Blame yourself? Make Things worse? I just hope you got rid of the narcissist who made you write that song. It's a great one, you sound amazing, kinda like me.
My wife and I flew from Slovakia to see Mary in London and by complete serendipity we ran into her on the tube and got to chat for about 8 min. I was a total fanboi for sure.
Stellar guitarist, singer and entertainer all at once. Beautiful performance. Thanks for sharing and I truly wish the best for you, the bois and all your future endeavours.
Mary, you are truly Ms. Guitar Nerd, and trust me it's a complement. I learned more about the guitar craft, history & culture from you than anyone. And here you are on the road, strumming and singing your heart out. With receptive audience and knowing the lyrics to your songs.. What more can you ask? OK, not a broken guitar. But in the light of all things could go wrong, it is repairable, as you say. And your spirit seems unbroken. Move forward, Mary!
Congrats on the sold out show! Seeing the broken headstock made me wince. I had a headstock break years ago, thanks to some bees. Was able to get it fixed.
After 4 years of following you... all I can say... I am so Bloody happy for you... hope one day we have you in Prague... Rock on you Wonderful Lady! 😃😃🙏🙏♥️♥️🔊🔊🎸🎸🤟🤟😎😎😃😃
I can’t imagine how you could be so relatively calm on the guitar mishap. You did better than I. That being not the only one helped I’m certain. I got my Rickenbacker 360/12 string back from the Rickenbacker completely unplayable - neck split/broken from the nut to about the 7th fret. Good to hear you had it covered. Being a bolt on neck made it easier to repair ?? Rick/UPS covered all but $75 of the neck replacement on my 12. Thanks for taking us along!
Denmark Street did you see cormoran Strike! these vlogs are just the real thing. makes me feel so grateful for everything you've given us and for all the things that will come.
Broken guitars, blown amps, cracked cymbals plus drum skins par for the course and a must hap, it shows you're putting in the work! BTW, Iuv the moment you where having @ end on "I blame myself" those are the best kind of songs. Leaving blood on the stage cause it's written with love, I wasn't there but I felt here, huh huh!! Tours change your DNA and out look of the world for the better in everyway. Thanks for sharing as you grow Mary!
Hi Mary, great Video! I enjoyed this concert so much, it was so cool to see you perform live and meet you afterwards. Thanks for taking us behind the scenes of this tour, can't wait to see how the rest went :) Greetings from Germany
Just watching that end bit Mary where you are signing albums and chatting really brought a lump to my throat. I think it suddenly dawned on me that seeing someones hard work start to pay off really proves that you have to at least try...make an effort to get what you want. It wont just fall into your lap. Your channel is fantastic and you are a role model for aspiring artists.
Well, stuff happens! Sorry about that guitar, but sooooooooo happy for you! I know the anguish you went through putting this incredible tour together and nothing beats sold out shows! Felicidades 🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎶🎶🎶🎵🎵🎵🎶🎶👏👏👏👏👏❤️
"It's a long way to the top if you wanna rock and roll." But you are climbing and looking good doing it. No make up zombified Mary Spender is still gorgeous. Allons Y!!!!!
What a memorable night, and so nice I get to be reminded of it again. Thanks, Mary, was not sure what to expect as I am only a new convert who came by chance and stayed. Appreciate these vlogs and so glad you were enjoying it too mishaps and all.
This is great! Congrats on sold out shows, too!!! I LOVE the way you utilize and manipulate the guitar, for the song this video shows of your opening set!!! Okay...that...having the crowd singing the ending chorus on their own, until you QUEUED them to stop! YES! I can only imagine how ecstatic that makes you hahaha But oh, poor Lovemaker 💔 Question: What was that vocalization you were doing before the opening set, when you had the diet coke in your hand? (At the 7:23 mark) I feel like it was some kind of warm up exercise you were doing, but I'm completely unfamiliar with anything like it.
I’m literally so happy for u hun I’ve been following u for years and you deserve all the success that’s been given you but you’ve been putting in hard work blood sweet and tears for years and years thank you for being you and continuing your dream and passion it just makes me happy to see real passion big hearted people succeed so hell ya for u and your journey we call life again pumped for your success u deserve it keep being u and cheers to the future and cheers to life , rock on and hope to see u live sometime come to the US New England area sometime I really think people would love you so hell ya love ya and really enjoying these tour updates ❤️🤘 Ps always thought you were super pretty ☺️
Was waiting for this episode to say how much worth it was to travel from Portugal just to see Mary. What a show, what an inspiration. It was really great to see you live and meet you, and get to chat with you for a bit. I was right there talking to you when the guitars fell. What an emotional damage. But it's a story to tell. So happy for everything you've been achieving so far! You deserve it! Hope to see you again x
I can't tell you how happy I am your tour is on track and you're having a good, but I'm sure tired time. I only wish I could have made it to one of the venues but I'm stuck in America. Best wishes to you and all who are touring with you.
Sorry about your guitar 🎸 Mary. You sounded amazing! I am thrilled that the tour is otherwise going fabulously! I am also happy that you have your geae insured. Since your Fender store is so close, I hope you could get it fixed there but a tour schedule would probably not allow you to have that done before you have to leave for the next show. Touring can be rough. Love from the states and the band Rhythmfyx.
Oh man, I would have cried like baby about that guitar. My brother was playing at a local Distillery and when we were packing up his gear he tripped on a cable and wiped out his mixing board, knocked over a Mic stand that just missed his 00-21 Martin. Luckily he was okay also.
Talent, skill, application, endeavour...easy on the eye, articulate, great (bit posh) accent all impress an island Scot, Mary. Any chance of a ticketed concert livestream?
Sad your Heartbroken as Broken head stock not fair. I hope the repair will be as good as new or better. I can't wait for more shows I have watched them all as not been well. I must try and see you tour live next time.
Your tour travels reminded me of Elton's John's track "Holiday Inn" from MADMAN ACROSS THE WATER. You will just need to write a song about "Travelodge"! Continued wonderful experiences and success with your shows.
I randomly came across Mary after watching a cycling video! Incredible voice and fantastic guitarist. I play poorly and badly ride a bike so we're almost related.
Drama at Bush Hall! Thank Goodness that you have tour insurance for such eventualities, Mary, and now I want to see the next episode for the solution! Is the Fender Custom Shop an invite-only space, or it is like the Gibson Garage with public areas?
Great gig , sounded amazing just watching it back. You know that your guitar will always have this story attached to it now, although disappointing how cool also! The heartbreaker has a broken neck!
Another wonderful vlog episode. It shows what touring actually looks like when you are doing it yourself. One day I hope to see you live. Something about your vocals and guitar style just grab me.
I went to all those stores on Denmark Street...it is like guitar nerd heaven! I love going there. How did I not know about the Fender showroom? I went to the Gibson Garage, but I would love to see that Fender location! Love your tour vlog.
Amazing sold out show. Not great news on the guitar. Maybe see if you can get a cheap squire neck put on it for the rest of the tour, then get a proper replacement once home
You were invited, you and credit card, to a Fender shop.😉Seriously, you sound amazing with a band, I'm pleasantly surprised, especially on 'I blame myself". I like the intro where you push your voice over limit. Not good for the vocal cords I guess, but It gave me goosebumps. You should release this live version. GG Chris.
OMG! Not the Heartbreaker?! Looking at the way it snapped, it may have been on the way to happening without a knockdown, sometimes that tiger stripe grain can be brittle. I'm sure the people who made it for you will look after you, but man, you don't need that on an independent, single van tour!
Mary, Get some sleep don’t drink anything that contains alcohol 🍺🍷🍹🍸🍻 ! Eat the healthiest food you can find and play your heart out because this will be over very quickly! Enjoy!
I am not aware of any other Artist taking me (us) with them on the Road like you are doing here and its really cool and enlightening. Don't be disappointed I am not into your music because you will know yourself that you don't have to be to just support someone you find "sympatisch" (you'll know this term from Germany) where I spent 40+ years working in I.T. but supported many musicians there without being a big fan of their music but a big fan of their passion for music and entertaining and the ups and downs of pursuing such a volatile career. Rock on and I am applauding at every gig for you just doing what you do. Regards from Cambodia (im now retired).
This is the show I went to and it was excellent. A really professional show. When I was there the three questions I wanted to ask were…How did you choose the venues? How did you know that anyone would turn up? Did you have any idea what your audience would look like? I thought that I would be the oldest person there at 63, but there was a good mix of younger and older people. Well done to Mary, the band and everyone else who made it happen.
I find it interesting (and honestly a little surprising) that you played seated shows, was that a conscious decision (well I guess that it was...)? Hope that people still had plenty room to dance in front of the stage :) (Personally I find it strange to be seated during a concert, it kind of restrains me from the experience, but maybe thats just me).

Thank you so much for coming, it was lovely to meet you too.
Your live vocal performance of “I Blame Myself” is stellar!
Instant goosebumps!
I actually teared up! (How embarrassing 😳) 😊

Agreed. This is a great song.

Mary you are spoiling us with these vlogs. Loving them.
Sold out show!! Well earned 👏
It can't be a heartbreak tour without some heartbreak 💔😢
Thanks a lot for sharing!!! ❤
I'm so happy for you, Mary and band! Well deserved! Keep going!
You were so laid back and cool about your guitar! I’d be broken and in tears for days 😢🤣🙏🏴🇬🇧♥️
Thoroughly enjoying these.. takes me back 30+ years ago when I was gigging and nothing much has changed including broken guitars.
Mary, you are truly Ms. Guitar Nerd, and trust me it's a complement.

Cool vlog! My two favourite moments: Doing the laundry while soundchecking and your guitar work on Melancholy Parade.

Wow, looking forward to the next episode and the story of the broken guitar, glad you were insured, thanks Mary.....

I'd love to see a full-length live performance of "I Blame Myself"! That clip was incredible!
Road hair, I have felt that pain as a long-haird punk in the 80s and 90s. Rock on, Mary.
Doing laundry at sound check is SAVAGE!
Best use of a limited resource! (time)
What a memorable night, and so nice I get to be reminded of it again.

My pleasure. Keep sharing and I will keep following :)
Doing laundry after soundcheck with 28mins to showtime?!?! There is no Spinal Tap story out there that has anything on Mary!!!
Sounds like a great show! The broken headstock as painful as that is will be one of those rock n' roll road tales down the line.
Its a lovely venue. Seen a couple of good artists there and had some memorable nights at Bush Hall.
This is great!
Congrats on sold out shows, too!!!

BUENO!! You can feel the buzz...
I randomly came across Mary after watching a cycling video! Incredible voice and fantastic guitarist. I play poorly and badly ride a bike so we're almost related.
I heard a little Andy McKee kinda style when u were slapping on top of frets. That was cool. You look amazing btw. Best wishes to you & your band.
OOOpsy, that's a bad break.
Bummer about the headstock. You should have said you went all Pete Townsend on it. Enjoying these videos.
Congratulations Mary !

Unfortunately this is all to true.
So, what to do with the broken guitar neck? Hmmm. You could hang up on the studio wall as one of the battle scars of touring.
