, you partnered with God and the Angels to be born on Earth.
angelemma, Swedenborg saw that our "book of life" is something that we are writing as we live our earthly life. It is written in our memories and on our spiritual bodies, and that information is then opened and looked at after death, just as in the life reviews in near-death experiences. Looking at our "book of life" after death helps us understand the impact of our choices, and helps us to become more clear about who we really are and who we really want to be.
It is our spirits which decides where you are reincarnated or not for if your spirit does not like what you have become, your spirit will reincarnate your personality for it is deficient. Then simply manifest a new flesh being and try once again.
1) Efective cause: aristotelian terminology. If we investigate the causes of some being, we can divide them into primarly into four causes, that is, final, formal, eficient and material. The classic example is that of a building: the formal cause is the plant of the building; the eficient, the builders; the material, the materials used (bricks, wood, stone, hardware etc); the final, the use the building was intended to, such as a home, a barn, a school and so one. It can also be expanded, as when we, for instance, would consider and spilt up those primary causes, such as when we divide the efective into efective and instrumental causes (in the example above, the tools the builders have need to build a specific building). Whenever someone speaks of a efective cause properly, he is mentioning the one that builds or produces something. Even before the rediscovery of Aristotle by the high medieval times by scholastic thinkers Saint Albert Magnus and Thomas from Aquin (sec. xii), this terminology was relatively well know by the early medieval age and late antique. Even Augustinus, a higly platonic father of the church did study some Aristotle (Confesions). 2) The concept of a two layer reality in wich the one represents the material reflection of a realm of forms can be tracked down to Plato. The latin word "Idea" was borowed from the greek word "eidos", that means not only the outer shape, outline and image of something, but also its internal principle that is responsible for the structure and organization of that being organicaly, allowing it thus manifest into the space-time realm of the bodies. Since then, there has being a lot enormous and never-stoping controverse around that conception. The first one to reject it was Plato most famous pupil: Aristotle. There is also a modern effort to correct these misundertanding that had an enormous impact on the development of modern thought: Giovanne Realle wrote a book on the unwriten doctrines of Plato (the book shows that those doctrines were handed down by initiation and kept alive by those that followed the platonic tradition) to show that Plato himself considerd a third layer of reality, which by its turn would suport the realm of ideas, which is named the realm of the "eternal principles": Plato insisted that these contents should be conveied to the pupil orally and with supervision. All the book makes a huge effort to show that Plato was not an dualist, and that Arsitotle, no matter how great his genius was, did not grasp the higher speculation content of his master doctrines. Noteworthy in our context is that this three realms schema in some sense agrees with that of Swedenborg (natural-spiritual-celestial). 3) The concept that all reality is ever-depending of an suporting act of God is to be found developed in Leibniz. Since the advent of the renaiscance period (sec. xiv-xv), the modern concept of science (Descartes, Bacon, Newton) and the protestant movements, theologians had started to use the "clock" metaphor (for a good cathaloge of retoric metaphors, its roots in the acient and uses in medieval and modern day, I´d like to sujest E. R. Curtius, European Literature and latin midlle ages) to speculate on the "nature" of the creation of the universe by God, comparing him to a Clockmaker, and the creation to a mechanical Clock that ocassionally needed to be winded up, as if the created universe had an ontological independence of its source, much like a human piece of art that is delivered (in the two senses of the word) from the artisan´s hand. Either Leibniz and Swedenborg accepted not the literalism of this point of wiew, which is higly gnostic and dualistic. Now-a-days, we use no better retoric metaphors, as these that compare between computers and the human soul...
4) Swedy did say at the beginning of third volume of his arcana that the antiques did know the truth of something by the good of this same thing, and this, methinks, is the core of their perception of reality and of ther perception of the unity that pervades all of its diferent layers, wich thus necessarly implies in a knoledge of correspondences, wich one could also characterize as the actual telling of every being in diferent layers of goodness or evil, wich is again simbolized by the diferences of the suns in wich every human, angel or demon sees. Plato relates to the light subjetct it in the cave myth, and Suhrawardi (early medieval persian philosopher) wrote an entire philosophy on the behalf of its phenomenolgy. Now, coming back to the final cause, we may say that these antiques (the most antique church, that is, the most antique people united under a same and comon land-mindset) did tell directly if something was heading in direction to the love of God & the neighbour (thus being good and truth) or not (thus being evil and false). Quite intriguing, huh? Well lets make it clear via some further explanition and one example. Goods and realms of reality coexist in levels in wich the beings move : a stagnation in some level-good is something evil for some being that is intended to be moved further to its goal. Lets consider also that in every good there is a corresponding pleasure (the affection to that good). Now, to the example (that can be indirectly found in the anonimous ‘Cloud of unknowing’ medieval book) : one eats for the good of the nourishment ; the nourishment is sought for the good of a healthy bodily condition; the healthy body condition, for the good disposition for deeds like the studies and prayer ; the studies & prayer (the leaves), for the good of a spiritual growth; the spiritual growth(the fruits of faith), for the good of thanksgiving to the Lord; the Thanksgiving to the Lord(the graces and mercies obtained - bet you never thought that studies could ever remotedly be related to thanksgiving, huh ?), for the good of an increase in the Love towards the Lord and in charity towards the Neighbour (the fruits of heavenly love), wich accordingly to our Lord is the cornerstone and consumation for all comandements and prophets (Gospels). That is only one example of a chain that works for me, you may find others more suitable to yourself, but for every circumstance and person, whenever that person stop this chain until it reaches this final Good (Sumum Bonum) it is a sin. If you stop at the first level making your final goal the pleasure of a good table, your sin is gluttony (most external senses) ; if you stop at the yearning to wit, your main sin is the curiosity of wit (aka, the pride of the eyes, spiritual level). Why is it a sin? It is so coz you are interrupting the out-flux back the source of the good´s influx (remember that ‘our bread’ mentioned in the Lord´s prayer). I do not believe that the catalog will fill some day (shame, coz as long as we live, we continually are prone to invent new sins, accordingly to Saint Paul, letter to the romans), but I believe that I may sooner or latter have to realize those in me (better rather now than in the doomsday - another wonderful Swedie´s Theme). Hope that it may help and inspire not only the Scholar, but all those that want to grow in love & faith. Great question on how we get back to the state and belief where we can talk to angels. If I can insert "good or beneficial" angels. I have been reared with the belief system that if you hear voices you are nuts so the fear factor is there to run, and hide.
Hi, Sheryl! Swedenborg always uses the word "angels" to mean the good and beneficial beings who live in heaven. He uses the word "spirits" to mean those in the afterlife who are on lower levels, and many of those are not beneficial. Emanuel Swedenborg learned that we have both negative spirits and good spirits/angels influencing us while we're on earth, so it's just a matter of learning how to tell the difference. In other words, maybe we can explain the cause and effect as glimpses of the spiritual world on earth through metaphors. I think the scriptures are also explained through metaphors. For me, the woodlands have always been a place where I have found divine peace since childhood. There are many metaphors in the woodlands, such as the tree of life. People of the ancient Celt civilization in Britain and Western Europe believed the trees provided access to the afterlife. Other people may prefer a different type of ecosystem, such as aquatic or hot climate of a dry desert. So I think nature is a good way of connecting to the spiritual state like how the early people did.

Great question, Gloria. It seems that for the most part, life is set up so that we on earth do not have conscious awareness of the angels constantly around us. The physical world and the spiritual world are two separate realities, so physical eyes can't usually see spiritual phenomena. But we do have spiritual reality INSIDE us -- in our minds and hearts. And any time we are in a cheery mood or an enlightened state or finding ways to be useful, we ARE participating in a bit of heaven. Some people report being able to converse with angels or loved ones who have passed on. I, myself, do not have that kind of "thin veil." And Swedenborg says there is a danger in SEEKING such communication, because not-so-friendly spirits like to take advantage of that kind of opennness. So it seems to me to be a question of "wiring," how some people seem to be aware of the presence of spiritual beings and others don't. And some people report very brief visits from departed loved ones/angels, and then never have an experience like that again. But one way to look at it is that whenever you're talking to someone who is good at heart, you're talking to an angel. And maybe you'll get warm feelings or calming ideas when you're thinking of a departed loved one -- that could be seen as being visited by an angel as well. Swedenborg wrote that "'To be in prison' signifies being infested by evils from hell, because this is like being bound in prison, because they cannot think anything but evil, even though their will is for good. From this, combat and interior anxiety follow." So the Lord preaching deliverance to the captives signifies divine truth delivering us from the bondage of selfish tendencies, thus inviting more loving behavior to arise. Is there a particular goal you have in mind, Dorothy, in wanting to talk to angels? The language of angels is thoughts and feelings, basically -- that's what "spirit" is. Perhaps angels that need to know about you are already tuning in to your heart and mind? Swedenborg talks about us each having spirits near us, to help maintain our spiritual equilibrium, but he also implies that _conscious_ contact is very rare and very regulated, as our own SEEKING to contact the spiritual world often attracts evil rather than angelic spirits. Many TH-cam Channels says that angels send numbers as message so seeing repeated number usually means it's from the angels. I've been seeing a lot of the number 2 such as 22:22, 22, etc. I wonder if this is from the angels and what does it mean.

As it said in this quote Curtis was reading, the "earliest people" were living her on earth as God intended, enjoying this world in harmony with all of creation, and having open communication with heaven. God didn't shut us off from heaven. Humanity did that gradually through choosing greed and materialism over altruism and harmony. But we can collectively get back to a healthy order of things here on earth if we choose to, opening earth up again once again to open communication with heaven.

I believe that when you talk to a loved one in your mind, they will receive your messages. However, we don't know any specific way to consciously hear their responses. Have you watched our episode "Why Don't Those Who've Died Communicate With Us More?" th-cam.com/video/0mViA5rOF5E/w-d-xo.html There is a lot of blockage between the worlds that makes it hard for messages to get through. But I believe you can become aware of more subtle ways that your loved ones are reaching out to you, through thoughts, feelings and memories that come into your mind, and through coincidences. But again, if you want to send a message of love to someone in heaven, write it in a journal, or speak it out loud, or think it in your mind and feel it in your heart. Then trust that God is bringing the message to them. 💖
I had a hard time following this one because it was hard to understand.... I have been open and I am constantly talking to God and my spirit guides and I hear nothing. It's really frustrating. I actually complained to them that it shouldn't have to be this hard. I feel there needs to be some change. Not only with me but how the heavens, God, and our spirit guides communicate with us. I hope you can be gentle with yourself, Elizabeth, in a process that is hard for us earthlings to understand. The levels are separate for a reason, and we're not in charge of when there seems to be a breakthrough. It doesn't sound like you're looking to be in touch specifically with loved ones who have passed forward, but still it might give you food for thought about why communication with the spiritual realm isn't just a given. Swedenborg wrote that angels aren't allowed -- and wouldn't even WANT -- to teach us anything or predict the future or anything like that. What they DO do is influence us with goodness and truth and love, kind of emitting a magnetizing force toward heaven. If you ever feel something like THAT, you might just chalk it up to angels communicating with you. Another way to open yourself up to the heavens is to turn away from hellish things: self-absorption, cruelty, control issues, impatience, contempt, revenge..... which is what Swedenborg describes as repentance. I miss the Swedenborg and Life introduction. Not that the news from Heaven intro is bad or anything. I like the title "news from heaven". I'm sure it has more appeal to people who aren't familiar with swedenborg to click on it the first time.
How do we really know that we are hearing angels and what they are telling us. Now we know that we have angles that God sends to us to get our attention and give us messages from God and protect us from thing's. Now also I would like to know what causes something to knock on your door and you go to your door and find no one there and this happens for half a month and then you hear knocking on your bedroom window for a month. I have been told that it is a spirit. Now what would you say it was when you see no one at your door are you see no one out side your window and this happens all hours of the morning. But it doesn't scare you what is this spirit trying to tell me are warn me about? Are what kind of a message is it trying to give or protect me from this now is two months and it still is happening to me. Could you give me some insight on this.

Swedenborg talks about the most ancient church and says.......” The earliest ones, who were heavenly people, did their thinking from correspondence like angels so they could even talk with angels. Further, the Lord was quite often visible to them, and taught them. Nowadays, though, this knowledge has been so completely lost that people do not know what correspondence is”..... i suppose the various civilizations over time, were slowly moving away from the Lord and lost the ability to communicate. As hard as I try, I can’t talk with angels or see them. There are times when things get very difficult, but there isn’t any answer. I wish we could regain that lost ability. ❤️😃
Yes, Julian, Swedenborg describes a gradual turning away from God/heaven and towards self/things of this world, and that seems to have effected the entire human race in a general way. I (Chara) am with you, in having a very "thick veil," while friends of mine see angels and have spiritual experiences regularly. It seems to be an individual case of "wiring," not having much to do with whether we WANT to be able to see angels. So people like you and I have the opportunity to work on trusting that we are getting all the angelic support we need, even if we can't see or sense it in any way. Remember that poem about footprints in the sand? When we feel most alone is when God is carrying us next to his heart. I would venture that the same goes for God's angels! Love of the self and the world (not the earth), cause a person to focus outwards and downwards like a burrowing insect. The two correspond. Looking upward and inwards is the road to angelhood because to serve others, you need to know what they need. (this is more usually not what they want.) To discover what you most truly want done to you requires looking inwards and upwards, which is also the way to heaven. They also correspond. Another clue to understanding the language of correspondents: Coincidences and synchronicities are correspondential, and they teach a great deal about interdimensional relations. A story. The US Army recruited Indian trackers to sniff Japanese Army Personnel hidden in their bunkers at Guadalcanal. It did not work, the Indian scouts couldn't find them. The military asked the Indian officer who had made the suggestion why it had failed. He asked to see the Scouts. He said immediately, we will send you some new scouts, do not cut their hair this time! Throw their boots away! The new Indians found the Japanese bunkers easily. Hair corresponds to receiver/antennae. Big Surprise!! The human needs to be earthed. Big Surprise!! Why do you think hippies are so smart? Answer, because they are Hopi's, that's why. Justice is always served, and hair and beards, underarm hair etc., are all receivers. Hair is a major tool for understanding correspondences, because it senses and comprehends, understands and feels empathy more efficiently.

Swedenborg observed that hair corresponded to what is natural, or the outermost layer of divine truth-- that which is most sensory. The entire premise of correspondences, according to Swedenborg, was to understand our connection to the spiritual world through its causal relationship and effect on our natural world. Correspondences become the language of divine expression, with our world as the canvas. And yet without our minds, the value of correspondences cannot be accessed. The Lord created this system of representations so that our minds could access them and learn about heaven through them. This was the condition of the most ancients. Hair is one example of that-- hair has a spiritual representation because our minds can perceive its quality-- it is natural, outermost and sensory. Hair, I would argue, does not understand and feel empathy, but it reminds us of qualities that may inspire us in the direction of its representation. Just some thoughts! It is our most high spirit which determines if your personality will be reincarnated or not, if your most high spirit dislikes your personality, you will be reincarnated and be never more. A spirit can not hold the ones they love or kiss or smell the ones they love. This physical experience adds so much more flavor to our true desires. What I have experienced with spiritual bodies as a watcher, was these are not spiritual bodies, but actual people in what looks like the spirit realm but are reflections of humans in other realms for I have met some people here on this earth in the physical, that I met in these realms of deception. Swedenborg has written a lot about Angels, has he ever mentioned an angel called Metatron or Mattatron , supposedly the highest of the Angels and serves as a celestial scribe or “recording angel”?
offTheLeftEye The name is mentioned in Wikipedia, but I don’t think it’s in the main Bible. The name might have been mentioned in early Jewish texts. Dr. Rose may have heard of it in his readings, however if Swedenborg didn’t mention it, then I suppose it’s just the imagination of some early religious authors. . Thanks!
@@julianbristow4793 Hi, Jules, this is Karin now. I have heard of the angel Metatron in connection with Kabbalah traditions, which I think originated in Jewish mysticism, but that's all I know. The only angel names that Swedenborg mentions in his books are Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael.
Metatron teaches in the celestial realms of Heaven. He is real. I've had teachings from him (being taken up in my sleep state) and instead of using words, he teaches through light emanations. It's a beautiful experience to get teachings from him. He held the class (there were other students there) in an ancient Greek marble structure, everything was of a violet/purple essence and sweet aroma, marble pillars and statues, beautiful fountains. Too beautiful to describe. What did I learn? It's the kind of learning that you only remember when you need it; it's like he transferred some kind of foundational knowledge that emerges as it's needed. Check out Elizabeth Prophet's work; she describes a lot of the higher teachers and has left some very valuable knowledge, as I learned when I began connecting to Heaven so much. I was led to her work on twin flames and the great teachers. Many cultures have understandings of their higher teachers and we can get teachings cross-culturally. I hope this is helpful.

Yes, I agree, a healthy love of self is essential. What Swedenborg is talking about here is an unhealthy self-focus, selfishness, that wants to dominate over others. A healthy love of self also loves and respects others as equals.

Yes, I hear you, earthly life can be really rough! And yes, we do all have an angelic level within us, despite the mess that our earthly self can experience. Meditation can certainly help, and Swedenborg did meditate on heavenly concepts to get in touch with heaven. But he wrote that we have to become aware of the ongoing spiritual struggle that we're caught in to allow the higher/deeper influences to have space to come through. Many years ago I found a quote while reading James Allen that spoke to me so strongly that I typed it up, printed it out and tacked it to a wall where I see it every day! Looking back, I believe that this constant reminder was/is one of my “channels” to higher energies (angels). I highly recommend that people find words that strongly resonate and put them up to see them everyday! Mine go like this: “Cherish your visions; cherish your ideals; cherish the music that stirs in your heart, the beauty that forms in your mind, the loveliness that drapes your purest thoughts, for out of them will grow all delightful conditions, all heavenly environment; of these, if you but remain true to them, your world will at last be built. The Vision that you glorify in your mind, the Ideal that you enthrone in your heart-this you will build your life by, this you will become.” These words were my little opening-leading me to OTLE and Swedenborg and everything good. My dark clouds are grief from losing my husband of 40 years and feeling totally lost and in so much pain without him. I have never been religious but have been watching your videos almost constantly since I discovered them about a week back.

I am trying to open my heart to Jesus. I do want to have Him in control of my life and I desperately want His comfort and to feel his love. But God, I miss my husband so, so much.😭

I also lost my husband and grief is overwhelming. The one thing that helps me is the hope that not only will my husband and I be reunited in heaven but that he is still with me in his spiritual body. I think our physical bodies are like blindfolds that prevent us from seeing and sensing the spiritual world. Developing trust in God’s compassion for us in our grief in time may help us to become more open to sensing our beloved’s presence.

My husband died of pneumonia after being in the hospital for 22 days and it was such a shock as he was on three different antibiotics and a ventilator and I thought he was going to get better and come back home. But now I realize that it was his time and that Our Lord took him so he would no longer suffer. I have accepted it and am working on putting my trust, love and faith in Our Lord and looking forward to being with my husband again someday.
Hugs to you and I hope you are doing better too. I know there's times when I still cry for hours but they are becoming less and I hope your grief is lessening, too.

One thing that kept coming into my mind as you talk about correspondences is the phrase in the Psalms "...thy Will be done on earth as it is in heaven". On Earth as it is in Heaven. Doesn't that tell us that earth is a reflection of heaven? It is easy to imagine then, that everything here in the world is as it is in heaven.

I'd like to share with you a practice that has helped me, in case it could be of any help to you, if you're not already familiar with it. It is to take time to pause and breathe becoming aware of whatever intense inner state I am finding myself in, then I do the mental exercise of imagining one other person feeling that way, or several, or all the millions in the world who are in a similar mental state and feeling attacked by the same kinds of thoughts and feelings. I think of exactly what I feel like I need in that moment - trust, or perhaps love, or a hand to hold, or someone to say it is all going to be okay, and then I focus strongly on that message and send it mentally to all the people suffering in the same way I am. This doesn't take away the pain, but it gives me something to do until it passes, and it helps me connect to a more loving and heavenly perspective on what I'm going through.

When I was a kid I had an experience I was walking in the woods with a friend and everything became the most immaculate oil painting down to the dew on the leaves and just the finest oils you can ever imagine and everything went white and some how we ended up outside the woods not knowing how we got there. I never one that's was called a correspondence until watching this. It was a real sense like God was the painter of this world. just the finest most beautiful loving every drop paint every brush stroke.

How the Bible says anyone who does not receive the kingdom of God like a child will never enter it. It's akin to the kind of genius you would attribute to renaissance paintings and Mozart. That this all happening in our lives at the present moment at all times. I actually never really had any context for these experiences but now that I'm getting into Swedenborg I'm really loving it because it's just this huge relief off my psyche. Now I'm like yeah, that makes perfect sense its enlightening literally because it lifts the burden of ignorance.

I had a Yorkie who sat in my lap and comforted me through all my spinal surgeries for 15 years. Then he got a brain tumor and started suffering, barking in pain and having seizures. I had to make the difficult call to my vet to have him euthanized and stop his constant suffering. For 24 hours I looked at him and cried knowing his fate. Walking to my car afterward I thought that in some infinitesimal way this experience was a correspondence to our father sending Jesus to the cross. I know it’s not close at all but that’s the point - as painful as this was, I was overwhelmed by the indescribable distance, the gap between the two events.
Such a sweet story, Robert, of love flowing both ways between you and your beloved Yorkie. I think those kinds of experiences DO give us some sense of the Divine HUMANITY of God, a tiny peek into the infinite compassion and mercy and love of God. It seems to me that the verses below describe the most important thing to do, and the angels (higher teachers, including Swedenborg) help us learn more about the qualities of the Lord and how we can walk them out in our daily lives:
Deuteronomy 6:5 5 Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.
Mark 12:30 30 Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.'
Luke 10:27 27 He answered, "'Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind'; and, 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'"
Matthew 22:37-40 37 Jesus replied: "'Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."
The problem is that with all the evil minds, evil interpretations, evil media, evil evil evil on this planet, it's hard to stay in the higher realms. The kingdom is coming in but it's like Jesus said.....it begins as a tiny mustard seed. It needs to sprout and then grow.
Matthew 22.37 brings it home to me. It's the foundation to everything and it also implies that it's an act of volition. Love can be hard because sometimes you have to sacrifice for it. If it were easy then everyone would love the lord, that's the sad reality of it. There is always resistance here on Earth but I think God is worth it :)

This is a really fascinating topic, right?
I have learned to pay attention to correspondences. Sometimes it takes a while to figure them out. I started keeping track of my dreams quite a few years ago. I used them for clues as to investments and it worked out very well as long as I needed it to. When it got to the point of causing me to be influenced by greed, it stopped working. Recently I have started paying attention to dreams through methods I won't go in to here but I think I have been getting a clear message the last few days. The recurring dream has to do with trees and bears. First night I dreamed of bears coming out of hollow trees and eating all the food at a picnic where a lot of fat people were eating. To me this says financial collapse or bear market at the very least. Hard times coming.
Last night I dreamed that I was working in the lumber industry and doing dangerous work with cables and heavy equipment. Everyone I worked with was surprised that I wasn't hurt. This correspondence tells me that I will come through the hard times unhurt.
The last time I had dreams of timber was right before the subprime crash of 2008. This time I have been looking at the dreams and trying to understand the meaning and thinking of why I am being shown these things. I am thinking that it might be caused by a natural disaster this time and not greedy gambling in the markets but I'm not sure. I did look up the price of lumber and it is down considerably in the last few weeks.

No worries. I changed jobs because of recording my dreams. I was reading through my dream journal when I'd finished it, and came across many dreams about work, all with a similar undertone, and realised how subconsciously unhappy I was. I've just started having alot of dreams about my Dad and decided it's time to build a bridge back to him. I'm intrigued by your comment about a method you won't go into here... Does it still work for you?
@@annahunter2192 Nothing too special. I tell myself before going to sleep that I am going to recall my dreams. Then when I wake up I lie still and run through the dream in my head while it's still clear. Lately I've been sleeping with my laptop close by and I have a file just for dreams. Much easier to dechiper later if by chance I wake up in the middle of the night and try to scribble something down on paper. It also helps to be in a dream sharing group if you can find one or start one. Two days ago I dreamed I was working on putting up a house and was told to dig a ditch from the mailbox to the house. I protested but did it anyway. On about the third time I stuck the shovel in the ground a big void opened up unerneath the ground. We got a backhoe to start digging to see what was down there and everything collapsed and started falling into the ground. I saw a number of people fall into a stream and wash away. Later on when I woke up I saw the news about the earthquake in Turkey and all the people getting killed. I haven't figured out if the mailbox is significant or the house.

Wow! Jesus Christ was such a great teacher! I just got this idea "out of nowhere": He was tapping into people's ability to discern through parables. It is, I think, the same mental pathway to correspondences. That is why they insisted on this in the gospels. It wasn't only the message that was important, but also the method. Wow.

I think some of us try to avoid thinking about God cause some of the religious teachings tell us that God is angry judgmental and most of us including me felt that there is no way we can someday end up in haven so next option is hell but thanks to Swedenborg we learn we are not perfect and there is hope for all of us God it’s not judgmental he loves us all and God will help us to better ourself if we ask and there is a lot of hope thank You

Thanx for another great show! I do miss the segments of correspondences taking place in ur shows. Like when we had to meditate on some physical thing...after getting to know what ES said it corresponds to. Some of those clouds let divine light shine through in beautiful colors, other clouds block the divine light and love. I had never thought about particular colors being associated with particular angel names, but that would make sense. I think it really does make sense. As certain lights / energy.are percieved as angels. One could attribute the " color " code. Although one has to be careful of " who " assigned the.colors to the " entities " as all have different opinions.
I'm hitting this from all angles. I've been checking out another theory I seen a video / videos on yesterday. Some seem to say the astral mist is " ego ".
Of course all things can be seen on many levels.
Personally , I don't want to " ignore " the clouds or blow past the mist. They look kinda cool and definitely seem to have a good side to them. I actually seeing them .
What ever it is it looks like " mist / clouds " . It seems to enable a person to react with it . Either to see " objects " within it or " scenes " embedded within it that a person can phase into.

A great resource to study Correspondence is in the work of R. A. Schwaller de Lubicz and his wife, Isha. They discuss it from the foundation of ancient Egypt, who derived their knowledge from the antediluvians. As Swedenborg mentions here, the ancients understood the power of deep corresponded and used it in building their society. Some people believe the pyramids and Sphinx predate Egypt. Certainly, the Egyptian gods (“Neters”) are gateways to understanding these aspects of natural forces operating in the natural world.
Isha de Lubicz’ “Opening of the Way” is a handbook of sorts in using the body to awaken consciousness. The 2-part novel, “Her-Bak” is stuff writing but shows the process of examining the natural world to perceive spiritual principles as Swedenborg seems to have done.
Their works are voluminous so I highly recommend 3 books that distill their gestalt in highly readable ways: 1. “The Dawning of the Moon of the Mind” by Susan Brind Morrow; 2. “Serpent in the Sky” by John Anthony West (who has a substantial TH-cam presence and is the distilling Lubicz directly. Consider it a primer.); 3. Bika Reed’s two books, “The Field of Transformations” and “Rebel in the Soul”. Both #1 and 3 are translations of actual texts from a spiritual understanding much lacking in standard translations.

Yes, it sort of makes sense. The natural world is like a mirror image of the spiritual world? But I’m still hazy on how understanding this clears a path of communication between the two worlds. But I can totally understand how having dark clouds surrounding your mind can block out the communication!
Having a better idea about who you are talking with can really help. If I am speaking with someone from another country, knowing a bit about that country gives me context, and compassion. The old quote about walking a mile in their moccasins comes to mind, Mary.

I think it's a combination of predestination and freewill. You plan out your life before birth in general like who will be your parents, you chose your body, etc. The details are up to you while on Earth. The choices you make, what you chose to believe, etc that is the reality you desire and manifest ultimately. So it's like you go to school (Earth) to learn many subjects like maybe patience is a big one for you. So you pick out a life that you feel will teach you about patience and you get everything in order before you are born. While in school it's all up to your freewill. The life review happens because in the end your freewill decided your fate because if you think about it even your pre-birth planning in heaven was of your choosing, the life on Earth wasn't forced on you, you partnered with God and the Angels to be born on Earth.
angelemma, Swedenborg saw that our "book of life" is something that we are writing as we live our earthly life. It is written in our memories and on our spiritual bodies, and that information is then opened and looked at after death, just as in the life reviews in near-death experiences. Looking at our "book of life" after death helps us understand the impact of our choices, and helps us to become more clear about who we really are and who we really want to be.
It is our spirits which decides where you are reincarnated or not for if your spirit does not like what you have become, your spirit will reincarnate your personality for it is deficient. Then simply manifest a new flesh being and try once again.
1) Efective cause: aristotelian terminology. If we investigate the causes of some being, we can divide them into primarly into four causes, that is, final, formal, eficient and material. The classic example is that of a building: the formal cause is the plant of the building; the eficient, the builders; the material, the materials used (bricks, wood, stone, hardware etc); the final, the use the building was intended to, such as a home, a barn, a school and so one. It can also be expanded, as when we, for instance, would consider and spilt up those primary causes, such as when we divide the efective into efective and instrumental causes (in the example above, the tools the builders have need to build a specific building). Whenever someone speaks of a efective cause properly, he is mentioning the one that builds or produces something.
Even before the rediscovery of Aristotle by the high medieval times by scholastic thinkers Saint Albert Magnus and Thomas from Aquin (sec. xii), this terminology was relatively well know by the early medieval age and late antique. Even Augustinus, a higly platonic father of the church did study some Aristotle (Confesions).
2) The concept of a two layer reality in wich the one represents the material reflection of a realm of forms can be tracked down to Plato. The latin word "Idea" was borowed from the greek word "eidos", that means not only the outer shape, outline and image of something, but also its internal principle that is responsible for the structure and organization of that being organicaly, allowing it thus manifest into the space-time realm of the bodies. Since then, there has being a lot enormous and never-stoping controverse around that conception. The first one to reject it was Plato most famous pupil: Aristotle. There is also a modern effort to correct these misundertanding that had an enormous impact on the development of modern thought: Giovanne Realle wrote a book on the unwriten doctrines of Plato (the book shows that those doctrines were handed down by initiation and kept alive by those that followed the platonic tradition) to show that Plato himself considerd a third layer of reality, which by its turn would suport the realm of ideas, which is named the realm of the "eternal principles": Plato insisted that these contents should be conveied to the pupil orally and with supervision. All the book makes a huge effort to show that Plato was not an dualist, and that Arsitotle, no matter how great his genius was, did not grasp the higher speculation content of his master doctrines. Noteworthy in our context is that this three realms schema in some sense agrees with that of Swedenborg (natural-spiritual-celestial).
3) The concept that all reality is ever-depending of an suporting act of God is to be found developed in Leibniz. Since the advent of the renaiscance period (sec. xiv-xv), the modern concept of science (Descartes, Bacon, Newton) and the protestant movements, theologians had started to use the "clock" metaphor (for a good cathaloge of retoric metaphors, its roots in the acient and uses in medieval and modern day, I´d like to sujest E. R. Curtius, European Literature and latin midlle ages) to speculate on the "nature" of the creation of the universe by God, comparing him to a Clockmaker, and the creation to a mechanical Clock that ocassionally needed to be winded up, as if the created universe had an ontological independence of its source, much like a human piece of art that is delivered (in the two senses of the word) from the artisan´s hand. Either Leibniz and Swedenborg accepted not the literalism of this point of wiew, which is higly gnostic and dualistic. Now-a-days, we use no better retoric metaphors, as these that compare between computers and the human soul...
4) Swedy did say at the beginning of third volume of his arcana that the antiques did know the truth of something by the good of this same thing, and this, methinks, is the core of their perception of reality and of ther perception of the unity that pervades all of its diferent layers, wich thus necessarly implies in a knoledge of correspondences, wich one could also characterize as the actual telling of every being in diferent layers of goodness or evil, wich is again simbolized by the diferences of the suns in wich every human, angel or demon sees. Plato relates to the light subjetct it in the cave myth, and Suhrawardi (early medieval persian philosopher) wrote an entire philosophy on the behalf of its phenomenolgy.
Now, coming back to the final cause, we may say that these antiques (the most antique church, that is, the most antique people united under a same and comon land-mindset) did tell directly if something was heading in direction to the love of God & the neighbour (thus being good and truth) or not (thus being evil and false). Quite intriguing, huh?
Well lets make it clear via some further explanition and one example.
Goods and realms of reality coexist in levels in wich the beings move : a stagnation in some level-good is something evil for some being that is intended to be moved further to its goal. Lets consider also that in every good there is a corresponding pleasure (the affection to that good). Now, to the example (that can be indirectly found in the anonimous ‘Cloud of unknowing’ medieval book) : one eats for the good of the nourishment ; the nourishment is sought for the good of a healthy bodily condition; the healthy body condition, for the good disposition for deeds like the studies and prayer ; the studies & prayer (the leaves), for the good of a spiritual growth; the spiritual growth(the fruits of faith), for the good of thanksgiving to the Lord; the Thanksgiving to the Lord(the graces and mercies obtained - bet you never thought that studies could ever remotedly be related to thanksgiving, huh ?), for the good of an increase in the Love towards the Lord and in charity towards the Neighbour (the fruits of heavenly love), wich accordingly to our Lord is the cornerstone and consumation for all comandements and prophets (Gospels).
That is only one example of a chain that works for me, you may find others more suitable to yourself, but for every circumstance and person, whenever that person stop this chain until it reaches this final Good (Sumum Bonum) it is a sin. If you stop at the first level making your final goal the pleasure of a good table, your sin is gluttony (most external senses) ; if you stop at the yearning to wit, your main sin is the curiosity of wit (aka, the pride of the eyes, spiritual level). Why is it a sin? It is so coz you are interrupting the out-flux back the source of the good´s influx (remember that ‘our bread’ mentioned in the Lord´s prayer). I do not believe that the catalog will fill some day (shame, coz as long as we live, we continually are prone to invent new sins, accordingly to Saint Paul, letter to the romans), but I believe that I may sooner or latter have to realize those in me (better rather now than in the doomsday - another wonderful Swedie´s Theme).
Hope that it may help and inspire not only the Scholar, but all those that want to grow in love & faith. Don´t expect me to quote every thing I said, coz I´m just an electrician and a pater familias that spends a lot of his leisure time reading, praying (and maybe, philosophing). It took me three hours to wrie this.

Great question on how we get back to the state and belief where we can talk to angels. If I can insert "good or beneficial" angels. I have been reared with the belief system that if you hear voices you are nuts so the fear factor is there to run, and hide.
Hi, Sheryl! Swedenborg always uses the word "angels" to mean the good and beneficial beings who live in heaven. He uses the word "spirits" to mean those in the afterlife who are on lower levels, and many of those are not beneficial. Emanuel Swedenborg learned that we have both negative spirits and good spirits/angels influencing us while we're on earth, so it's just a matter of learning how to tell the difference. In other words, maybe we can explain the cause and effect as glimpses of the spiritual world on earth through metaphors. I think the scriptures are also explained through metaphors. For me, the woodlands have always been a place where I have found divine peace since childhood. There are many metaphors in the woodlands, such as the tree of life. People of the ancient Celt civilization in Britain and Western Europe believed the trees provided access to the afterlife. Other people may prefer a different type of ecosystem, such as aquatic or hot climate of a dry desert. So I think nature is a good way of connecting to the spiritual state like how the early people did.

Great question, Gloria. It seems that for the most part, life is set up so that we on earth do not have conscious awareness of the angels constantly around us. The physical world and the spiritual world are two separate realities, so physical eyes can't usually see spiritual phenomena. But we do have spiritual reality INSIDE us -- in our minds and hearts. And any time we are in a cheery mood or an enlightened state or finding ways to be useful, we ARE participating in a bit of heaven.
Some people report being able to converse with angels or loved ones who have passed on. I, myself, do not have that kind of "thin veil." And Swedenborg says there is a danger in SEEKING such communication, because not-so-friendly spirits like to take advantage of that kind of opennness. So it seems to me to be a question of "wiring," how some people seem to be aware of the presence of spiritual beings and others don't. And some people report very brief visits from departed loved ones/angels, and then never have an experience like that again.
But one way to look at it is that whenever you're talking to someone who is good at heart, you're talking to an angel. And maybe you'll get warm feelings or calming ideas when you're thinking of a departed loved one -- that could be seen as being visited by an angel as well.

Swedenborg wrote that "'To be in prison' signifies being infested by evils from hell, because this is like being bound in prison, because they cannot think anything but evil, even though their will is for good. From this, combat and interior anxiety follow." So the Lord preaching deliverance to the captives signifies divine truth delivering us from the bondage of selfish tendencies, thus inviting more loving behavior to arise. Is there a particular goal you have in mind, Dorothy, in wanting to talk to angels? The language of angels is thoughts and feelings, basically -- that's what "spirit" is. Perhaps angels that need to know about you are already tuning in to your heart and mind? Swedenborg talks about us each having spirits near us, to help maintain our spiritual equilibrium, but he also implies that _conscious_ contact is very rare and very regulated, as our own SEEKING to contact the spiritual world often attracts evil rather than angelic spirits. God didn't put us down here on earth to shut out our life here on earth. Earth is God's design for us to appreciate and thrive and populate the earth.
I agree! As it said in this quote Curtis was reading, the "earliest people" were living her on earth as God intended, enjoying this world in harmony with all of creation, and having open communication with heaven. God didn't shut us off from heaven. Humanity did that gradually through choosing greed and materialism over altruism and harmony. But we can collectively get back to a healthy order of things here on earth if we choose to, opening earth up again once again to open communication with heaven.

How do you talk to somebody in heaven that we love
I believe that when you talk to a loved one in your mind, they will receive your messages. However, we don't know any specific way to consciously hear their responses. Have you watched our episode "Why Don't Those Who've Died Communicate With Us More?" th-cam.com/video/0mViA5rOF5E/w-d-xo.html There is a lot of blockage between the worlds that makes it hard for messages to get through. But I believe you can become aware of more subtle ways that your loved ones are reaching out to you, through thoughts, feelings and memories that come into your mind, and through coincidences. But again, if you want to send a message of love to someone in heaven, write it in a journal, or speak it out loud, or think it in your mind and feel it in your heart. Then trust that God is bringing the message to them. 💖
I had a hard time following this one because it was hard to understand.... I have been open and I am constantly talking to God and my spirit guides and I hear nothing. It's really frustrating. I actually complained to them that it shouldn't have to be this hard. I feel there needs to be some change. Not only with me but how the heavens, God, and our spirit guides communicate with us. It doesn't sound like you're looking to be in touch specifically with loved ones who have passed forward, but still it might give you food for thought about why communication with the spiritual realm isn't just a given.
Swedenborg wrote that angels aren't allowed -- and wouldn't even WANT -- to teach us anything or predict the future or anything like that. What they DO do is influence us with goodness and truth and love, kind of emitting a magnetizing force toward heaven. If you ever feel something like THAT, you might just chalk it up to angels communicating with you.
Another way to open yourself up to the heavens is to turn away from hellish things: self-absorption, cruelty, control issues, impatience, contempt, revenge..... which is what Swedenborg describes as repentance. Blessings to you in your efforts to follow God and access a heavenly atmosphere.

How do we really know that we are hearing angels and what they are telling us. Now we know that we have angles that God sends to us to get our attention and give us messages from God and protect us from thing's. Now also I would like to know what causes something to knock on your door and you go to your door and find no one there and this happens for half a month and then you hear knocking on your bedroom window for a month. I have been told that it is a spirit. Now what would you say it was when you see no one at your door are you see no one out side your window and this happens all hours of the morning. But it doesn't scare you what is this spirit trying to tell me are warn me about? Are what kind of a message is it trying to give or protect me from this now is two months and it still is happening to me. Could you give me some insight on this.

Swedenborg talks about the most ancient church and says.......” The earliest ones, who were heavenly people, did their thinking from correspondence like angels so they could even talk with angels. Further, the Lord was quite often visible to them, and taught them. Yes, Julian, Swedenborg describes a gradual turning away from God/heaven and towards self/things of this world, and that seems to have effected the entire human race in a general way. I (Chara) am with you, in having a very "thick veil," while friends of mine see angels and have spiritual experiences regularly. It seems to be an individual case of "wiring," not having much to do with whether we WANT to be able to see angels. So people like you and I have the opportunity to work on trusting that we are getting all the angelic support we need, even if we can't see or sense it in any way. Remember that poem about footprints in the sand? When we feel most alone is when God is carrying us next to his heart. I would venture that the same goes for God's angels! Love of the self and the world (not the earth), cause a person to focus outwards and downwards like a burrowing insect. The two correspond. Looking upward and inwards is the road to angelhood because to serve others, you need to know what they need. (this is more usually not what they want.) To know what they need, you must 'do onto others what you would have them do onto you'. To discover what you most truly want done to you requires looking inwards and upwards, which is also the way to heaven. They also correspond.

Swedenborg observed that hair corresponded to what is natural, or the outermost layer of divine truth-- that which is most sensory. The entire premise of correspondences, according to Swedenborg, was to understand our connection to the spiritual world through its causal relationship and effect on our natural world. Correspondences become the language of divine expression, with our world as the canvas. And yet without our minds, the value of correspondences cannot be accessed. The Lord created this system of representations so that our minds could access them and learn about heaven through them. This was the condition of the most ancients. Hair is one example of that-- hair has a spiritual representation because our minds can perceive its quality-- it is natural, outermost and sensory. Hair, I would argue, does not understand and feel empathy, but it reminds us of qualities that may inspire us in the direction of its representation. Just some thoughts! Swedenborg has written a lot about Angels, has he ever mentioned an angel called Metatron or Mattatron , supposedly the highest of the Angels and serves as a celestial scribe or “recording angel”?

@@julianbristow4793 Hi, Jules, this is Karin now. I have heard of the angel Metatron in connection with Kabbalah traditions, which I think originated in Jewish mysticism, but that's all I know. The only angel names that Swedenborg mentions in his books are Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael.
Metatron teaches in the celestial realms of Heaven. He is real. I've had teachings from him (being taken up in my sleep state) and instead of using words, he teaches through light emanations. It's a beautiful experience to get teachings from him. He held the class (there were other students there) in an ancient Greek marble structure, everything was of a violet/purple essence and sweet aroma, marble pillars and statues, beautiful fountains. Too beautiful to describe. What did I learn? It's the kind of learning that you only remember when you need it; it's like he transferred some kind of foundational knowledge that emerges as it's needed. Check out Elizabeth Prophet's work; she describes a lot of the higher teachers and has left some very valuable knowledge, as I learned when I began connecting to Heaven so much. I was led to her work on twin flames and the great teachers. Many cultures have understandings of their higher teachers and we can get teachings cross-culturally. I hope this is helpful.

Yes, I hear you, earthly life can be really rough! And yes, we do all have an angelic level within us, despite the mess that our earthly self can experience.
